live Grateful Dead (1 Viewer)

Speaking of Grateful Dead cover bands ;)....Grateful Shred released their first album today,
Really enjoy these guys. Never seen them live but stumbled upon this Shining Star cover years ago and listen to it often

Saw this line up live 3-4 years ago. They were really good. The 2 guys on the ends left. They are in another band together called Mapache. Saw some vids of the current Shred lineup and they sound good too. They don't seem to play the Midwest too often, but would see them again.

I'm not a Deadhead, but I have a couple of co-workers that are (one of them followed/traveled with them for decades), and they said that SF is going to be nuts this weekend. "Shakedown Street" and numerous pre-show and post-show organized jam sessions.

I live on the other end of Haight Street and have seen a lot of tie-dye this week. A gallery in the next block has a Dead poster exhibit and folks were lining up this morning before opening. The crowds flocking to town these days have much nicer luggage than the freaks who used to camp out in line at the Civic in the old days.

Anyone watching? Bobby seems really off, and the sound is just plain terrible. No bass in the mix.

I walked the dog up Haight to Golden Gate Park earlier to check out the scene. The Upper Haight was very crowded with lots of vendors set up on the sidewalks even though the formal Shakedown Street is set up nearer to the concert venue. There were so many people clustered around the corner of Haight & Ashbury that I had to pick Lou up so nobody stepped on him.

The bars seemed much busier than usual for 1PM Saturday and there was a line to get into the "church"/mushroom dispensary. Hope all the visitors stay safe and spend lots of money while in the city.

This is hard to watch, and is really easing any existing/future Sphere FOMO.
Bummer. Banger of a setlist. Going tomorrow. Friend bought a ticket.

Of course if I was in the area I'd still go. I think the issue is I haven't seen or even watched these guys for 2 years, since their last tour. I missed Bob when he was in town with Wolf Bros last year. These shows, while I am completely thankful for, are a stark reminder that the years are catching up. As a fan since I first saw them in '89, it's difficult to watch.

Yeah, it’s time for the boys to call it. Let their music live on through the countless banks out there playing their music today. John Meyer can join JrAD or build his own band playing the catalog.

Went yesterday. Was outstanding. Loved the Trey/John interplay during Scarlet-Fire. China Rider was great, as was Sugaree.

Special night that exceeded expectations.
I wanted to get tickets when it was announced but missed the sale date and didn't want to pay secondary prices. Lots of jerry day stuff in the bay as it was.

Saw a great show last night. First band, acoustic dead covers. Second band - a ******* incredible drag Dead cover band (Bertha). And third, a JGB cover.

I must say drag band Bertha was so damn fun. Like I know I was really high, but that is not an uncommon thing when I am enjoying some Dead tunes. It was the vibe and the absurdity of it all. It was wonderful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqfUm1tR_vA&t=2140s Not from last night, but just a dose of what I enjoyed
