Watching last night, all I could think about was San Fran. and the Colts. It was the same Bears team and two totally different outcomes

I thought same old bears....start you d's vs chi is back again. If Freeney was still in Indy would have had a huge day.

I would say the Colts D IS that bad, but their O is probably better than what they showed against the bears. GB had alot of dropped passes and it was obvious they really missed Jennings. Seemed like Cobb was the closest thing they had to a go-to guy and he was barely on the field.

This just looked like a buzzsaw game to me. Green Bay was out to destroy. Next week it's Rams at Bears, my guess is they return to life. Also Bush is a helluva RB and the Bears will not suffer from missing Forte (yes as awesome as that ex Tulane Greenie is...).

I think it's likely that SF is an even better team than they were last year.
:goodposting: I think SF is the best team in the NFC - possibly the NFL. That said, I think the Bears were over confident after what they did to the Colts. I also think Capers did a great job of confusing Cutler and the Bears o-line. The Packers also had an obvious sense of urgency - not must win, but urgency. A lot of people were saying that last night's game would tell you where both teams are headed this season. I disagree. I think what happens over the next few weeks will - that is, how each team reacts to last night.

Are Tice and the Bears finally going to realize that their O-line is awful, and call plays that protect that weakness? Are the Packers going to actually play a more "conservative" defense, realizing that they can get pressure without blitzing - and they have good DBs? Will Cutler start ducking and chucking in the face of pressure - or will he remain focussed down field when his protection starts to slip? Will the Bears defense be okay even with Urlacher at less than 100%?

Honestly, I was suprised the Bears didn't do two things:

1) Run more from the beginning of the game. It seemed like they could pick up 4-5 yards a run at will - and yet they insisted on having Cutler drop back.

2) Never saw a designed roll out. How hard would it be to have a roll out away from Matthews, so Webb doesn't have to block him 1-on-1 for 4 seconds? Horrible play calling by Chicago last night. And they could have rolled him to Marshall's side to get him involved.

I was thinking yes cutler doesn't deal with pressure but the biggest thing is Mike Tice is a horrible offensive coordinator Cutler never had a chance they had no answer for cover 2 man underneath the bears should have run the ball 40 times until them safeties had to play the run!!

Let's keep playing:

Which of the following is true?

A. The Bears defense is about as good as 49er defense.

B. The Colts offense is about as good as the Packer offense.

C. The Packer offense just isn't that good.

D. All of the above.

E. None of the above. Last night was a funky Thursday night game. The Packers offense is dominant. The 49ers defense is dominant. The Bears are a solid team that will look terrible from time to time. We have no idea how good or bad the Colts are yet.

E... The Packers didn't struggle anywhere near as much with Chicago as they did against SF regardless of the final scoreboard.

Yeah....thats not true. The Bears cover 2 frustrated Rodgers all game by forcing him to check down and they were consistently able to rush four and get to Rodgers. They gameplanned extremely well for him.

No team is ever as good or as bad as they appear.... the truth is always somewhere in the middle.

... unless we're talking about the browns. They suck.

I didn't see the Niner game and I have no idea what the truth is, but clearly, the GB offense struggled last night. Not Jay Cutler-level struggling, but it was fairly tough sledding last night. Especially considering that, unlike the Niner game, they had the entire playbook available to them all game. They never paid for their mistakes and always played with the lead. Even with Cutler giving them extra possessions and a viable running game, they only mustered 16 points.I assume it was just a funky Thursday night, but if they don't start clicking against SEA, it might be time to start wondering if something's off.

1) Packers rush is far better than the Colts. No time to throw, Cutler gets happy feet and makes terrible decisions.

2) Packers offense was ok, but the Bears have a pretty good defense. Certainly the Packers had far more first downs, far more passing yards, and I would guess had just as many rushing yards. Add that to the fact the score, actually the Packers offense was way better than the Bears offense While Rodgers got sacked five times (compared to 7 for Jay), he did not look as hurried consistently as Cutler. Rodgers got hit, Cutler got hammered.

 No, a buzzsaw game is one team blowing out another, and that game last night was close for the great majority of it, and it took a fake FG for a TD for GB to really grab control of the game.Anyway, I think SF is just that good this year.

There were some pretty big drops last night by all the GB receivers (except for Driver). Marshall dropped one in the end zone as well. Something was in the air last night.

Yeah, unfortunately it was usually Cutler's feet as Clay Matthews knocked him on his ###.

I'm surprised no one else has addressed the absence of Greg Jennings as a control variable in this exercise. Makes the whole comparison a bit moot IMO.
