Knee injuries (1 Viewer)

I'm not sure if modern medicine has improved, if NFL players have become more dedicated or if they are just better athletes but this year

Culpepper returns for game 1

Palmer returns for game 1

Braylon Edwards returns for game 1

Javon Walker returns for game 1

Deuce McCallister returns for game 1

all five have put up similar #'s that they did last year, pre injury..

now they may not be 100% back but in the case of Palmer and Braylon they are both looking great.. Deuce has been solid, Javon a bit un-impressive and Culpepper is equally bad as he was in 2005

Update Through 3 games

Deuce: 53/218 (4.1ypc), 2 TD plus 5/37/0

Culpepper: 58 for 95 total 680 yards, 1 TD plus 11/20/1 rushing

Palmer: 55 for 85 total of 672 yards, 6 TD plus 8/5/0 rushing

Javon: 11/250/2 plus 2/21/0 rushing

Braylon 11/249/1

This is a good post.

The old thought of "it takes 2 years to recover from a serious knee injury requiring surgery" seems to be gone as the technology has cut down the rehab time significantly.

FWIW In Carson's case, it was a donor's ACL. There was a nice piece on this on HBO's Inside the NFL this past week.

I wonder how much a faster return will affect the long term health of the knee. You can be back in a 1/2-3/4 year but you may be paying up later, getting your carrer shortned, or limp throughout the rest of your life once pain killers are no longer so easy to get.

Palmer Bye

CulPepper DNP injury Shoulder

Braylon 3/27

Deuce 15/123/1 plus 1/8/0

Javon Playing tomorrow night

Actually, it was a donors Achilles Tendon. Much stronger than an ACL and if that's a tendon that the Docs can harvest & use for an ACL replacement, it's the tendon of choice.
