Kyle Orton to start next Sunday for KC (1 Viewer)

Chief fan living just north of Denver...

had the opportunity to watch Orton quite a bit.....accurate passer that throws a nice ball...Chiefs have some weapons at WR and personally I think Orton is better than Cassel...I expect the Chiefs to have to lean on the passing game the rest of the year and Orton is the kind of guy that can handle that.....not too crazy about the KC running game right now and with the upcoming teams on KC's schedule they will need to throw to move the ball...have a feeling Orton could have some nice games as I think Bowe/Baldwin is a great athletic combo to throw to as well as Breaston.....while I expect some good games from all of these guys, Orton has in the past locked on to certain guys during games....not sure that will neccessarily be the case in KC, but I would expect Bowe to return to WR1 status and Baldwin to become a waiver wire darling again....

Orton would be a very nice pickup for Rodgers owners worried about him sitting out some games late....and I would not be surprised to see Orton as a top 12 QB the rest of the year making him startable in most leagues......

Should actually be pretty solid with the receiver quality and likelihood of playing from behind a lot in next four weeks. He'll probably be in my QB15-20 range.

Is this a FF question or a football reality question?

A) I think Orton is better than Palko

B) If we're talking fantasy, I think he has a chance to make an impact. Though I would think the playbook would be scaled back.

C) If we're talking about 'reality' the outlook is dim. Orton isn't a speacial QB. He won't lead a team charging into the playoffs or anything like that.

I can only hope he impacts Bowe like he impacted Brandon Lloyd last season. I know it's a different playbook, but Orton has a better arm than everyone thinks.

I picked up Orton in a couple leagues with the plan being watch him in weeks 13 and 14 to see if he is worth using with good match ups against GB and Oak in weeks 15 and 16. I simply don't have the confidence to start him against the Jets or Bears in 13 and 14, but he is worth a roster spot in case he develops.

@ CHI (30)

@ NYJ (7)

GB (31)

oak (21)

(passing yards allowed rank)

Not a shabby schedule moving ahead, outside of the Jet game. Assuming the D will give up some points and considering the anemic rushing attack, KC will be throwing quite a bit. The opportunity is there.

Orton is also highly motivated here - he's trying to demonstrate that the is worth a long term contract after this season...this is basically an audition for 2012 and beyond. If he plays well over the next 5 games, he will see someone throw some big money at him.

I think you could do worse for a FF QB2.

Orton is generally a solid QB2. His problem is you can't trust him from an NFL perspective because he tends to make a lot of boneheaded plays. But he has a good arm, can throw the ball well and if he has some talent to work with (which he'll have in KC) he should be a reliable QB2 for fantasy. He was a Top 12-15 QB in my league before being benched in Denver and I think he has much better talent to work with in KC overall in the passing game.

Chiefs fans have to be happy. Palko is terrible. At least Orton is a starting QB in the NFL. The Chiefs D played well last night.

Bowe and Breaston owners have to have some new hope for their WRs. Orton should be able to get them the ball.

Orton is probably not a QB1 but he should be owned.

I agree.if he is in an offense he knows well, I think Orton is a low end QB1 or high end QB2.right now he is in an offense he doesnt know, but is learning.he is a low end QB2 but will be a high end QB2 within 3 weeks.whether he makes the jump into QB1 territory is debatable, but it is possible.
