Lawn Care Tips (1 Viewer)

Drought this year has done a wonder on my lawn. Hope it's not getting too late to reseed.
If you live up north, it is probably too late. But, if you get an early frost, the seeds might stay dormant until the spring. In the South you can still seed now , but don't wait.

Southern Ohio. I think I'm still on the edge. It would have been way too hot/dry up until about a week ago.

done with my yard - and yard crew.

Ordered Zoysia again. Came in nice last time until lawn guy killed it all
Did a search with zoysia and found this post. Yeah, my lawn company just about killed my lawn. I asked a rep from the company to come out and he told me that apparently they have been doing the wrong treatment on my lawn and he told my that I have zoysia grass.

Question for you @belljr or anyone else that would know - Do you fertilize your own zoysia lawn? What part of the country are you in?

Doing some google research and YouTubing I think I have a pretty good handle on how to get the parts of my lawn being taken over by other grasses and weeds. Thinking about doing my own fertilization but need some insight on that.

Live in NJ. Scott's is safe for zoysia. As well as the weed spray I use. I have some zoysia specific fertilizer i use right after I put plugs in. I fight a lot of moss is the problem and lot of trees. That said I just plant 30ish plugs every late spring and eventually I hope it takes completely over

Thanks for the quick reply. I’m in Northern Virginia (DC area) so climate should be similar. I’m going to do some plugs this spring. Do you order plugs online or a local nursery?

I moved into this house three years ago and the lawn was beautiful. I’ve used two different lawn companies to fertilize and spray for weeds and it keeps getting worse.

Only issue is shipping varies so if it shows up a week later I need to make the time to plant. Instead of go get them when "I'm ready". So I try to order and hope they show up on a Thursday before my planned weekend. Sometimes it's faster and others a little longer
