Chiefs | Johnson suspended for Week 10

ESPNews reports the NFL has suspended Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson for Week 10 without pay for violating the personal conduct policy.

Confirmed

NFL suspends Larry Johnson one game

The NFL has suspended Chiefs running back Larry Johnson for next Sunday's game at San Diego for violation of the league's Personal Conduct Policy.

It'll be the fourth consecutive week Johnson's won't play for the Chiefs. He'll be deactivated this week against Tampa Bay. He also was benched the previous two weeks while he dealt with team rules violations and off-the-field issues.

Johnson faces two simple assault charges for separate alleged incidents with women at Kansas City nightclubs.

Johnson met Tuesday in New York with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss Johnson's recent run-ins with trouble.

League spokesman Corry Rush sent the following statement a few minutes ago:

"Larry Johnson of the Kansas City Chiefs was notified today that he is suspended without pay for Week 10 of the regular season (Kansas City at San Diego on November 9) for violating the NFL Personal Conduct Policy. Johnson has previously violated the NFL Personal Conduct Policy and has since been involved in multiple incidents in which law enforcement was required to intervene. Johnson also was informed that upon the disposition of two pending law enforcement matters he faces the possibility of additional disciplinary action."

That's not bad at all! It looks like it's just this week and then next and then he should be good to go until he has his court dates. I don't think much will come of December hearing, likewise for the most recent incident. Whether or not Herm decides to actually play him remains to be seen, but from the sounds of it, he should be playing from week 11 on. As a LJ owner, this is great news!

Yeah, I expected worse. Only missing TB and SD where they will probably get blown out worse than usual.

Pretty much par for the course.

Didn't make any sense that he's be suspended much more then a game or two.

Back for week 11 with a chip on his shoulder. All he has to do is imagine the defense is a bunch of woman who rejected him and he'll be back to being a bulldozer.

It sounds like LJ is at least saying the right things. I'm guessing that the Chiefs will be satisfied that the message has been sent and LJ will be back in the lineup rested, healthy, and with something to prove starting in week 11. Then he gets a schedule of NO, BUF, @OAK,@DEN, SD, MIA. Sounds like a guy I want to hang on to.

The seems to be about the best news LJ owners could hear from a league perspective. I would have been happy enough with him being available by Week 13. Now, as FFdork said, it remains to be seen how the Chiefs screw with him, but the possibility of getting back for weeks 11-16 is very encouraging.

said Carl Peterson, president of the Kansas City Chiefs. "The NFL player conduct policy sets forth a set of standards that all NFL players, coaches and staff members must abide by. Upon the completion of his suspension we sincerely hope that Larry will be ready to return to the field for the Chiefs determined to make a positive contribution to our team and, with the assistance of the people around him, turn his life around."
Sounds like he'll be given the chance to play after week 10.

The reason he only got a one game suspension in my mind is because KC took the smartest route, the route Jerry Jones should have taken. They suspended LJ themselves and took action. Realistically LJ has already been suspended for 2 games, it's a move that suspension happy Goodell had to respect. I believe if KC played him through this and waited for the NFL to hand down the suspension he would have gotten 3-4 games.

THis is for the incident that the Chiefs already "inactivated" him ...? Correct..??

What happens when the NFL reviews the other recent run-ins with the law..?? Further suspension...?

Does anyone have a quick rundown of the incidents LJ is involved in..?

Given how they handled Brandon Marshall, I assume this discipline is for everything that has transpired up to this point assuming he was honest with the Commish and nothing surprising comes out of any legal proceedings.
