Lawrence Timmons (1 Viewer)

Sounds like James Harrison will be back this week.
Harrison tweeted earlier that his docs said "thumbs up" to practicing again today, but "no go" on playing yet. And that came after his agent said "He's playing this week." Sounds like he's probably back for week 10.Woodley likely out too, so it's almost guaranteed it'll be another week outside for Timmons. Stevenson/Foote(if Farrior still out)inside and Timmons/Carter(if Worilds remains hurt) outside for week 9 appears to be how it's shaping up.

Kept Timmons as one of my 8 keepers this years and going to hang on to him for now. Once he gets back inside his numbers will climb back up and hopefully close to next year. Helps that I scraped up Derrick Johnson on waiver wire this week, not sure why he was laying around.

Yay, he'll start getting 4 tackles instead of 2.

I was all set to finally bench Timmons this week. For my first defensive pick, I had faith in him longer than most and was finally ready to move on. When I set my preliminary lineup on Tuesday, I finally took Timmons out of the lineup. GOOD RIDDANCE! BUT, then Harrison was going to play again, which would shift Timmons back to inside. At first I was actually mad that I was even thinking of giving Timmons one more chance. But decided, 1 more week, fine. In the starting lineup Timmons went. Then news comes out that Woodley is out and that Timmons would move over to outside, again, to take his place.

So my question: Before I take Timmons out of my lineup again, Woodley has been playing really well from that position thusfar. Can someone tell me if there is a difference in responsibilities from Harrisons OLB position to Woodley's OLB position. In other words, is there any hope that Woodley's success rubs off on Timmons this week?

If Timmons doesn't get moved back inside, bench him.LOLB is a completely different animal from ROLB in LeBeau's fire zone. The most important thing would be that Timmons would be on the strong side most plays and have to fight through the TE as well as the DE. Timmons doesn't really have the brute strength to beat one guy hand-to-hand, let alone two. Woodley makes a ton of plays from the SAM because he's strong as hell and can goon his way through blockers when moves/finesse don't work(I can still remember him beating those Big 10 OTs in college with one arm). Timmons can't do that.

I noticed last night that he was being moved around all over the place last night. He played some ILB, some OLB, some DE. I saw Worlids played and Sylvester was playing inside as well. If anyone still cares about this slug, I'm wondering if they will continue to move him around like that even when everyone is healthy. Don't the coaches realize he is not effective at all playing outside-why do they keep playing him there. Anybody else has to be a better option right

He's mostly been on my reserve but he's dead to me after that latest clunker.

Timmons had a good game last night. 7 solos. Is he finally back in the middle in a spot where he can be productive every week?

Wondering the same thing really, with Bishop down I'm wondering if Timmons might be the best pickup right now?

Coach Mike Tomlin announced that OLB LaMarr Woodley (hamstring) will play against the Bengals this week, barring a setback.

"We'll watch him this week to solidify that," said Tomlin, "but we like where he is." Woodley missed three games in addition to the bye week with the injury. He was on a major roll, with 7.5 sacks in four games prior to pulling the hamstring against the Patriots.

I'm assuming Woodley coming back would be a large help to Timmons getting back into his LB1 role?

Im not an IDP guy, but I can tell you having Woodley/Harrison back will open up alot of gaps for Timmons/Farrior/Foote to make an impact/tackle. Also it'll allow Timmons to play a pseudo-Polamalu role where he can essentially roam around and sniff out the ball carrier/disrupt the passer/get into coverage, probably leading to more tackles/sacks/INT's.I think Timmons had a decent game this past week because Worlids had his best game ever (according to Tomlin). It'll be the first time Harrison/Woodley are back for the same game in quite some time (since the Houston Texans game earlier this year)If Timmons is available on your WW, and you have a spot to pick up him with it may be worth the stash. :towelwave:

WTF? He's been averaging 8 tackles the last 3 weeks, but no big plays.

Freaking Jason Worilds got 2 sacks last night playing on the outside.

that's what worilds is supposed to do, i thought. this was the first time that his skillset in this defense showed itself.

With Harrison suspended for this weeks game, who plays opposite Worilds? Who will rotate with Woodley on the other side? Chris Carter? Is the Timmons playing OLB experiment over for the most part or could it resurface this week? Any and all insight is much appreciated.

Woodley -- as of Monday, I've yet to see today's practice report -- was expected to play. Worilds would move to ROLB if that happens. I think it's likely, given what the team suggested last week, that Woodley would rotate out some. If that happens or if Woodley can't go out all, Worilds would line up on the left side, with Timmons (most likely) moving to ROLB.
