Late Games...Anyone Else... (1 Viewer)

...feel the need to start the guy playing in the 4PM game or Sunday/Monday night game? Like it gives you an advantage or something? If anything, it stretches out your week, clinging to that guy or two that...if they have a career game...could get you that win.

Anyone else have that late game bias?

Before I get the...always start your players that give you the best chance to win stuff...admit it if you are one of those that takes it into consideration.

Nope. I'm one of them "most points" guys.

Sorry.

My son plays double-header fall baseball games on Sundays - I'm an assistant coach. I usually stroll in at about 6:00 and see how I'm doing. So most of the time, I don't even know who scores what, when - and have found it doesn't usually make a difference. If the guys I started score more than the guys I benched I'm happy.

Will admit that it does factor in, when I am choosing between less than stellar options.

Yea, I like to have a guy going on SNF or MNF and will do mental gymnastics to justify to myself why they're a better play than someone else at times.

But for the morning games, there's one 10 team league w/ FCFS waivers that I'm in where I prefer mostly morning games. Because if I have a huge lead after the morning games and it looks like I'm gonna win, I don't have to drop a guy to pick up a kicker. This week it's Torrey Smith. I'll probably wait until halfway through the afternoon games or so before I look to add a kicker and cut Smith. If I'm way up, I'll go with out a K... if not, I'll add Barth Connor or Cundiff and then try to add Smith or whomever is the hot pick up when the waivers open Monday night.

I do this a lot with my CB/S/DT/K that are not studs, and will also use it as a tie breaker if I can not choose between 2 guys.

Don't know why, but just like going into SUN/MON night games with a few players left over.

 In terms of fantasy football I would prefer to be the team with the lead. The competitive advantage to a late game player is only where you have multiple players to select from. I have used this strategy and selected my player based on my opponent's early output which determined if I should play it conservatively or needed to swing for the fences. Points are points, regardless of where (or when) they come from, but I do understand the desire to have a player in Sunday night or Monday night to extend the game.

If I have two guys who are otherwise a toss up, MNF is the first tiebreaker and SNF is the second one. I'm not saying I would even think about starting Starks over Adrian Peterson, but a coin toss, absolutely.

I don't make lineup decisions based on when they play, but I do admit that I like having later game players when my opponent doesn't. it makes me feel like I still have a chance if the earlier games are not going well for me.

Yea I love having players running on primetime. I do not bench someone who I think is a much a better start for a Monday/Sunday night player. If I have a close call between two players though I probaly take the primetime player so I have someone to cheer for.

edit to add: Not that I think its a advantage to have the later running players strategicaly. There is something special about making a Monday night comeback though.

It never comes into my thinking at all. I always start the best player regardless. More times than not most of my games are played earlier in the day. Which I like because I can sit back and enjoy the sunday and monday night games with a cold beer and no stress of worrying if a player on my team is doing good or bad that game.
