Kenny Wayne Shepherd (1 Viewer)

My wife and I saw KWS at the Cape Cod Melody Tent in MA last night, co-headlining with Jonny Lang. I haven't been so thoroughly impressed by an electric guitar player in a long time. The energy, passion, intensity and tone were off the charts. The band was tight, the singer (Noah) complimented Shepherd perfectly, and Chris Layton on drums was an awesome surprise. Not much talk, or buttering up the crowd, just a focused band intent on making their presence felt in a big way. Multiple standing ovations starting after just the second song. Kenny's playing, just so f'ing good. He almost seems to play with a chip on his shoulder, and I hope it never goes away. His incredible tone deserves to be in the discussion of the greatest guitar tones of all time. In fact, KWS deserves to be in the discussion of the greatest electric blues guitar player of all time. Yes, that good. My wife, who couldn't pick KWS out of a lineup prior to last night, was blown away and nearly moved to tears by one of Kenny's many breathtaking solos. Those that may have dismissed him as a SRV clone, or just a "young gun", need to put those tired misconceptions aside and go see KWS perform live with an open mind and open ears. KWS is a blues guitar master and is still getting better. I couldn't be more thrilled to be able to go along for this ride with KWS and look forward to many more nights of electric blues with a legend in the making.

What about Jonny Lang? My wife was originally more excited to see him. He played second. Poor guy. Suffice it to say that co-headlining this tour with KWS may just kill his career. My wife agrees wholeheartedly. We left in the middle of Jonny's set, as did others.

Saw him In CA in March, seeing him next weekend as well here in NH. Huge fan. If you loved KWS have you ever seen Joe Bonamassa? Another great guitarist. Seeing Gary Clark Jr. for the first time next month too, can't wait. There are still a lot of great guitarists carrying the torch.

Joe Bonamassa is playing his 3 Kings show in my area soon which I'd love to see, but the venue is about 1.5 hours away and it's on a Wednesday night. Debating it.

Big fan and have been for a long time now. I haven't had the opportunity to see him live yet, though. I would like to at some point.

Man, if you're a big fan without seeing him live, you're in for a real treat when you do.

Went to see Bob Dylan years ago. Kenny Wayne Shepherd opened for him. I have always been a HUGE Dylan fan, but KWS completely stole the show. One of the more impressive live guitar performances I've ever seen.

Big fan. Saw him when he played as part of the Super Bowl festivities when it was in Detroit. He was great and Noah is the perfect frontman for his style.

Hadn't listened to him in a while. Just checked him out on YT. Found a live Voodoo Child bc it's a cover that shows a lot of chops and soul.

Had the good fortune to see that with my own eyes, at a Halloween party in 1981. Behind the head, plucking with his teeth, the whole show. Did I mention his Afro wig and platform shoes? Did I mention we were epically wasted on a combo of acid and nitrous oxide?

Sorry to hijack, KWS is an amazing player.
