With Fitz out for a few weeks and a rookie QB behind center, is it time for Pope to start living up to his potential sooner rather than later.

The Cards will likely be down and need to throw plenty against the Bears - so is this week, on national TV, going to be his coming out party?

I don't think so . The TE has been lightly targeted with Bergen targeted 8 times and Pope 7 times and that's thru 5 weeks.

I would expect big plays over the top to attempt to keep the blitzing down or possible getting Edge on track to use play action more effectively. They would leave the TE in to help block I would imagine.

I was thinking Pope was a sleeper but Bergen has as many looks as Pope.

This might be the week that Leinart needs a 6'8" target in the end zone (if they get that close), BUT I am not sure they can spare the TE from blocking duties against the Bears.

Actually TEs usually thrive when they face a cover 2 defense - just look how Pittsburgh loosened up the Colts defense in the playoffs last year.

That being said, Arizona won't do it, as they're not coached that well.

they need to use their TEs more in the redzone, it'd help everybody. At his size, 1 TD every 3-4 weeks would get Pope plenty of attention from the Ds

It's time....I cut him this week so he's definately a viable starter this week.

As with most people in a re-draft league, he's nothing more then a bye week filler. I picked up Wilcox to replace him if you're interested in my expectations for this week.
