Sammy Morris looks like the Corey Dillon of last years RBBC...I'm thinkin' about trading Maroney NOW.

i'd be dumping maroney if I owned him. NE has Morris, Faulk and Evans getting alot of carries and maroney has been disappearing for long stretches in the game. I see this as a disturbing trend. Maroney on NE = BUST

Faulk and Evans have combined for a grand total of 6 carries through two games. I would not be all that concerned about those two. At this rate, that's less than 50 carries between them on the season. The RBBC candidate is Morris. I chatted with someone close to the team today and it seemed like the Pats plan is to get Maroney more work as he gets further removed from his shoulder surgery. I doubt Morris will completely go away, so I would expect Morris to get 8-10 carries a game.People can search for my opinion on Maroney, but bottom line I had him projected at 275-285 carries this year. That's exactly what his current workload would get him. His receiving yards and TDs have been non-existent and that's where the trouble has been so far this year.He hardly ever got touches inside the 5 yard line last year (I believe he had a whopping 7 attempts in side the 5) and still managed 7 TDs on the season. I had Maroney pegged for 1200/300/10 this year. For now it looks like he won't get many scoring chances, but we'll see how he does once the team feels he is 100% healthy and against teams not as tough to run on as SD. Maroney has a 4.3 ypc so far, so he's been fairly effective. As long as Brady can pass at will, Maroney may struggle to see a bigger role in the offense.

According to the play by play, it seems Morris was in for two drives during the game.
I don't know why this is a big deal... the Pats were up by a ton - why risk injuring him?I think this board is a little out of control with this.Morris was in on the GL most likely because Maroney just had a ton of carries taking them up the field and Belicheck wanted some fresh legs in there for the short yardage play....

This is interesting news. If true, it could render Morris useless as anything other than a Maroney handcuff. If he was to assume the Corey Dillon role he would have a shot at RB3 status in larger leagues. But if the plan is to get Maroney more carries than it's difficult to see Morris having that type of a role.

Remember, this may be the plan but that may not be how things turn out. If Morris continues to average 5+ yards per pop and can gt the tough inside yards, that may make it tough to take work away from Morris. All I know is that Maroney's role "should continue to evolve" as the season progresses, but I also think that that is contingent on Maroney doing well and being productive.I took it to mean that Maroney will get more meaningful touches and perhaps more receptions rather than a ton of additional carries. I still think the Pats will limit Maroney to 18-20 carries a game . . . it's which ones he gets that will be telling IMO.

i think i mentioned it in the other thread, but as long as they are clicking...they know they need a healthy maroney at the end...they know he is still recovering somewhat...they know they can win without wearing him out

i would bet in closer games, you'd see more maroney, problem is, there won't be that many of those.

The key question that still needs to be answered is who will get the GL carries? Will it be Maroney (who hasn't gotten any yet) or Morris (who has) or maybe Evans (who also has) or will it be any combination of those three and someone else? If Maroney gets them he could reach RB1 status; if Morris gets them he could possibly reach RB3 status in larger leagues. As I posted in my thread about this subject I found it quite interesting that Morris got the short-yardage carry at the 3 last night even though Maroney was ripping up the Chargers.

not so fast, my fried. -lee corsohe didn't really have a training camp, didn't practice, didn't play in games..I'd expect Maroney to get things going , in a hurry:they now play Bills, BENGALS,BROWNS, 'Boys, Fish, Redskins, Colts. Not exactly world-beater run defenses..Maroney will most definitely have 100+ rush yards, in each of the next three weeks...

You Maroney owners better open your eyes. Maroney is healthy and its never a good thing to have three, count them three other RBs not including Maroney involved in NE's offense. Most Importantly Maroney is not being used at the Goalline. Why you ask? cause its the patriots...the carousel of RBs will continue. Maroney is a good RB and I like him but not on NE.

I agree. Again, I think Maroney owners are in denial. There is no reason to beleive the team will proportionately increase Maroney's carries. If they are savings him for when he's healthy, then why run him 7 times on a drive in a blowout? Doesn't make any sense at all. Morris looks better than Dillon did last year, and if that continues then why in the world would BB stray from what worked so well last year? If you're happy with 8-12 points a week from your #1 RB, then I say hang onto Maroney. Otherwise, it would be wise to start shopping him IMO.

Pats fan and homer here that also has Maroney on both my FFB teams. Even though the first 2 Pats games were not close there`s one pattern that is becoming evident. Bellichick is planning on a 19 game season. He wants Maroney to be there all the way through. Maroney has never carried the full load so it appears in most games he`ll get 15-20 touches which over a 19 game season will be around 300 total carries. There may be games he gets 20+ but few and far between. Morris will get many goal line carries and unfortunately I`ve adjusted my expectations for Maroney to closer to 1050 yds. and 7-9 scores. Another trend I think I misjudged was his involvement in the passing game. He`s got zero catches this season. Just 2 games but fantasy wise he`s a victim of team balance and depth at his position.

Yep, just like last year. I don't know why anyone thought it would be any different.

I like him and will be targeting him for trades THIS week! He is the ultimate buy-low candidate. A player in a good passing offense that will not be the main focus of the defense. Knowing what he is capable of when healthy, I see nothing but a young RB, in a good situation, and with much upside. Going after him hard in my flex leagues.

The receptions are definitely another problem - with Moss & Stallworth stretching the field, it leaves Welker & Watson underneath. There's no need to dump to the RB when your slot guy is wide open on every play.

And if they do pass it to a RB underneath, chances are it's Faulk, who's a very under-rated player on that team.

He is at an all time low - could probably deal Barber for him which I would have jumped on a few weeks ago - now not so sure!
