I never thought of that, but that may not be a bad place for him to land at all.I would love to see him in New England learning the Kevin Faulk role and taking over next year. Faulk is old, and they will need a player like that on the team.
That would make some sense.I don't think Jones will ever be given a shot as good as the one he had in Detroit again. My guess is he signs with Arizona closer to the season and will have a chance to start next season.
As a KJ owner, I am hoping for this. As a Edge owner, I am dreading this. KJ would take that job by the horns within no time. When he got cut, I wondered if he would resign for a smaller figure, I don't rule that out. Cincinnati and Chicago are also possibilities, especially if Benson is cut.My guess is he signs with Arizona closer to the season and will have a chance to start next season.
seriously, what has he done in the NFLRushing ReceivingCant believe the Lions gave up on a talent like this
Any reason he cant rebound from injuries and be a feature back again?
When he was on he was and it was brief he was one of not too many backs that could run and catch
As another KJ owner I'm all for this.AZ being my favorite spot.As a Jones owner I'm hoping he lands with the Cardinals, Jets, or Texans. This way he could be used in a RBBC this year with the potential to take over the full time gig in '09 if he gets back to full health.
I wonder if Bill Parcells would take him in? Ronnie coming back and Ricky has what left? Just a possibility as they let Chatman and Booker goCant believe the Lions gave up on a talent like thisAny reason he cant rebound from injuries and be a feature back again? When he was on he was and it was brief he was one of not too many backs that could run and catch
If they cut their depth at RB it tells me that one or both of those two are good to go...Tuna knows things...Liquid Tension said:I wonder if Bill Parcells would take him in? From what you posted, I see a player that has averaged 77 total yards, 0.5 TD, and 2.7 receptions a game over his career playing banged up and for Detroit (not exactly the mecca of RB production). That works out to 13.4 ppg in PPR leagues . . . which last year would have ranked him as the #19 RB last year.I understand that he's rarely healthy, but if he were to end up in a decent spot and got some opportunities I think he's worth a roster spot if you can get him on the cheap.fsufan said:seriously, what has he done in the NFLRushing ReceivingCant believe the Lions gave up on a talent like this

Or perhaps he is not willing to sign for the minimum and wants to see if he can sign a bigger contract closer to the start of the season. From Kowalski earlier this week:thatguythere said:Jones said there were 20 teams calling him the day the Lions cut him. Wouldn't you think maybe one of them would have signed him by now if there was any potential of him playing this year. Just one? My guess is they are waiting to see if he can actually run, at all. The odds of him coming back after Lis Franc and ACL injuries in back to back seasons aren't very good. IMO.
Sorry.![]()
Jones visited with the Patriots last week and both sides seemed interested in pursuing things further (although no offer was apparently made).![]()

I wouldn't make much of him not being signed yet. I would guess that he has received offers, but nothing he liked since teams aren't going to invest much until he's healthy.Jones said there were 20 teams calling him the day the Lions cut him. May. 12, 2008 - 7:26 p.m. ETNFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that the Patriots brought in Kevin Jones for a meeting last week. For now, they are just performing due diligence as Jones recovers from his torn ACL. But it would be a classic Patriots move, picking up an undervalued asset that has plenty of versatility. Jones excels in short-yardage situations and receiving downs, not exactly Laurence Maroney's strengths.
I love Faulk and what he has done in NE but, he is 32. KJ is a good reciever, and i think would be a great fit with Maroney in the 3rd down/change of pace back. Maroney doesn't seem like he will ever be a carry the whole load kind oh back.A decent spot like New England? I should have known you had the inside scoop. Nope, he ain't top 3 or top 3rd (whichever you were asking).getting healthy is one thing.staying healthy is another.Having a "healthy" Kevin Jones in place of guys like H Evans and K Eckel while wonderful for NE, wouldn't do much for fantasy owners.Faulk is a playmaker and he'll see his touches at least on passing/3rd down.Maroney has underachieved, but NE isn't giving up on a 1st round talent yet.S Morris has proven capable when given opportunity.K Jones just becomes another asset in the mix.Ideally for NE, Maroney/Morris/Jones become interchangeable parts. If KJ were to sign in NE and get healthy, would that make him the top 3rd RB in FF?
I meant 3rd down back. Fixed my post.Nope, he ain't top 3 or top 3rd (whichever you were asking).getting healthy is one thing.staying healthy is another.Having a "healthy" Kevin Jones in place of guys like H Evans and K Eckel while wonderful for NE, wouldn't do much for fantasy owners.Faulk is a playmaker and he'll see his touches at least on passing/3rd down.Maroney has underachieved, but NE isn't giving up on a 1st round talent yet.S Morris has proven capable when given opportunity.K Jones just becomes another asset in the mix.Ideally for NE, Maroney/Morris/Jones become interchangeable parts. If KJ were to sign in NE and get healthy, would that make him the top 3rd RB in FF?
You guys are dreaming if you don't think he would replace Faulk. He is a great receiving HB and can also bang away for the short first down or TD. He is a great third down back because the defense can't know if he is in to run or receive.Hmm...I thought third down backs were quick and elusive. KJ is neither, more known for running into tackles than making people miss. I don't think he got any quicker with his ACL surgery. I guess maybe a third and short back if anything. If you think he is going to make plays like Kevin Faulk you need to watch a little Lions footage....as painful as it may be. Maybe I'm totally wrong here and playing behind NE's Oline will be the ticket for him....I just will have to see it before I believe it.
