FWIW. Saw it at "fannation.com" (and I have no idea if they have any validity at all, just wondering if anyone has heard anything).

Bears have talked with the Giants and Skins about Briggs alot this offseason. Until week 1, it'll always be a possibility.

IIRC The Gmen are offerring their later first and also some additional pick(s). The Skins are offerring their 1st(6th) round pick.

Antonio Pierce is an extremely close friend of his and he has some(a bit lesser) connection with someone on the Skins so it seems he'd be happy with either team.

He and Asante Samuel will probably be talked about a bunch right up until the 2nd round of the draft.

As if the NFL is FF, if I were the Bears I'd trade Benson for a nice pick then see if I can trade Briggs for Portis or Betts.

(not a Benson fan)

Me either. He's a ####. And if ownership breaks down and trades Briggs, it's a huge mistake. Everytime a team gives in to a player that takes the route Briggs has, it's one more step toward giving the players more power and becoming like baseball. :bag:

Briggs News, not washington related but I didn't want to start a new topic.

Bears | Briggs, team revive contract talks - Wed Jul 4 11:02:00 a.m. PT 2007

(KFFL) John Mullin, of the Chicago Tribune, reports the agent for Chicago Bears LB Lance Briggs, Drew Rosenhaus, has approached the team with some ideas regarding a new deal that he hopes will interest the team. "We presented some concepts that we think will work for the Bears and for Lance," Rosenhaus said. Rosenhaus declined to elaborate on specifics.

Based on the history of CHI and how they have handled holdouts, plus how the Briggs deal talks went down last year, I sort of doubt he will get moved. Its an interesting story and he is an important part of the defense, I just see him staying put this year... and being forced to decide if its worth it to holdout for 10 games. -Just a guess on my part though.

But he said no way he would ever play for the Bears; I'm sure he's a man of his word and wouldn't let money change his convictions. :kicksrock:
