PFT is reporting that Washington and the free-agent LB to be have an agreement in place...of course, once, you know, teams are allowed to talk to players.

Thoughts on London moving to DC?

this has been rumored for a week or two now.

Gregg Williams and Jerry Gray are in Washington, so they are very familiar with London. Moving him there would allow Lemar Marshall to shift to WLB, where I think he's better suited.

I will hate to see the Bills lose him but he is 32 years old so it might not be the worst decision. Hopefully, Angelo Crowell or someone else can fill in for him at MLB.

About as good a fit as can be expected for Fletcher outside of a defined Tampa-2 system.

The Redskins have used a lot of Cover-2 in recent seasons behind various front seven packages and Gregg Williams was on record last year as saying he was incorporating some Tampa-2 coverages into his playbook last year. Marshall, before laying an egg in the coverage stat columns this season, had four interceptions and nine passes defended last season without anything near the cover skills Fletcher has. Fletcher would also benefit from the question marks at LB in Washington with Marcus Washington coming off of an apparently significant hip surgery, Marshall an inconsistent tackler and a big unknown in Rocky McIntosh. Even if the Skins settle the SS situation, I'd think Fletcher would be a lock to greatly improve on Marshall's 75-80 solo tackle seasons.

While Keith Ellison is a consideration, I'm also thinking that Crowell would probably be Fletcher's replacement at MLB.

:potkettle: at the thought of Ellison at MLB. I think the run defense would be pretty bad with him in there. I think Crowell is clearly the guy provided they don't bring anybody new in.as for cover-2, from what I recall, last year was pretty much the only year Fletcher played in that type of system in his career. Fletcher's 4 INTs and 14 PDs this year were probably due in large part to the Cover-2 being added (only had 1 INT and 14 PD over the previous 4 years combined), but he was still a tackle machine every year under Jerry Gray (averaged 98.5 solos and 47.5 assists). I think he'd probably remain a top-5 fantasy LB in Washington.

Latest on Smoot and Fletcher

Heard he is traveling to this area and should be here in time for the game. Again, I think it's failrly close to certain the Skins will get Fletcher and Smoot. Fletcher returned from his physical a little while ago and was whisked to the back of the building.
and, previously:
Fletcher is here and just left the building with a member of the training staff. Almost certain he is getting his physical done and I imagine a deal will be done within the next few hours. Smoot is almost certain to be here as well. I don't see him leaving without a contract.

It's official. London signed with DC.5 years, 25 mil...10.5 mil signing bonus according to PFT
yeah, I think that would have been too much for the Bills to give a 32yo LB.hope things work out for London in DC. He's easily been one of my favorite Bills of all time.
