Hi All,

As of 1 hr ago, I'm now the proud owner of Clinton Portis. I'd like to insure my investment, but I've been unable to find any useful information on the severity of Betts injury. Do any Redskins fans know how serious it is? I'm assuming, if healthy, he's the play over an aging Alexander.

Your help is appreciated.

He's currently due back after the bye. From what I've seen from Alexander, I see no way that Betts doesn't earn his role back when he's healthy.

No question about it. Honestly, Betts is good enough to start for many teams. From what I've seen, Alexander is still a step behind. I think against the Lions he averaged 1.8 ypc or something like that.M

agreed.
x2I have Portis on my redraft roster, and I simply held onto Betts as the handcuff and didn't bother picking up Alexander. Betts will be back soon, and I even thought I'd read somewhere where he was back practicing in a limited fashion.

Update:

Betts' Return Still a Few Weeks Away

Ladell Betts continues rehab on his knee, aiming for a return after the bye, but has yet been able to do much beyond a little weight training.

Betts sprained his knee in a loss to the Rams, with MRIs revealing he would be out about a month. Betts began aiming to return in November and hopes to begin jogging next week while his teammates are away for the bye week. Betts has yet to be informed by the training staff if that is a feasible timetable, but he said his knee feels much better this week and is responding well to treatment.

He would then hope to be able to begin practicing at least on a limited basis coming out of the bye, with a return sometime soon thereafter.

"That's my desire, as long as my knee cooperated with my mind," Betts said. "We'll see where it goes."

The Redskins signed free agent Shaun Alexnader with Betts hurt, and have continued to run the ball more than any team in the NFL even with Betts out. Betts has run 38 times for 156 yards this season, an average of 4.1 yards per carry.
