From Rotoworld:

Larry Johnson has reportedly told teammates that he has a cracked foot.

L.J. was seen walking with socks on and no protective boot in the Chiefs' locker room Thursday. He plans to return later in the season, but it appears the best return date Johnson can hope for is Week 14 or so if what he's saying behind closed doors is true. Priest Holmes will be starting until then.

--------------------------------

Do the Chiefs really bother bringing him back if they fall out of contention?

Im pretty sure Shaun ALexander played with a cracked bone in his foot last year. Not saying these injuries are similar or anything but it can be done

Too lazy to cut and paste the article...but on CBS they have a write up on LJ stating that he is walking without a limp and vows to return.

:goodposting: Why do people keep using this rationalization? If he is fully heeled he will play regardless of their record.

Why is this so hard to understand?Option 1 - Out of playoff contention:

If he isn't fully healed, they can consider sitting him so he doesn't risk further injury or delay his recovery.

Option 2 - Still in playoff contention:

If he isn't fully healed, he might come back at less than 100% to help the Chiefs take a shot at the playoffs.

I believe if a player is 100% healthy he will play no matter what his team’s playoff picture is. If LJ is healthy he will play, same with ADP

Thank God for a new LJ thread. I was going through withdrawal. I hope he sits until my playoffs start and then I unleash him for 3 straight BIG games in route to the title. :moneybag:

I don't know about you but it would be tough for me to start him in week 14 if that's his 1st game back. Although the Denver matchup is a little tempting....

:wall: I can't remember a scenario where a coach ever 'shut down' a player when he was healthy. It seems to be the 'buzz-comment' of this season. PLEASE STOP IT!

It happens every year. Nervous fantasy owners being pessimistic :bag:

I think if you're going to rely on him to win you a championship, you're in trouble.
relying on him would be bad, but getting him back for a champ run is critical. he is one of the best running backs in football. Getting him back would be anything but troublesome if you ask me.

Larry Johnson will play again this season. Well, at least, that's what the Kansas City Chiefs star running back believes.

Johnson had not addressed the media since injuring his right foot in a Nov. 4 game against the Green Bay Packers. He spoke Thursday night on Carl Peterson's weekly radio show.

"A lot of people don't realize that my foot was swollen bad and I was on crutches for maybe two or three days," said Johnson, who earlier in the day was walking around the Arrowhead locker room with only a sock on the injured foot. "This is only the (second) week and I'm able to walk fine without using a boot.''

I agree entirely.... As an LJ owner I've made moves to acquire a couple other RBs as a contingency but KC's schedule is great the rest of the season and I'd like to be in a position to use him if he comes back healthy. I would most likely want to see him produce in at least one game before starting him in a one and done playoff scenario though.

:heavysigh:

Having just about decided to go with Westbrook and Portis the rest of the way in my keeper league- with trades of LJ for Gonzalez or Winslow and depth on the table(Braylon/Fitz @ WR)- I have to deal with this "great" news?

Based on the uncertainty, I'm going to pull the trigger on one of those trades tonight.

Having your best back in the backfield is a better draw than sitting him when he's healthy. There's a monetary stake here as well.

Just sharing a little insight into one LJ owner's dilemna at the trading deadline. And your contribution was...?

can you guys stick to injury updates. i come in here for freaking updates on LJ and it's just a bunch of people bickering back and forth about their stupid fantasy teams and fake injuries.

Regardless if he's fully healthy I'm confident that LJ will play, but if he has a fracture that isn't healed then why should the team risk further injury? What monetary stake is at risk if LJ misses a few additional games at the end of the season? Are you worried that fans won't buy tickets? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the chefs remaining home games are most likely already sold out.

I'm sitting in good position to get a first round bye in week 14. I'm hoping to get a free audition from LJ that week.

I'm thinking they have mis-diagnosed the injury and it's actually the dreaded Lis Franc injury.
Urban Legend. There is no such injury. And as far as LJ is concerned, if he comes back into the Chiefs lineup, he will make his way into mine. With so many injuries to RBs this season, I can't be too picky at this point.

Liz Franc was Napoleon's chief surgeon. When Nap's calavry would get thrown off their horses, they would many times get their foot caught in the stirrups and crush the top of their middle foot. after a couple days, all would seem ok except when they tried to mount their horses again--no could do because of the pain. so, Napoleon complained to LF and he developed a surgery where he would amputate the foot at the middle top, a couple days of healing and the calvary dudes would be ready to go again without the pain. So, that fracture of all the middle bones in the foot is for some reason called a Liz Franc fracture.

Radiologic History Exhibit
Lisfranc Fracture.—A Lisfranc fracture refers to a fracture-dislocation or fracture-subluxation of the tarsometatarsal joints, typically the second through the fifth joints with lateral displacement of the metatarsals (Fig 20). It is named for Lisfranc, a surgeon in Napoleon's army who described an amputation method through the tarsometatarsal joints (27,28,30,56). His technique saved a portion of the foot after distal injury or frostbite. "His description of amputation through the tarsal-metatarsal joints requires several pages to describe it, but it took only 1 minute for him to perform it—not too short a time for the unanesthetized patient" (

Clearly, I should have used a smiley to signify sarcasm. I am aware there is indeed an injury called a Lisfranc.

Well it gave me a good opportunity to read about partial foot amputations, so I can thank you for that. Great reading during breakfast. :lmao:

:lmao:AP wanted to go in last weekend. Down 27 they said FU. Down 3, they might have used him.

NFL.com has a story about him, going to a weekly radio show Carl Peterson does, he walk to a from his car without a limp, without a boot, and he's been healing quickly.

FOXSports.com's John Czarnecki reports that Larry Johnson's fourth metacarpal bone is "healing quite nicely" and he's likely to return to action in December.

The Czar adds that Priest Holmes should get a lot of work Sunday because he's much better in pass protection than rookie Kolby Smith. L.J. should be held onto in fantasy leagues. It appears he has a good chance to play in the final few games of the season.

FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer reports Larry Johnson will undergo an MRI on his cracked foot Monday to find out whether he'll need surgery.Glazer explains that until late this week, the Chiefs weren't able to get a good read on L.J.'s injury because the foot was too swollen. The team did know he had a crack in the foot, but weren't sure of the severity. Glazer adds that those within the Chiefs' organization aren't overly optimistic about Johnson playing again this year. He'll likely go on I.R. if he needs surgery.Per Rotoworld:
