According to exit polls, HRC won 45% of the high school or less demographic.Who cares what percentage? There's a lot of them. They identify with the GOP.
You guys are perfectly illustrating the point. Here I'll help: https://maxpics.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/kkk-yes-we-klan-elephant.jpgHow dare you not tolerate this!
More trash voted for Clinton.I believe that to be true.
Stating a fact isn't intolerance. White trash voted for Trump, I feel comfortable saying that.
I'm not standing outside Waffle House spray painting pickups, or attacking every guy in a backwards baseball cap with tribal tats.
Gosh, that's not very tolerant. You win the 'Useful Idiot' of the day award. Congrats.
That's unpossible!According to exit polls, HRC won 45% of the high school or less demographic.
Does that contradict my statement? I don't think so.According to exit polls, HRC won 45% of the high school or less demographic.
And, while we're at it, what about the ex-con vote? Democrats were in a frenzy to register as many ex-cons as they could in Virginia. Don't know about other states. "Vote Hillary! 90% of America's ex-cons can't be wrong!"What percentage of the overall population do you classify this way? What party do you think wins the high school dropout vote?
cstu? And, while we're at it, what about the ex-con vote? Democrats were in a frenzy to register as many ex-cons as they could in Virginia. Don't know about other states. "Vote Hillary! 90% of America's ex-cons can't be wrong!"
Let's remember that, while the GOP/Trump won the election, they lost the popular vote. The demographics for the Left is younger, urban dwelling, and diverse as much as anything. We represent the great cities of America often times. I'm not against small towns, rural America, the Heartland or the South but let's not rhapsodize about GOP representing the poor and middle class. The Dems are just as much the part of the poor, disenfranchised and vulnerable as the GOP is. The GOP is just as much a part of the 1% as the Dems are too.Well, that's kind of the point. This caricature that you guys have created and believe in is a fallacy. Sure, there's deplorables on both sides, but they don't represent anywhere close to the majority on either side. The left has created a caricature of themselves (highly educated, intellectually superior etc...) and also a caricature of the right... both are nonsense and I believe this contributed to Trumps win.
Don't take it from me, I linked to a NYT article in the OP that does a much better job than me of laying this all out.
Whatever delusion works for you.Does that contradict my statement? I don't think so.
Liberal: We must respect everyone's rights and opinions. Free speech and diversity are important. They are pillars to what makes us who we are.Conservative: We must stop political correctness!
Liberal: You sound like an idiot.
Conservative: Help! I'm being personally attacked!
Yup, you Trump voters certainly showed us you're no idiots.Liberal: We must respect everyone's right and opinions. Free speech and diversity are important. They are pillars to what makes us who we are.
Random person: I believe in {INSERT COMMENT THAT DOESN'T JIVE WITH SAID LIBERAL'S IDEOLOGY}.
Liberal: You're a small-minded idiot. A bigot, a racist, and just not bright. It's people like you that make this country terrible.
Random person: Oh....
Liberal: God, you people are so stupid. I can't believe Trump is president.
I voted for Gary Johnson, but great job of driving my point home.Yup, you Trump voters certainly showed us you're no idiots.
Sick of hear about how the Dems are growing and will take over in a few years JUST wait. We lost because some people are too %#$#% lazy or stupid to vote. The Dems didn't fight the new voter restrictions like they should have and NOW we get trump. Eat it and smile you lazy $#%# I hope they choke.Let's remember that, while the GOP/Trump won the election, they lost the popular vote. I haven't unearthed anything. I linked to three liberals journalists that seem to have come to a similar conclusion. The thing you seem to not be comprehending is that this tactic is hurting discourse and the overall good. We need both sides. Left-minded people bring a lot of good to the table and so do Right-minded. The reason we end up with a Trump is because people have been marginalized and are angry and the lefts continued insistence that the right is just a bunch of closeted KKK members only exacerbates the situation.Intolerance is one of the key planks in this awful platform, and you want everyone to be tolerant of your intolerance. You think you've unearthed some amazing hypocrisy because liberals won't silently allow this.
Whatever. It's terribly hypocritical. You got me!! I admit it. yawn.
Well, I never said that idiots were exclusively Trump voters.I voted for Gary Johnson.
Did I strike a nerve?Well, I never said that idiots were exclusively Trump voters.
I pretty much agree with everything you're saying. Take a look county by county... sure the young tend to lean left, as they always have, but Clinton got 54% of the millennial vote... hardly a landslide. My point is, republicans and democrats are not as different as they are being portrayed. Take a look at the other demographics... they tend to be pretty close. And the continued effort to portray republicans as imbeciles and democrats as the enlightened does absolutely nothing to move the county forward... in fact in does the exact opposite: Trump.Let's remember that, while the GOP/Trump won the election, they lost the popular vote. The demographics for the Left is younger, urban dwelling, and diverse as much as anything. We represent the great cities of America often times. If people wanted the left to stop thinking folks on the right are all racist xenophobes, electing Trump was one of the worst possible things that could have happened. What this election did is "prove" to the left that the right is in fact all closeted KKK members.I haven't unearthed anything. I linked to three liberals journalists that seem to have come to a similar conclusion. The thing you seem to not be comprehending is that this tactic is hurting discourse and the overall good. I'm not saying anything about Dems growing or taking over. Dems lost and GOP won for myriad reasons. What I *am* saying is this notion of the Left being "out of touch" or not speaking for all American is patently absurd. Dems have a pretty big tent. They lost the election by a pretty narrow margin really - a few votes in keys states could have made the difference - but Dem Party values are still pretty popular.Sick of hear about how the Dems are growing and will take over in a few years JUST wait. We lost because some people are too %#$#% lazy or stupid to vote. The Dems didn't fight the new voter restrictions like they should have and NOW we get trump. So this line got me thinking about a line I heard yesterday, which sums up what actually happened earlier this week (and for the past few months).....Most of the rest of the right coalesced behind Trump in the general, not because they agreed with some of the crazier things he has said, but because they don't take a lot of what he says literally (and they hated HRC)... and there you have it.
As people get older, move out of the basement, get jobs, pay taxes and start a family, they'll become republicans.I pretty much agree with everything you're saying. Take a look county by county... sure the young tend to lean left, as they always have, but Clinton got 54% of the millennial vote... hardly a landslide. Indeed... if more respectful tactics were employed I think you'd see more of your platform enacted.I'm not saying anything about Dems growing or taking over. Dems lost and GOP won for myriad reasons. What I *am* saying is this notion of the Left being "out of touch" or not speaking for all American is patently absurd. Dems have a pretty big tent. You didn't need both sides when Obama was elected.I haven't unearthed anything. I linked to three liberals journalists that seem to have come to a similar conclusion. In heavy-populated urban areas? Absolutely. The rest of the country? Not so much. Just look at the red/blue on votes in each state.I'm not saying anything about Dems growing or taking over. Dems lost and GOP won for myriad reasons. What I *am* saying is this notion of the Left being "out of touch" or not speaking for all American is patently absurd. Dems have a pretty big tent. I think a key here is that when it comes to issues such as anti-gay, some on the right will support laws restricting the rights of gays, and that is what the left won't tolerate. Nobody is saying the right should not be allowed to express or hold whatever beliefs they have.Liberal: We must respect everyone's right and opinions. Free speech and diversity are important. They are pillars to what makes us who we are.

The way it was the last 8 years? Obama strike you as disrespectful?Indeed... if more respectful tactics were employed I think you'd see more of your platform enacted.
I don't think Dems portray themselves as enlightened anymore than the GOP often regard Dems and big cities as cesspools filled with Godless heathens.I pretty much agree with everything you're saying. Take a look county by county... sure the young tend to lean left, as they always have, but Clinton got 54% of the millennial vote... hardly a landslide. My point is, republicans and democrats are not as different as they are being portrayed. Take a look at the other demographics... they tend to be pretty close. Well, now that they don't need it, maybe it was good practice. You didn't need both sides when Obama was elected.
The side that wins suddenly preaches compromise. The right has zero, ZERO interest in compromise for the last 8 years. Who are you kidding?
I guess that's my point. I'm not anti-gay and I didn't vote for Clinton, but most liberals wouldn't even take the time to figure out I'm a reasonable, educated, nuanced person that simply disagrees with the policies of the democratic party. In many liberal eyes, I'm already branded as an intolerant bigot.I think a key here is that when it comes to issues such as anti-gay, some on the right will support laws restricting the rights of gays, and that is what the left won't tolerate. Nobody is saying the right should not be allowed to express or hold whatever beliefs they have.
There you go: claim victory, at least here's an honest man.Well, now that they don't need it, maybe it was good practice.
I respectfully disagree. We Americans ^#%^ hate each other and that is how we find our identity. Anything that hurts the groups that they hate will get their full support.I'm not saying anything about Dems growing or taking over. Dems lost and GOP won for myriad reasons. What I *am* saying is this notion of the Left being "out of touch" or not speaking for all American is patently absurd. Dems have a pretty big tent. Logically, a wall. If you deport first, they can just sneak back over. There you go: claim victory, at least here's an honest man.
They have complete control, no excuses right? We're gonna make America great again.
What happens first, mass deportation or the wall?
Serious question.
Was going to say the same thing. I went to a liberal arts school. It's funny how many of them who were hard core lefties started shifting toward the middle (and we're still in our mid to late 30s) and may continue to move more to the right as they get to their 40s, 50s and 60s.As people get older, move out of the basement, get jobs, pay taxes and start a family, they'll become republicans.
If that were actually the practice, I don't think you'd find many reasonable people that disagree with you. But if you cry wolf on racism and bigotry at any person who doesn't vote for your candidate, you're being intolerant. And it rubs people the wrong way.i have zero problem with being intolerant of racism, homophobia, xenophobia, bigotry, classicism.
Reminds me of a line a friend likes to say, "If you are young and don't vote liberal, you don't have a heart. If you are older and you don't vote conservative, you don't have a brain."As people get older, move out of the basement, get jobs, pay taxes and start a family, they'll become republicans.
Serious answer will be to change our foreign policy to benefit Russia. Deportation is next but trump will be have to be able to at least triple with immigration agents, OR he could just declare a national emergency and then authorize military to do it. if he chooses the military then he could get the trains running and a few weeks. Give them a bottle of water and drop them off about 1/2 mile from the border. Tell them if we see them again there is a second train car that leads to a place where no one ever comes back. There you go: claim victory, at least here's an honest man.
They have complete control, no excuses right? We're gonna make America great again.

I know I am in the minority on this, but he has always come across and arrogant and condescending most times I have heard him speak. Never came across as a great communicator to me, but part of that is probably that I disagreed with much of what he said...although I also didn't agree on much with Bill C, but did think he gave a great speech. The way it was the last 8 years? Obama strike you as disrespectful?
The lack of awareness here is scary.
