Kurt Warner's future in Arizona... (1 Viewer)

Ministry of Pain

What are the odds that a cheapskate like Bill Bidwell actually watches his team win the SB and then watches Warner go sign elsewhere? I was going to start a whole thread on Bill Bidwell but I didn't want to rain down on Cardinal fans parade, god knows they deserve some celebration after all these years, but a lot of that pent up frustration can be atributed to a cheapskate owner. As happy as I am for the players and fans, part of me wishes they didn't make it to the SB, because now Bidwell can say, "See I told you we just keep letting these guys walk and hire new coaches that eventually we would win"...guy makes me sick sometimes.

But back to Warner. Would they slap a 15 million franchise tag on this guy? Warner is going to have a beavy of teams interested in his services. Short list of teams that would benefit from a Kurt Warner include but not limited to...

Carolina, Minnesota, Tennessee, NY Jets...these were the 1st teams I came up with that were either playoff teams or borderline playoff teams. Warner isn't going to sign somewhere he has no chance of making the playoffs or is a total rebuild as he has already done that.

The Jets have Jett Favre. Favre will not really finalize his retirement plans until just before training camp. Warner can't go there.I am guessing that Warner will stay in AZ even if it is for less money. I saw him say he doesn't want to move his family again.

Assuming Warner does not retire, the franchise tag would be the best move for the Cardinals from a $$$ standpoint but a bad move from a PR perspective. Warner certainly would not be happy with the franchise tag and would probably make his feelings known publicly. Warner deserves a payday and he deserves a multi-year deal. Whether Warner is 37 years of age or 57 years of age, the guy has been playing great for the past two seasons. The wheels will not fall off anytime in the near future. Warner will retire before his game slides (contrary to a NY Jets QB).
