Let's talk Brandon Marshall vs. the Colts (1 Viewer)

I've seen Marshall ranked all over the place on various sites. Some have him in the 30s this week vs. Indy, while a few rank him in the top 10. I don't know enough about Indy's corners to evaluate Marshall this week. Any predictions about how he will do vs. the Colts' secondary?

I think Indy wins the game something like 37 - 21. Seems like Marshall could easily net 6 catches for 80 yards and 1TD.

Marshall does not have enough of a track record to judge how he'll do against Indy's Cover-2. If he continues to excel at finding creases in the zone as he's done over the last three weeks, then he should have a fine day. Plus, he's a playmaker, and playmakers can always blow up. I have Brandon Marshall on all three of my teams and I will not sit him from here on out unless/until he gives me a reason to do so. I'm benching Cotchery vs. Bills this week to start him.

I hate predictions -- 10% logic and 90% conceit -- but I'll call 7 catches for 104 + 12 yards rushing and 1 TD. And two massive collisions with Bob Sanders.

Ten years ago when there was less than 10% of the people and 1% of the FF content now on the Internet, I used to do a better job on deciding who to start and sit. Or maybe it just seems that way.

In any case, I'm going back to that approach and starting the players who look to be needing to pass over those players whose teams figure to be ahead later in the game. Applying that logic, and adding in Walker's less than 100% health, I see Marshall as a very high quality option for this week. Virtually no one is a must start, as that depends heavily on roster makeup and league scoring, but I'd place him as top 20 for this week.

Solid analysis :X

I agree that he is a start this week, especially in start three or more WR leagues. I can't imagine a scenario where the Broncos defense plays well enough to keep Cutler from having to throw a lot (especially late in the game) and I think a high percentage of these targets will go to Marshall. Cutler and Marshall are on the upswing in terms of chemistry and targets (8, 7, and 11 so far this year), so I see Marshall getting lots of action in front of the Indianapolis back four. I'd want two or three truly superior options to Marshall to consider not starting him.

Purely as an example, I've convinced myself to roll with Marshall over Holmes; he is seeing more targets (3, 6, and 3 for Holmes) and is a more dynamic receiver than Santonio at this point.

Denver's passing game will do fine if Cutler is not hampered by his injury. I haven't heard anything about it so I'll assume he is fine.

I just can't see Denver keeping up with Indy. Not on the turf and not with they've been giving up the run.

I'm starting Marshall every week now. Really don't care what the matchup is as long as Cutler is healthy. He's on the team with the league's best CB tandem.

Believe it or not, I was considering starting Marshall over Boldin BEFORE I read that Boldin was hurt :penalty:

Interesting example. How much is impacted by the injury status of Ward and Walker? That is, if you knew that Ward would not play and Walker would, would you start Holmes?

Gotta tell ya, while Marshall is starting to look like he might be special, with Javon being dinged up this week I think Brandon Stokley is the sneaky play this week.

Definitely. The Denver TEs could even get themselves a score Sunday.

I got a chance to see this guy play last week and he looked like a big fast pro WR. You gotta figure Indy will score alot of points and Cutler will have to throw some TD's. I am starting Brandon Marshall!!

Even if Ward didn't go and Walker did, I'd start Marshall. I don't see Holmes' looks doubling (or more) just because Ward is out. Pittsburgh will feed FWP the rock against Arizona, while Marshall is getting the targets even with a healthy Walker across from him.

My only concerns are 1. If Walker cannot play (he says he will) or has to leave the game early due to his injury, all the coverage will roll to Marshall. 2. Also, if Cutler is limited by his ankle it could effect his performance. I seen Marshall ranked around 28 as a WR this week, seems about right when you look at the potential injury issues with Denver.

I think Marshall could do ALOT of things this week. This week for him is the biggest week of his career IMO. With Javon not dressing out, people want to know what Brandon Marshall will show up. Will he be double teamed if Javon doesnt play? , How will he respond to that? I'm leaning more towards him not doing so great being they may put double coverage on him BUT I think in PPR you roll with him, I see 8+ catches , low yardage , 50/50 shot for a TD.
