OH PLEASE...OH PLEASE...OH PLEASE...Sincerely,Coach still waffling - Kurt has a nice series - MAtt gets sacked and then goes off - nice drive.....is it enough though?
ExactlyI wouldnt expect them to go 5-0, since NYJ, Skins, and Bills are all reasonably good teams, but they could. They should go at least 3-2, more likely 4-1If they have Leinart starting, I dont see that happeningI believe it's Warner's job. Warner didn't really win this job this preseason as much as Leinart did to lose it. I think the Cards and Whiz are thinking playoffs (particularly in a weak division). You can always go from Warner to Leinart if you get off to a bad start this season. If be difficult to reason to go from Leinart to Warner if you're looking to the future.
Clear as mud.So did Leinart look good enough to win the job, or will it be Warner?
Leinart did look good. But so did Warner. My guess is that Warner will be the man, but Leinart didn't do much to lose it tonight. He did have a boneheaded play that resulted in a lost fumble, but one boneheaded play in a half is pretty good.So did Leinart look good enough to win the job, or will it be Warner?
Kurt Warner completed all four of his attempts for 48 yards in the Cardinals' exhibition finale Friday night.Matt Leinart played extensively, which was not expected, and went 10-of-14 for 177 yards and a touchdown. Leinart didn't hurt himself, but Warner is still more likely to lead Arizona onto the field Week 1 at San Francisco. Related: Matt Leinart
Disagree 100% with this. I'm more surprised Warner suited up than Leinart playing extensively. I felt it was obvious going into this game that Leinart was playing the vast majority of it. If nothing more than to regain his confidence heading into the season. There's a good shot they'll need him this year. (I do expect Warner to start Week 1)FWIW - Rotoworld thinks Warner is the week 1 starter:

Disagree. That play was awful. I just imagined after its was over what it would be like if Bill Parcells was head coach. The play, IMO, was plenty to make Leinart your opening day backup. Let's see: Leinart takes the snap, drops back, there is pressure. Sees a WR on the right hand side of the field open, but several yards behind the line of scrimmage. Makes a desperate attempt to get him the ball. Throws the ball about exactly halfway to his WR. It hits the ground like a bounce pass. Since its a lateral, its a live ball. Scrum ensues. Defense recovers.Don't be misled tonight. Leinart looked better than last week. (He had no where to go but up). But make no mistake, as a Cards fan, he was like lit dynamite. How long until he blows up? Leinart needs more time. Leinart is the future, but Warner is the present. Keep in mind that no Broncos starters saw the field. Just like Fox Mulder "I want to believe in Leinart" but I can tell you as someone that watched the game, I don't yet.So did Leinart look good enough to win the job, or will it be Warner?but one boneheaded play in a half is pretty good.
Disagree. This job was won by Warner last week. It's the final week of the preseason where teams generally rest their starter. Warner went 4 for 4 and done for the night. To me, that's everything you we need to know.Clear as mud.So did Leinart look good enough to win the job, or will it be Warner?
Really? If you are basing it off this game, then I don't get it. I'm in the Warner camp, but Leinart played a nearly flawless game. When Warner completed the 25 yard pass to Boldin on a 3rd and 14, he clinched the week 1 start, IMO, despite no scoring drives. But Leinart came in, bounced back from a horrendous trip to Oakland, and did exactly what you would want a young QB with decimated confidence to do.He opened his first drive by being sacked inside the 10 because Hightower missed an assignment. It was an ominous start. But again, I give Leinart credit, he came back, marched his team down the field by completing 4 straight passes for 87 yards and a TD on his first drive. Facing adversity, he answered, and it was impressive (even against a lineup of mostly 2nd stringers). He was accurate, he was poised. I was reassured. He finished 10-14 for 177 yards and a TD in 1 1/2 quarters of play. 1 of his incomplete passes looked ugly but was credited to a bad route, another was dead on but the receiver couldn't hang on, and a third was bobbled for what would have been a TD. The 4th incompletion might have been the lateral, which was ugly, not sure how that is scored. But he was fired up and looked like the guy from year one under Denny Green. In essence, as a Cards fan I have been consumed with the QB issue, and I have been advocating Warner since the KC game. But I walked away from this game thinking....I don't really care anymore, I have confidence in both of them. In fact, I can't think of a better 1-2 QB combo in the league, not a bad situation to be in. I believe Warner will win the job, but I'll be happy either way, Leinart looked that good....-FEDERALDisagree. That play was awful. I think you're significantly underestimating the gap between a first string defense playing in the regular season and 2nd/3rd stringers in a preseason contest if you walked away from this ONE game willing to wipe the slate clean for Lienart.Really? The Arizona Republic expects a decision on the Cardinals' QB situation by "Monday at the latest."Coach Ken Whisenhunt wouldn't name a starter after the exhibition finale, but could pick a QB by as soon as Saturday. Matt Leinart exhibited a strong arm Friday night. We'd put his chances of getting the nod at about 20%. Source: Arizona Republic
So you're saying there's a chance....The Arizona Republic expects a decision on the Cardinals' QB situation by "Monday at the latest."

Leinart vs. scrubs... Well, it worked for him in college.
I'm just saying that you really couldn't ask him to do much more.I think you're significantly underestimating the gap between a first string defense playing in the regular season and 2nd/3rd stringers in a preseason contest if you walked away from this ONE game willing to wipe the slate clean for Lienart.Really? I'm in total agreement with you. I meant, "For Leinart, one boneheaded play is pretty good." I didn't mean it was OK for a "normal" QB.Disagree. That play was awful.
