Ladainian Tomlinson in Denver (1 Viewer)

If Tomlinson played for Denver, how many rushing yards would he have in a season? Seriously, suspend reality for a moment and envision him making that jump cut of his and hitting the hole at Invesco Field week after week. What would his numbers be like?

I do this when reading many of the posts on this board.

Most guys do this when they bang their wife and think of Eva Longoria in the process.

Interesting.

He is a little lighter build than TD was (just to compare him to someone) but I believe he is a lot quicker on his feet.

I am going to probably be the lone dissenting opinion that he might not do as well. One of his strengths is catching the ball and Denver seems not to throw to the backs as much as SD does.

And this is just my opinion, LT seems to be one of those first cut guys, He sees the hole and he is gone through to the second layer of defense.

Denver’s offensive line is more of a developing type of a play scheme. The ball is hiked, the line begins their stunts, the play develops and then the hole opens in a cutback fashion.

I think that is why T.Bell struggles sometimes because he is a lot like LT with the speed, but he lacks the patience sometimes to allow the play to develop and he is quick to just follow the blocker and break the play outside.

He'd be a top 3 RB for sure
I thought in this system you did not want a shifty uber-stud running back. Isn't that what you have proclaimed in all the Texan/Reggie Bush threads?
Not me...got a link?(ETA: At least I don't ever recall saying something like that. I was upset, and still am, that they did not select Bush.)

Probably bad. He often seems to get shut down in Mile High Stadium.

That one I know. I'm going to have to google the other one to see who she is.I'm a culturally challenged Couch Potato. :bag:

EDIT - I'm back from Google images. A Desperate Housewives babe, huh? I've never seen the show.

Told you I'm culturally challenged.

Shanahan would trade him for another CB and put in another no name RB.
You think Shanny would trade LADANIAN TOMLINSON for a CB and replace him with a no-name RB? You've lost your mind! He'd ask for a second round draft pick, too. Oh, and Denver's stacked at CB, so Shanny'd probably ask for a DE or DT. I could definitely see him trying to engineer a Tomlinson for Peppers and a 2nd swap.

Denver doesn't throw to its RBs because it doesn't have any real passcatchers at RB. Shanny's demonstrated that he'll alter his schemes to fit his personnel when necessary, so if Denver *DID* have Tomlinson, I'd imagine we'd see a lot more passes to the RBs.

I don't know about Texican saying that, but it's true that the system uses a 1-cut and run downhill philosophy. In the words of Alex Gibbs himself:
TB…One Cut Rule: You are only allowed to make one cut and then you MUST get upfield at full speed. Do NOT cut until you have reached the LOS and do NOT “dance” in the hole. By not making your cut until you replace the heels of the offensive lineman, you force the LB’ers to commit to a gap and the offensive lineman can seal them away from the cutback lane.
So they want the fact they only make one cut and run down hill to force the LB to commit to playing the gap they are supposed to... because if they float where they can support another gap they may not be in a position to stop the RB coming through at full speed sine he didn't make extra cuts. There's plenty of articles that mention how RBs like Morency are having to learn to run differently to fit in the system in Houston.

I think it's clear LT2 would be a good back in whatever system he is in.

And it's far past a joking point that Denver can make mediocre backs put up great stats.

I don't think Shanahan would go out of his way to get an LT2, but if he were to come up in the system I don't think Shanny'd go out of his way to get rid of him. He probably also wouldn't go out of his way to keep him around if he started clamoring for big-time cash.

It would be Portis redux.
