LOL - The New York Post Point Spread Page * (1 Viewer)

Patriots asterisk aside, am I reading the "Post Standings" in the upper right corner correctly? Nine out of ten of their so-called experts in the BETTOR'S GUIDE are under .500, and the only guy above is 91-90-11? If I'm understanding it right, then these guys are an embarrassment. Flip a coin and you'd do MUCH better than paying any attention to their picks. Ugh.

That's the first thing I noticed also. Lots of people are losing their kid's college money this year.

Of course, these guys write for a living. The oddsmakers in Vegas live, eat, breathe, make love and die on the odds. Trying to outsmart Vegas is tough.

I think it's great that NY has this little * to make them feel better.

With the way the Jets are playing ... and about to lose out on the Johan Santana sweepstakes, they realy have nothing else to hang thier hats on this season.

I almost feel sory for them.

Almost.

Also take into account that the Post is not a serious newspaper. They're more into being silly and outlandish than factual or accurate.

The Post has been doing this since the day after the NFL fined Belichick and the Pats.
I've noticed this as well.Smacks of sour grapes to me. Kind of reminds me of when Sox fans would chant "Yankees Suck" at games in which the Yanks weren't even involved. If I was a New York fan I'd be embarrassed.

I think its valuable information... say maybe you don't bet on football much, then the "*" may sway you more one way or the other... though you would have lost $$ the past couple weeks. :pickle:

I love all these insecure Pats fans chiming in. If I was a Pats fan, I think I'd be more inclined to laugh at it. Then again, if I was a Pats fan, insecurity might run in the blood, so maybe I wouldn't.

Patriots fans chanted "Yankees suck" after New England's first superbowl win. It's one of the reasons why I think that New England, along with Miami, has the worst football fans in the nation. They just don't appreciate their team.

By losing out you suggest they were still actively trying to make a deal for him...Minn. wanted too much, and the "Hank"ees, decided it was not in their best interest to give up 5 prospects for 1 player. But go ahead and give up as many players as you'd like. I'd love to see Johan in Pinstripes, but not at the price they want for him.Besides, Melky brings too much energy to the clubhouse to trade away...See ya in Oct! :boxing:

If I were facing an impending asskicking, I would attempt several diversionary tactics as well. .
sounds like a man speaking from experience. Is that what you do everytime the Yankees come to town?
I remember when the Yankees were good and the Red Sox weren't winning these championships. I think it was back in the 1900s.
funny, when the Yankees were good. yeah, 13 consecutive postseasons is terrible.what do you think? you win a couple World Series Championships and you're an elite team? Listen son, the Sawks got a looooooong way to go before they can hang their hats with the Yankees. For example, it's been 18 years and Jim Rice is still waiting...

It hink it's funny. It reminds me of when Bonds was going for the record, the Boston Herald used to use a numbered syringe to track his progress with each home run he hit. Funny stuff both ways.

As for Rice, he's gonna make it in this year! The rest of the eligible players aren't as good as in previous years. Plus he was awesome!

awesome? he doesn't have a lifetime BA of .300 he doesn't have even 400 HRs - HOFers usually have at least 500and doesn't even have 2500 hits - HOFers usually have 3000the only reason he makes it will be for the reason you already stated - a weak class.

Thats a little off base. You know the Yankees still have a good team. Somebody just needs to remind them the season doesn't end in September.

Probably would have been 3 in 5 years if not for poster steroid boy Giambi.

Yes, he was awesome and a dominant hitter of his era. He probably won't make it though based on the career numbers. He lacked the longevity to post eye popping numbers. As I recall, vision issues ended his career too early. Why bring Jim Rice into the discussion?

I don't have a horse in this race (Yanks/Sox) but bringing up Giambi and steroids as a reason for the Yankees winning WS is ridiculous. You are completely delusional if you think that about half of the Red Sox team is not on HGH or some illegal enhancing drug.

While probably not very professional on the part of the Post, I got a nice chuckle out of it at least.

Worse yet is the "best bets" column. Even in their "lead pipe locks" only one person is over .500. Embarrassing.

I was talking about the 2003 ALCS playoffs that went 7 games and Giambi hit 2 home-runs in the 7th game that eked over the fence. If you don't think that had a direct influence on the game then, my friend, you are delusional.Sorry thing about sports these days is that we have to wonder about everybody. Maybe when the Mitchell Report is released next week we'll know differently but right now, Mr. Giambi is the one we KNOW was on 'roids.

I was actually contemplating going back through the records of the Post predictors for previous seasons. Their "Best Bets" are batting about 43% all year. In other words, going against their best bets is profitable even with the Vega$ vig. Unreal. That a majority of them picked the Rams against my Bengals this week gives me hope.-QG

I love all these insecure Pats fans chiming in. If I was a Pats fan, I think I'd be more inclined to laugh at it. Then again, if I was a Pats fan, insecurity might run in the blood, so maybe I wouldn't.
Oh the irony in this post.

Wow, really? Insecure comments making fun of insecure fans isn't irony? gg
Your premise is incorrect.
