It doesn't say so I assume not. It only says "Anti-pick shield protects against lock tampering."Well more is better. Is yours bump proofed?Mine does 8.It only does a 4 digit code? I would want at least 6.It's for people who can't remember four digits?what's that keyhole looking thing right below the number pad?
True, which is why I only carry two of them. But sometimes it's easier to come in through the garage, the front door or off the deck into the kitchen area, depending on what we're doing. It's pretty silly to have different keys for all of them (plus the cellar/laundry room). It was like that when we bought it over the summer. Why would this matter how many times would you need to unlock all 4 doors. I would imagine you have one main door you use.My new house has four different keys for four outside doors, plus another one to get into the house from the garage. That's pretty fun.
Um, lots of houses have attached garages nowadays. Its pretty awesome. We don't all park our cars in our houses.YepGarage door opener down
I have an outside keypad to open either garage door.
If you're using 4 digits on a 6 digit pad there's only 360 permutations. See you in your living room soon, GB.It's for people who can't remember four digits?what's that keyhole looking thing right below the number pad?
Do you ride a bike or jog to everywhere?Keyless is the only way to go. Love being able to walk out the door and head to a local restaurant or bar without keys in my pocket. Simply liberating.
I walk a lot but ride my bike sometimes. Tons of awesome places within a mile of me.Do you ride a bike or jog to everywhere?Keyless is the only way to go. Love being able to walk out the door and head to a local restaurant or bar without keys in my pocket. Simply liberating.
you might want to consider a lock for the front door to your condo.Tough to implement in a shared condo building
What sort of locks do you use?Congratulations. Your house is now almost as secure as my luggage.
The kind with a six-digit code. What sort of locks do you use?Congratulations. Your house is now almost as secure as my luggage.
My old one lasted 6 months to a year, and it had wifi. This one will go significantly longer without the wifi. I don't mind changing 4 AA batteries once a year.was actually thinking about getting it for my beach house so anyone can show up and get in. But read tons of reviews on how fast the battery diesThis reminds me of a vacation rental house lock. My HOA wouldn't allow something this tacky in my neighborhood. I'm sure it looks good on YOUR door though.
The keypad is backlit. Neeeeext. The house we are in now has these. Very convenient except when the porch light is off and I can't see the numbers on the key pad.
Not getting the point of moving from a key to a phone. Talk about a PIA.This is my next home automation project. I've been wanting to ditch the keys for years, but the technology isn't there yet, IMO. We are on the cusp though - I'm considering the August smart lock once it comes out in the next couple months.
Says the guy riding a glorified school bus every morning. That or you could just try adult transportation.I carry keys for work and my bike lock. One additional house key is not holding me down

I also use separate codes for my butler, my nanny, my housekeeper, my other butler, and my other butler.Yeah, we use 8 digits. You can set it for anywhere from 4 to 8.
Plus there are two codes which is nice when you have a house sitter so you can set her a personal code that you deactivate when you return.
Mine isn't connected to anything. Just a stand alone lock.Do you guys that have done this set up the system yourself, or is it run thru your Alarm system? I was introduced to this by a door to door guy from Vivint. Was intrigued, but heard the company was a pile of ####. Looked into doing it thru ADT (my current alarm co) and didn't want to spend a bit more $$$ per month, plus some up front $$$.
What interested my was being able to allow my kids in and out easily, letting neighbors and help (pet sitters, cleaners, etc.) in without giving them keys. And also being able to control lights and other electronics as well as viewing my house while on trips.
Planning a month plus trip next summer and would like to be able to control my house some white gone.
What you're talking about is a lot more complicated. I'm just talking about going to Home Depot and replacing your deadbolt with one of these things. That's 70 bucks an an hour of your time. Wait, you mean you still punch in codes? We had installed one of these at our old house, on both the front and back doors, and I got used to never having to bring keys with me unless I had to drive somewhere (and even then it was one of those modern car keys). (Actually, our old house had one with wireless Z-wave capability, and I networked it into a wireless setup, so we could also lock and unlock from smartphones or computers, but the reception was never very good).
We got into our new house recently, and having to carry around keys is SO annoying. Just replaced the back door with the one linked above. Such an awesome convenience.
Are any of you home owners out there still really carrying around house keys? Highly recommend you getting on board with this here. Such an awesome convenience for 70 bucks.
$70 + $5000 install fee. Be honest, you hired someone to do this for you. That's 70 bucks an an hour of your time.
All me, brah.Be honest, you hired someone to do this for you. That's 70 bucks an an hour of your time.
NICE EDIT, KEYDRAGGER.And,....another obnoxious thread that Otis needs to stroke himself.![]()
It's not about the weight, Hogan.Keys are just the worst. They're so heavy.
The NSA doesn't need to get past locked doors.Edward Snowden's probably on your couch right now.
They will put you in a place one day with a keypad on the door but won't give you the code to get out. It's not about the weight, Hogan.Keys are just the worst. They're so heavy.
Fortunately, it'll be the lock Otis uses so he'll be out in about 30 minutes. They will put you in a place one day with a keypad on the door but won't give you the code to get out. It's not about the weight, Hogan.Keys are just the worst. They're so heavy.
Highly recommend the Ultimate Lock.Locks are essentially worthless these days. Thieves all use "kick-ins" instead of screwing with locks and bump keys.,
Entry to pretty much any door in 2-3 seconds. Two Deadbolts? Maybe one extra kick, but probably not.
Much better investment in home security is a re enforced door frame plate. Installs in the same hour, invisible, and actually stops thieves.![]()
Well done sir. That must require at least 2 tools. All me, brah.Be honest, you hired someone to do this for you. That's 70 bucks an an hour of your time.
We got the ghetto punch code schlage for this reason too.Not getting the point of moving from a key to a phone. Talk about a PIA.This is my next home automation project. I'll take the ghetto punch code. Makes it nice when going for a walk/run/bike ride.
