London Calling - New York Jets (+2.5) v Minnesota Vikings (40.5), 9.30am EST (1 Viewer)

Right throw by Rodgers, Williams needs to know the back shoulder is coming. He'll get those later in the season.

Honestly, the Jets might have figured out some of their pass game issues, or at least Wilson/Rodgers did. Not a bad loss.

Vikings are gonna be really interesting coming out of the bye with hopefully both Jones and Hockenson.

missed the majority of the game as I was in church

as 57 other people have already noted, Rich (whom we all love & respect) should never, ever, forever, be allowed to call a Jets game

“That’s one way you could do it. Or you could just hold people accountable.”

- Aaron Rodgers, 9/29/2024

Fair point.

None of those counting stats is the standard. You haven’t met the standard since 2021. Your offensive scheme sucks & so does your execution.

You haven’t met the standard since 2021.

That's total cherry picking. A sprained thumb and an Achilles injury. You don't have to like how he does things, or his beliefs (I don't like them, either), but they had a shot in this game. This was nothing like Zach Wilson. The two aren't comparable.

it is a non-functioning offense, regardless of whether it surpasses Zach Wilson or not

First, that’s not hard to do.

Second, I think it’s seriously time to question whether Rodgers is washed.

Because I just watched the “highlights” of that game and he looked kinda washed.

I don't think anybody expected anything but a bit washed. What is needed is for him to be functional, which he seems to be.

He needs a receiver. He needs somebody like Adams. Somebody to get open in Wilson and somebody on the same page like Adams.

Too soon and too raw a wound I suppose.

Brother man I want to apologize to you.

No one on this board should understand better than I how painful a loss can sometimes be. My criticism was unwelcome & lacking in empathy.

I should know better. I’ll try to do better going forward. Love reading your posts and I’m sorry for creating a needless rift.

Oh, BL, it's not a problem. I think I took it in the right context, even. I was just cheesed off by the day's events. I hope there's no rift. I certainly still have good vibes about you as a person and about Detroit and their success. I think I was firing back because I thought that maybe you were being a little unintentionally hyperbolic due to an animus towards Rodgers.

When I said "too raw," I was kidding with Hot Sauce Guy.

There was a lot—and I mean a lot—of truth to what you said yesterday. Don't sweat it one bit.

You need not apologize. I thought about it a little later and decided that despite my initial anger (that's not the right word) I felt upon seeing your post that your post was a lot closer to the truth than I might have wanted to acknowledge; and that I actually was the one who was misdirecting my anger, which should be going towards a feckless ownership and an egomaniacal quarterback that I'm going to support and defend for some reason I can't quite explain.

TL;DR Don't sweat it, BL. You're cool by me and were fairly accurate in some of your assessment. I should have given that credit instead of concentrating on what I thought was wrong with your observations.

And thank you for the compliment. I also enjoy your posts and have missed you around to talk about Detroit lately. I hope this finds you doing well. Perhaps I've just missed your contributions, but they're eminently readable and informative and I just hadn't seen them lately (I'm also not on the board as consistently as in the past, so I really could be just missing them literally).

Yeah, you’re correct, have been absent - wifey has some medical stuff. It’ll be OK, just been trying to be more present. Should be back by YE, Lord willing & the creek don’t rise.

zero rythym, zero imagination and i would imagine a large lack of confidence in mgmt. maybe it’s rodgers being limited with mobility, more likely it’s scheme, but it seems every run is between the guards. there are no stretch runs where hall gets the ball on a pitch or outside the box. i never see a screen. rodgers rarely fakes and moves the pocket or sprints out like a boot. jets loved corley, a YAC guy they needed and he is inactive. having boing lazard as your WR2 will create issues. hall looks lost and disinterested. maybe he doesn’t like allen breathing down his neck, but then he has an awful way of showing it. in a league filled with offense, the jets simply haven’t had an offensive mind capable of game planning or making adjustments. somehow someway, gasa has a better winning % than saleh.

Oh, I have to chime in here. They're not firing Saleh during the year. All signs point to that not happening. They don't fire during the year. Woody and Chris Johnson (the owners) wouldn't even fire Adam Gase when players were running routes into each other almost by design. Football is very different from other sports. One can almost see how it will proceed if the Jets don't start winning.

Update?

I'm just glad it's Ulbrich and not Hackett. There was zero chance Hackett got fired too because of his boy ARod, but not promoting him says enough IMO.

Jets suck. Knicks suck. Yankees suck. Oh, and @rockaction sucks.

Many of you have PM’ed me asking for a glimpse into the future which I have to date left unanswered. For this match-up, I’ll give you a window so pull up a chair.

This is Robert Saleh’s final game as a head coach in the NFL.
A massive brawl breaks out on the Jets plane back from London. The two sides fight tooth and nail and leave many injured in the violent fracas. Saleh joins the ‘Kick him out of the plane on the tarmac’ side and they narrowly beat the ‘Toss him in the Atlantic’ team. Some players fight both sides to take out festering grudges but also to note that there is no wrong decision in this battle.

This situation puts Netflix in a bind. Coming off their hits Quarterback and Receiver, the 2025 edition of Coach is off to a shaky start. Thankfully, Mike McDaniel is also a participant in the docuseries. After reviewing the footage that they have from these two partial coaching seasons, Netflix pivots and releases the unedited video as a cringe comedy, Dumb and Dumbererest. This film gets a Broadway adaptation which wins a Tony for Best Original Score after the smashing success of its featured anthem There’s No Good Call on 2nd and 3 which was named after the departed coach’s infamous quote from the Monday afternoon Fire Sale(h) press conference announcing the firing. Reporters did not know if Saleh was referring to his offense or his defense with the quote and no one asked any follow-up questions because they were only there at the behest of Rich Eisen who needed a 20 minute opener to introduce his new bit Proper Reaction which ignores all his previous bum-kissing NFL rhetoric and promotes the façade that he knew it all along.

In fairness to me, it proceeded exactly as I said it would, only Rodgers did not take Hackett's demotion lying down and got the HC fired. So I was wrong about that. But the chain of events was right in keeping. Hackett demoted and stripped of play calling duties, but no Rodgers acquiescence.

Of course, your powers of prescience aren't debatable at this point and you deserve and the laurels and flowers we can lay at your feet, Your Highness.
