League rules / double start pitchers (1 Viewer)

The thing I dislike most about fantasy baseball vs. fantasy football is the fact that on any given week, one team can have an advantage over their opponent because of double starts. I don't neccessarily agree that it averages itself out over the season because the schedule changes (meaning- you are not playing the same lineup each week) and on your double start week, you could be playing a team with the same.

Anyway, does anyone know a way to combat this? I was hoping maybe there is a league host that allows the option to choose from game 1, game 2, or the average of both games, as an option when starting your pitchers.

Anyone? Thank you much.

You can have innings caps which limits streaming 2 start pitchers, but I think they are for the season. I don't play h2h, but maybe someone who does will know if it's possible to cap by week.

thanks guys. I can't get my leaguemates to convert to roto because (understandably) they like the weekly h2h games, #### talking that comes with it, etc.

I just find it hard to believe that after all these years, no one has created a 'fix' to what I believe to be a huge negative of fantasy bb.

Weekly start limits.

Is your H2H league points based? Could go with a weekly H2H league that instead uses the 5x5 roto categories.

I hear ya buddy. Im in a H2H pts league too and the double starts is an advantage but we know what we are signing up for going into it. I usually use all my bench spots on pitching and scour the waiver wire ahead of time for good double starts.

ESPN will let you cap the total team starts each week. You could set the league for 12 starts per week. Problem is if you are at 11 through Saturday, you could use 7 starters on Sunday and get 18 total starts.

I think if we're talking about local leagues or among iFriends, with money involved, this is not a problem. Commish sets rules and can subtract points if someone messes up or doesn't remove a player. If u just join a random league with 15 yr olds or dbags, well you shouldn't expect a high quality league lets say. This is never an issue in my leagues.

I am aware of these leagues but I don't think this stems the problem. Any number of additional pitchers on a double start would still increase the chance of ks, wins, etc. over a team without double starts giving them the advantage in the pitching catergories.

Weekly start limits would work. Do leagues offer this in the scoring or lineup options? I didnt see it on yahoo.

It gives them an advantage if they happen to have there good starters pitching twice. The ratios matter way more in a roto though so it cuts down on streaming any warm body with 2 starts.
