RB Barlow Remains Starter, For Now

Rich Cimini, New York Daily News - [Full Article]

Despite RB Leon Washington's stellar 101-yard rushing performance last week, RB Kevan Barlow is expected to remain the starting running back.

How the #### can a guy who got -1 yard rushing and -1 yard receiving remain a starter? I have to start the guy this week, but I can't imagine the team sticking with him. He was a cancer in San Fran and seems to be a big tub of goo in NY.

Starter may mean being on the field for the first play, but it still wouldn't surprise me to see Leon get more carries when all is said and done.

I know Rigehetti will disagree w. me but the reason is pretty simple. Leon's not built for every down NFL duty.I would start Leon if I owned him though, he will be active again. And should produce well in PPR Leagues.

He was hurt.

Seeing the success Gore is having in SF really says alot about just how badly Barlow really is.
Barlow suxors, and I can't stand his guts, but the San Francisco offensive line is doing a very good job and not getting many kudos.

yahoo's take:

Strong Buy Diminutive Jet has enough propulsion to be a quality starter

Leon Washington (RB) New York Jets Classified as a speedy third-down back by scouts back in April, Washington was the lone bright spot as the primary carrier on an otherwise forgettable day in Jacksonville. Carrying the rock 23 times for 101 yards (4.4 YPC), the rookie out of Florida State showcased his tremendous skills set. Seemingly carved from stone, his chiseled, durable physique, excellent acceleration, versatility and open-field explosiveness makes him a force to be reckoned with. Kevan Barlow appears to have fallen out of Eric Mangini's favor as the featured back, averaging just 2.6 yards-per-carry, but should continue to be the primary goal-line option. With two stiff defenses in Miami and Detroit on tap for Week 6 and Week 7, Washington could struggle to match the success he had against a banged up Jags front. However, his eye-opening effort will certainly gain him more opportunities. Available in a whopping 99 percent of Yahoo! leagues, he has cemented himself as the Jets short-term featured back.

I think this turns into a "HOT HAND" situation where the guy getting it done carries the ball. Which means it wont be Barlow. Gore in SF and now Leon in NY show how bad Barlow really is.

Watch for Martin and Houston to get carries once they get back.

:goodposting:
Worst offensive coordinator in NFL history down?(He's the HC of the Packers now).New offensive system, young talent made Barlow expendable. It doesn't mean he's all that bad.Barlow would have put up some solid numbers in Turner's system too.

I just dropped Barlow as I can't see him being productive at all except for a short TD here and there. I don't see any Jet RB as being that great an option for the rest of this season.
