Little League Slumpbuster Tips? (1 Viewer)

Have you tried steroids?

Seriously though, sounds like he's pressing. Go out and do some soft toss with him batting opposite handed. Do it long enough where he's just focusing on the ball and timing and trying really hard to make contact. Then remind him that we play sports because they are fun and don't really mean anything at the end of the day. Tell him to go up to bat thinking about his favorite movie, or tell him a joke before he goes up, or think about vacation, anything to get his mind off of actually hitting. If his mind is somewhere else, the rest is muscle memory and mechanics taking over and letting him hit.
I like this idea of getting his mind elsewhere. Maybe hire a stripper for an hour to walk behind the backstop in a string bikini and call his name out as he walks to the plate. (Do what you want with the other 59 minutes)

Quick update....

I took him for an eye exam that Saturday and we found out that he is far-sighted and has an astigmatism in his right eye. This explained alot as his right eye is the dominant eye in batting as he's left-handed. My son gave me a smile and we picked up new sport goggles the next day. He went through a team practice and we worked at home before his next game. Since this time he's played in two tournaments and 5 games - all of which he has only struck out 3 times. Any other time is a solid line drive for a base hit or he has walked. His confidence is grown tremendously and he's moved from batting 10th up to 6th in the lineup.

He never complained about vision issues before, but it all added up. He has hated reading and struggled sounding out new words. Knowing that he couldn't see things clearly up close, it's no wonder he didn't speak up before. He has his "school" glasses and his "game glasses" and won't leave either pair at home now. Quite a change in his attitude. Thanks to those in here for the suggestion!

With that said, his glasses aren't helping him in the pitching department, as he's still fairly wild. But at least now I have a reason to get him the Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn glasses with the skull & croossbones on the ear pieces!
