Laurence Maroney (1 Viewer)

Haven't really seen him play, just have seen his stat lines and a few College clips.

Wow. :o

Looks like a true stud in every sense. Anyone have a good scouting report or comparisons to present day NFL players??

Looks like a RBBC in NE this year with Dillon maybe the grinder and Maroney the COP guy.

Thanks.

reminds me of Edge

The guy who occurs to me the most for some reason is Edge. He's a mid-sized RB who runs with power and speed good enough to make big plays with, and he catches the ball well too. I'm not ready to say he's "as good", but that's who he reminds me of.

Yea, I think about the 2nd quarter he ran to the left side on a cutback or something and i was like Coreys gonna get me some yards (since he's my #3 RB this week), and it ended up being Maroney. I coulda swore it was Dillon.

Also,..Maybe a Steven Jackson ( -Str. +Spd. )...maybe. ;)

I watched him all game, tried getting him in every keeper/dynasty league I could but did not pick early enough (3rd rookie off the board). You can compare him to Edge I suppose. He's definitely got that electric quality in him that just motivates the team.

This kind of reminds me of the Faulk/Jackson situation of the last few years. It was clear (at least to me) that Jackson was the superior runner, but had to wait his turn.I don't see Maroney overtaking Dillon unless Dillon becomes very ineffective or gets dinged up.(and I own both of 'em)

What you saw yesterday is likely what you'll see all year long. Both guys will get 200-225 carries this year and will be rotated in and out of the lineup based upon down/distance/scheme/whim/etc. They'll want to keep both fresh which will benefit both guys.

watching the Pats/Bills game yesterday the player who kept popping into my mind was Ricky Williams..

size, hair, moves and running style

Watching him throughout the preseason I've seen both Corey Dillon and Stephen Jackson in him...

Maroney's first two pro carries got my attention.

27 yards up the middle.

22 yards to the right.

This kid is a player. He reminds me of a young Dillon but faster. He seems to shed tacklers easily and exhibit power combined with his speed.

he is a little high cut like robert smith, but runs with more power & may be shiftier & have better contact balance... smith was kind of a long striding glider with deceptive speed... even late in his abbreviated career, he would fool DBs into taking bad angles as it didn't look like he was running fast until he exploded by them, because of his ultra-smooth gait...

This from a rabid Pats fan: Maroney didn't look as good as Reggie Bush AND he doesn't look as good as Brandon Jacobs. That dude is a Lawrence Taylor kind of freak physical specimen. Having said that, I'm lovin Maroney's impact on the Pats running game.

I agree, and I see both of these as very real possibilities.

LM is sick.

This guy is a runaway freight train with the ball on returns. He's dynamite and if he is the FT guy next year, 1st round pick for sure.

He might be the fastest RB in the open field.

I can't believe my Pats have this RB with this combination of prototypical running back size, balance, speed, and moves. He has it all!

why isn't he playing more. At first it seemed like he would get a moderate amount of carries. The last few games he's had a lot less.

Maroney will get PLENTY of carries vs. Colts. Besides the obvious reason that the Colts can't stop the run, there is a story circulating that on Draft Day Napolian went ballistic when BB selected Maroney as that was the RB they really wanted.

I think that given the clear personal nature of the Colts-Pats rivalry (see BB requesting security for team personnel from Polian) BB will want to show Napolian what he missed to further piss him off.

Maybe they should have taken him instead of Jay Cutler with the 11th pick, then.
I'm not sure what Denver's draft pick has to do with the Colts picking Addai.
Ahh... my bad, sorry about that. I had heard Denver had coveted Maroney as well, so I was thinking Denver all the way.
