Lamar Miller, 2016, Infinity and beyond (1 Viewer)

It is baffling to me that a head coach could not see what everyone was saying about Miami passing too much. Glad he was fired, Lamar is going to be a solid RB2 moving forward.

Philbin wasn't calling plays, was he? I find it difficult to believe that the HC was overruling the OC in order to pass more.

Bank on it. They fire him and the new HC says to the OC, 'run what you want to run'. All of a sudden, it's a balanced offense. Seems obvious that Lazor wants this or he would keep doing the same #### Philbin was telling him to do.

Rough seas at the outset but might end up being a top 5 PPR running back by years end. Very glad I was patient and held him on my bench

When Lamar get's in space few are better in the league right now.

Pure unadulterated deadly speed.

Can't teach that.

How the crap does he look this good after just a coaching change?? Best buy-low of my life!
I can't even tell you how many crap offers I was getting for him after the Jets game.

I knew better.

I have loved Lamar since his high school days here in South Florida. Kid is a playmaker.

I was laughed at when I traded Doug Martin for him. Told everyone Miller would be top 5 by years end. Look good now. That may change by years end but I will enjoy it for now.

Crazy idea but please hear me out. Why not take your best players and put the ball in their hands MORE rather than LESS!!!??***

***also applies to Stefon Diggs thread

Cannot even comprehend what the heck was going on with the use of Miller in the first 5 weeks. Held him and he is helping me in a big way.

Lamar Miller rushed for 175 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries and caught all three targets for 61 yards and one touchdown in the Dolphins' 44-26, Week 7 win over the Texans.

Miller did all of this in the first half, as this game wasn't even as close as the 18-point final difference would indicate. The Dolphins took a 41-0 lead into halftime and rested Miller the entire final 30 minutes. So far, so good for Miller's usage under interim coach Dan Campbell. On his first touchdown, Miller took a screen pass 54 yards to the house before later housing a run from 85 yards away as the Texans' defense couldn't tackle anyone Sunday. Miller now gets the Patriots on Thursday night in Week 8. He's a solid RB1 after Joe Philbin's firing.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him put up a clunker vs Pats on Thursday. Jets run game was completely shut down today. Could have a lot to do with Ivory getting banged up, but Pats have been pretty stout vs the run since they got shredded in Week 1 by D'angelo.

Definitely nervous about the Pats matchup. Think Ivory being banged up was a reason the Jets couldn't get much going on the ground. The Dolphins have shown the last 2 weeks that Miller is definitely a focal point in the offense and they'll give him the ball.

Starting wonder about this one actually. The Pats hardly ran the ball themselves without Lewis yesterday.

they will get lamar the ball this week. The fins are going to hang with NE. they always (usually) do.
MIA has done very well against NE . . . playing in Miami. Going up against Brady in New England? Not so much.

With Brady in the lineup, the Pats are 12-1 at home against the Fins (the only MIA win was in 2005) with an average game score of 27-13. The Dolphins also won against the Matt Cassel led Pats in 2008 (in the infamous Wildcat game).

If the Dolphins can keep the game close and commit to the run, Miller should have decent numbers (but not Texans numbers). Playing on Thursday night probably won't help his numbers.

This is my thinking as well. Tougher matchup and they may fall behind, but he's gone from unpredictable usage to the focal point of the offense. Even if they end up getting blown out he's got a great shot at 10+ touches just by halftime. He can also catch so he's still involved even if they fall behind. He's pretty much in my lineup without a second thought every week going forward (assuming health of course).

true. although he did only play a half of football this week. should be fairly fresh.

Doesn't that caveat usually apply more to the passing game?

Tough game this week (as others have indicated). Miller will be fresh as he worked two quarters and then he was held out for the rest of the Texan game (at least I did not see him in there). I would think that the game plan will cater to a running game arc in order to try to keep Brady and company off the field as much as possible. This will be tough because BB will know it and the Pats will scheme to try to stop the run take the lead and force Tanny to throw which could lead to a walk on the plank for the Phins.

After a hard fought tough division win with the Jets, the Pats might be beat up to the point where the Dolphins are going to have a shot. Inevitably, the Pats will find a way to exploit the weakness but Miller is going to be the centerpiece for the team. For the Dolphins to win - Miller MUST play an exceptional game which means the OL will have to be optimal. Should be a great game and a decent number from Miller - expectations will be tempered.

I believe part of the issue is limited practice time and limited game planning time (which impacts even healthy players).

As others have mentioned, he was pulled at halftime and will be fresh for Thursday. Smart move by coaching staff and nice of them to wait until the got 30+ points for us before benching him. On the other side of the ball, the Pats played a hard game against a rival that went down to the wire. They'll be more winded than the rested Miami starters. Starting Miller with confidence.

It's just another game against a team that scores a lot. Miami is playing great defense but New England will still score a bunch as will Miami.

The Patriots had the same idea as they pretty much rested Blount for the game. They are going to try and run the ball down Miami's throat. I feel an ugly ground and pound game coming.

The last place team in our league had him on their bench. Started Foster with Roddy in the Flex.

That's why you're 0-7, sweetheart.

Miller is a good back. It's mind boggling that the previous regime couldn't figure that out. He's a must start the rest of the season.

So long as he gets 15+ touches, he will produce top 10 numbers IMO.

so there's:

freeman

bell

gurley

forte

AP

ingram

ivory

I know I have the first 3 ahead of lamar, but not sure about the rest going forward.

In PPR I think:

Bell

Forte

AP

Freeman

Gurley

Miller

Ingram

Ivory

Miller's gonna be a beast moving forward and is a total steal at his ADP. However I can't bring myself to elevate him above the likes of the backs I put on top of the list. For one, the new Phins haven't been tested against real competition yet. And just straight up there's a lot of consistent performers ahead of him who have proven they can sustain it.
