Standard for players that are not honoring their contracts. check for Strahan too.
I wonder in NFL teams should also be excluded when they do not honor a contract and cut a player...
Technically, they are honoring the contract. Contract says they can be cut anytime. If I were a currect NFL player, I'd be asking why the CBA was bargained in that manner. There has got to be a better way.Paying rooks millions when they've never played a down is something that wouldn't sit well with me if I'm a vet. Nothing wrong with how much they make but it would be nice if the contracts were pay for performance. OTOH-a player that get a low deal to begin with gets screwed if they outplay their deal. The pay for performance would solve that.

I imagine both sides will address rookie pay once negotiations start in earnest for a new collective bargaining agreement. Owners hate having to commit huge money to unproven rookies (the Ryan Leaf scenario looms over all high picks), and veterans hate seeing unproven rookies come in and make more than they do despite having accomplished nothing in the NFL. It would be better for the game if they set up something along the lines of the NBA rookie pay scale. You would have fewer holdouts as well as players earning big contracts instead of being given them.
