live Grateful Dead (1 Viewer)

Box set release date 11-20-15. Audio/visual CD and DVD or Blu-ray sets of the final three shows in Chicago, link from their site (limited to 20,000). One reason I didn't pay for the stream, I was hoping for exactly this. The final July 5 show avail. separately (4 CDs and 2 DVDs or Blu-rays), going out on a limb and predicting this could be a long show, even by the Dead's epic standards!! :)

man its tough hearing weir sing jerry's songs. jerry's vocal phrasings were perfectly tucked in rhythm. its contrary to weir's sensibilities as a simultaneous singer/player and he struggles with it. it's like every line creates a challange for the others to stay locked in he's so disjointed.
yeah it's not perfect but if you're not enjoying this you need to recalibrate or just stop watching. this set has been killer
its been fantastic. sorry, saul goodbrah!
that set was awesome. trey went rogue during hell in a bucket. they crushed that set.
I didnt listen, what does this mean?

trey appeared to disregard a cue from weir, something jerry would do on occasion as well as weir has a bad habit of reigning in a jam that is clearly still developing. phil and weir are not good bandleaders and it pretty funny to watch two very successful bandleaders in trey and hornsby in the position of having to try to follow them.

I'm going Friday. Did Bruce sing at all or was it just Bobby and Phil?
Bruce sang a few last night.

Has Trey has lead vocals on any song yet?
I just assumed that Trey wouldn't be singing at all. I know Bobby is very protective of the catalog... Glad Bruce is singing though! Which ones did he sing? Kids and all have kept me from the webcasts and I intitally didn't want to know anything before walking in on Friday night. Now I can't wait, I need to know.

I knew I would wake up this morning upset that I didn't go again last night. For those that listened to the stream, what was your choice of poison (if any) and how much? I really miss the days of being able to really enjoy some good reef but alas keeping my job is more important, that said I think I must have had between 8-13 beers before going into the show (4 hours) and maybe 4-5 more during the show. Everyone seemed to be either baked off their ###, tripp'n on acid/shrooms or just as drunk which made up for their lack of cohesion on saturday night.

Ok, we got there about 5 I think and hit the employee parking lot and one other and immediately you could tell the difference from 20 years ago. Way less sketchy people, the vibe was still that of family which meant I said no to all the cookies and brownies I was offered.

Alright, get inside and realize that 3 of our friends are GA and are gonna head to the field while the rest of us (5) are going to spread out to our collective seats when suddenly the light goes off in someones head and they say hold on. Buddy goes down and comes back up now wearing an orange wrist band and a huge smile, basically they slap the wrist band on and put a small dot on the back of the ticket. Yep, all of us take that ticket and get our orange wrist band to watch from the field level, total time to make it happen was like 15 minutes because everytime someone got theirs they would smoke a celebratory jay.

So much more but things got a bit fuzzy after Alligator until about Viola Lee Blues. The break was almost as long as St. Stephen which once again put everyone in a frenzy as the biggest buzz all day had been that they would play it. Suddenly Morning Dew and Casey Jones were on us and the lights came on as they all said good night, about midnight, it was then that Phil decided to ramble on for like 5 minutes about gay pride and something else but he was so f'n hard to understand.

The rainbow and the rain made it all seem like a dream, although there is debate going on right now as to whether or not the rainbow was real or fake! I would love to give this story a happy ending but on the way home sunday I stopped off for some lunch and roughly 3 hours later was met with an amazing case of food poisoning

Trey sang cream puff war for sure and Bruce sang casey jones, although so did the entire Levi stadium.

little bit of fun guy here last night. and wine. then beer. and a couple tequilas.

there are some unholy smells coming out of my body today.

Amazing show, beginning to end. One of my top 3 concert experiences. Trey won the crowd over. He tore it up. Mickey, and then Phil, seemed to give him a special sort of thumbs up when they took their bow.

And I'm sure the DVD/Blu Ray combo pack will be available for your holiday shopping needs as well. Hopefully we'll still be able to freely trade these shows via dime and traders den.

Anyone listen on Sirius? How was it? Thinking I'll do that for some of the Chicago shows; maybe even DVR it thru Dish network

if you only have 20-30 minutes, the post 1/2 step jam>wharf rat>jam is what you need to hear. easily the best stretch of music of he two nights.

he said he's uploading the first set. looking forward to a second viewing of that as well.
For sure. That was the first time all weekend that the band clicked with what Trey was doing and let him drive the jams. It worked. They need to blueprint that for Chicago.

that was the first time all weekend the band really clicked at all. they started to sound like the grateful dead rhythm section.

Well set 1 Saturday night was really good. Love the old tunes like Alligator and Viola Lee Blues. Have since relistened and the Viola is holding up well.

Set 2 was a complete mental breakdown. While my story might be amusing to some not sure I'm ready to tell it on here.

I feel ya and all I consumed was liqour. Somewhere between st. stephen and casey jones I consumed enough on the day/evening to completely black out. I remember coming back to reality during casey jones and my friends just laughing their asses off at me. The worst part? They were tripping on shrooms and still more coherent than me. fark

Oh come on, we're a fun and forgiving crowd. Most of us have probably have probably been where you were.

Sirus the only place to hear Chicago or will it stream somewhere else. People still pay for satellite radio?
