I'm not all all disappointed. Now, instead of making the "glam" pick Millen likes to make he'll be forced to address a need and pick Thomas or Gaines.
Agreed. At first, I was like, "WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU MORONS DOING!?" But the more I look at it, the more I could care less if we had the #1 overall or not. Actually, if you think about it, it's not so bad. The #2 pick will get a little less $$ than #1 more than likely, so it can save them a tad bit o' money. If it came down to possibly getting a "can't miss" prospect, like a Reggie Bush or something, then I'd be upset. But this year, there doesn't seem to be a prospect that is head-and-shoulders above everyone. There's several I wouldn't mind them drafting...I'm not all all disappointed. Now, instead of making the "glam" pick Millen likes to make he'll be forced to address a need and pick Thomas or Gaines.1. A win over a playoff team lightens the losing season, just a little.2. I really don't care if we get Gaines, Thomas or Quinn. All will be great players. Not as good as CJ, but the WR gag is overdone. (although still a need
)

Nope, Detroit would have "won" the tiebreaker based on a worse strength of schedule than Oakland.I DON'T want Quinn, and I think this helps that a little. We saw in week 17 what Kitna can do if he's not pressured (granted, Dallas pretty much mailed it in). He is not the problem, the line is. Take Thomas at 2, a DE in the 2nd, and sign Ahman Green.Besides, Oakland already had the 1st pick locked up didn't they?
You can't actually believe that Kitna has much of a future for Detroit. He'll be 35 at the start of next season. Unless you think the Lions have a shot at winning the Superbowl in the next 2-3 years, Kitna is nothing more than a band-aid. Better to get Brady Quinn and have him ready to play in 2008 or 2009.Nope, Detroit would have "won" the tiebreaker based on a worse strength of schedule than Oakland.I DON'T want Quinn, and I think this helps that a little. I thought OAK had the tie breaker, but I agree with you on Quinn. I'm not convinced he's going to make a great pro. Besides look at what happens when ever Detroit takes a top prospect at QB, ala A. Ware and J. Harrington. Especially with Millen back, we can't count on him to make the right decision. I still think O-line or Def end is the way to go. You could put a monkey in at QB if they could protect it.Nope, Detroit would have "won" the tiebreaker based on a worse strength of schedule than Oakland.I DON'T want Quinn, and I think this helps that a little. That pretty much summs it up.As long as losers Ford/Millen are in charge, what difference will it make?
I am glad they won.The Lions have ben in many games only to lose right at the end.Plus they would screw up the #1 pick anyway.
I like your thoughts, but I think KJ makes an unreal recovery and is back for start of season and is a force next year. I don't think they need Ahman, and I think Jones will shock us all and be a force next year! Not shock us that he is good, but shock us by rehabilitating hard and being healthy!Nope, Detroit would have "won" the tiebreaker based on a worse strength of schedule than Oakland.I DON'T want Quinn, and I think this helps that a little. Not at all. All this does is relieve some of the pressure if you ask me.
Any pick is a gamble, including drafting a tackle.I'd rather build on our OL than gamble on a QB.

I think Kitna has a future in Detroit, even if he is not the long term answer. He's fine for a couple of years while we just try to get back to .500 or so. You're right in that we need a future at QB beyond that, and he's not it. I really don't think it's Quinn, either. My statement was as much anti-Quinn as it was pro-Kitna.You can't actually believe that Kitna has much of a future for Detroit. He'll be 35 at the start of next season.
