Lions to win 12 games this year (1 Viewer)

CHOO CHOO!For those worried about the secondary, even against the great teams you will still have that pass rush. If Im going up against GB, NO, NE, etc. I want Detroit's pass rush, not Philly's CB's. Against great passing teams like that, you gotta get to the QB, not hope your pro bowl CBs can hold coverage long enough.
:goodposting:Elite QBs will burn you if you continually rely on blitzing to get pressure. If you can keep seven in coverage and still force them get the ball out quickly you have a chance. How are the Lions fans looking at this game? With Miles out and just about everyone else gimpy, it won't be quite the test of the Lion's passing D we thought it would be. The biggest concern has to be the Dallas pass rush and lack of a legitimate rushing threat to keep them honest, right?

ya really not going to be the same matchup you would expect if dallas was at full strength. but i'm glad that its not the lions coming in banged up.

dallas defense will keep the ground game in check which is going to allow them to keep pressure on stafford. lets see how well the lions o-line holds up. there is no way dallas will shut down burleson like minnesota did, look for burleson and young to have 10-15 catches combined. If stafford gets time its going to be a feast, but beware of ware.

On the defensive side, really did not get enough pressure on mcnabb last week. if mcnabb had any accuracy on the deep ball game would have been over with a td pass to jenkins who was wide on the last drive. really cant allow that with romo doesnt matter if austin is in or not. i think the lions will easily shut down the run game and also apply pressure on this inexperienced o-line. romo is good for at least a couple picks in this one. lions look good to win provided they dont do stupid things such as all out blitz on 3rd and 21.

Congrats to you Lions fans. Ecspecially to those who have been fans your whole life. My heart is and will always be for the Redskins. But being from Detroit, and my dad still living up there, I'm glad what there doing. NOW LETS GO TIGERS!!!!

Tigers are going pretty good.

RomoFreemanBrees - seriously...Rodgers - see aboveRyanBradford - oh yeahETA: just off the top of my head are those
Stafford now 2-0 against the QBs on this list. :coffee:
Good thing Stafford hasnt had to go against the mighty Sam Bradford yet
Yes he is - I underrated the guy. I'd still rather have Romo (even after the picks, one of which was 100% the receiver's fault), Rodgers, Brees. The homer in me pulls for Bradford still and screams that he doesn't have a single weapon as good as even Burleson in the passing game, much less Pettigrew of Megatron.Would rather have Stafford over Freeman at this point for sure - not sure what I was thinking there.Of course, the biggest argument here was that somebody called him the #2 QB behind Vick - putting him ahead of Brees and Rodgers - anybody want to defend that statement still?

Been watching the Lions and passionately supporting them since Greg landry was the QB. Gone through a few dozen QBs waiting for Stafford to come along, but man is it sweet now that he's here. This is fun.

You must not mind losing the game in the 4th quarter then huh?

Speaking of Landry, I believe he was the last Lion QB to make the pro bowl.

Looking like Rodgers, Brees, and Stafford this year. Eli playing some surprisingly decent ball too, but the Lions are the story of the season so far so it's hard to imagine him beating out Stafford even if he gets a statistical edge.

color me impressed. I did not think there was a chance in the world they do better than 10 wins, with 8-9 in a reasonable shot.

I think they are a real threat to beat the Packers and have a shot of going to the SB - even winning

I'm not sure if each conference has always had 3 QBs sent, but 6 QBs X 40 years = 240 QBs picked since the last Lion.

Watch out NFL when Stafford stops missing wide open td throws.
Yeah, Stafford is missing guys early in games a good bit. He's got to calm his emotions a bit it seems. He's overshooting them and it looks like he's just too excited early on. He is really coming on in the 2nd half of the game though and doesn't seem to miss at all once the early jitters are out. He's completing over 63% of his passes which is an impressive number. It seems like he could be at 70% or better though.

According to Football Outsiders we should all be taking the 49ers seriously next weekend against Detroit. The only Niners action I've seen all year is the last few minutes of the Seattle game where Gin scored two returns, so I can't say I have much of a handle on them. I was surprised to see they have the #2 scoring defense right now, and Alex Smith is quietly #3 in passer rating in the NFL. What are you guys thinking about the matchup?

I take them very seriously.

There might be like 4 defenses in the league as good as SF, so for those 4 teams, you might be correct

Most teams just aren't that good on defense. Stafford looked bad today too. Something seemed wrong. And why not one red zone target to megatron, simply ridiculous. Stafford probably threw 8 balls into the end zone, so there was plenty of opportunity.

This is not a 12 win team. They could easily be 3-4 right now if Minnesota and Dallas had not melted down in two of the most epic choke jobs of the season. Two games left against Green Bay. Tough games @Chicago and @ New Orleans. The Lions will be lucky to finish 10-6.
I think they are as tough of a matchup for GB as anyone because of their front 4. They still have a good shot at 7-2, they just cant keep putting themselves behind the 8 ball in the first halfETA: going 7-2 the rest of the year to make them 12-4

No way this team wins 12 this year. They need Best in there as they have no threat out of the backfield now. If Stafford is out they won't even make the playoffs. May not anyway.

The oline is beginning to get exposed. They have no running game and the DBs are still a clear weakness. Still a lot of potential for this group because of a few stars on the rise but the back half schedule is brutal and 12 wins is not looking likely now. Det needed to win at least 1 of those last 2 IMO. I still think they are a solid shot for a WC.

They need Best out there ASAP. Stafford was a different QB today without his #1 security blanket to throw to. He may not play next week, but I would be surprised if Best isn't out there after the bye.

I hope you are right, but if Best is out this team will struggle to move the ball. I don't think the secondary can hang with the GB receivers (who can?) so there is 2 likely losses right there. It will be tough to snag a WC spot I fear.

LIONS FAN:

Linehan first quarter plan:

1) Every f***ing 1st down we will run the shotgun handoff and gain no more than 2 yards. If we get more than 1 yard we repeat this on second down.

2) We will not waste Calvin Johnson's energy reserve by throwing to him in the first quarter.

If we are still within 10 points of the opponent we will continue this strategy into the second quarter.
