Konata Mumpfield, WR Rams (1 Viewer)

Hot Sauce Guy

Are we sleeping on the Rams WR3?

This dude seems to think so. Also Davante Adams thinks he’s special.

Everyone keeps asking who the next Puka is… maybe it would make sense for that to be the dude the same team drafted.

He didn’t have a topic, so now he does. Maybe this all fades into obscurity, but he looks like he belongs out there.

Konata Mumpfield was drafted in round 7 with pick 242 in the 2025 draft class. He scored a 6.35 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 1395 out of 3816 WR from 1987 to 2025.

The reports I’ve seen have suggested he plays better than he tested.

Which would also be Puka-like, iirc.
He looks like a slot only guy. Small, short, short arms, lack of deep speed.

Biggest positive on his profile is his freshman year at Akron. Kid balled out for a true freshman in any conference. Caught 7 for 67 and TD against Ohio State. 11/122/2 against Wetsern Michigan. He was a freshman All American and 1st team All MAC. Then he transferred to Pitt and it took him until his senior year to match the kind of production he had as a freshman. But that ability to step in right out of high school and play high quality division 1 college ball is impressive. Especially for a guy who wasn't able to rely on speed or strength to beat defenders.

What I’ve read is the program at Pitt was more responsible for his lack of production than any skills issue.

I looked and it sure wasn't a prolific passing attack so that very well could be the case.

Rams HC Sean McVay said WR Konata Mumpfield is “doing a heck of a job” in training camp.
The Rams selected Mumpfield in the seventh round of this year’s draft, and the former Pitt receiver already seems to be turning heads in training camp. McVay praised Mumpfield for being “smart and conscientious” on the field while making the most of the targets that have come his way. Mumpfield isn’t a lock to make the Rams’ 53-man roster, and is a part of a receiver room that is loaded up top with Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, and Tutu Atwell. While he’s unlikely to make much of an impact as a rookie, Mumpfield is a name to know for dynasty leaguers and could be worth a stash ahead of the Rams’ first preseason game against the Cowboys.
Drumbeat getting a little louder. 🤫
