Help me out Cowboy fans...was it "Derrick Lovett", Tony Dorsett's heir apparent at one time?
Dorsett's last workhorse season was 1985. Herschel Walker came along in 1986 and they split carries for three years.

I looked but I did not find anything. I found Loville, but he was late 80s maybe early 90s. I don't know who I was thinking of.What about...Broncos, wide receiver Steve Watson

Chicago - Tom Waddle
:rotflmao: NICE!
Not so "long lost" here in Chicago. He does the Bears' pregame half-hour before the national Fox pregame broadcast. He's actually pretty entertaining.
Do he get knocked unconquience half-way through it. He should be a spokeperson for smelling salts. Not a Bears fan at all. But he is one of my all-time favorite players. As for my favorite team the NYG:Joe MorrisOtis AndersonRodney HamptonCharles Way

I met Oliver Luck and Gifford Nielson as kid in Houston along with EARL.. Whoever threw out Bucky Richardson - that's a nice one, too.

PIT: Louis Lipps
A couple months ago, I was watching an NFL yearbook episode on the Steelers for 1984 (or whatever LL's rookie season was...pretty sure that was it) -- They talked quite a bit about him. My wife, who really doesn't give a rats ### about football and other than a handful of current Steelers and Classic 70s Steelers doesn't know any of the names, hadn't heard this before, and she couldn't get over that this was his real name. For a week she walked around the house saying"Hi, I'm Louis Lipps" (using the "Velvet Jones" voice).

TEN/HOU: Dan Pastorini
Anyone remember that Fantasy Island episode Pastorini was in? Him and former Seahawks kicker Efren Herrera played two football players who get hooked up with two cheerleader wanna-be's. Pastorini matched up with Patty McCormack (now Liz La Cerva on the Sopranos but hot in her younger days), but Herrera got stuck with Georgia Engel from the Mary Tyler Moore show.

Ding, ding! Dan Pastorini on IMDB.comWasn't Pastorini also a drag racer after football?

Eric Hipple QB Detroit Lions 1980-1999Chuck Long QB Detroit Lions 1986-1989Andre Ware QB Detroit Lions 1990-1993Rodney Peete QB Detroit Lions 1989-1993In case anyone didn't know the meaning behind the poster named "Hipple, Long, Ware and Peete", it's not his law firm. They were all QBs of the Lions in 1989-1990. He had a Gagliano in his name for a while on the old board, but changed it.

Phil McConkey was "Johnny On The Spot" with a TD catch in the SB against Denver.Edit: Not sure why I remember his name so well when his career was pretty much nothing.

Has anybody mentioned Deiter Brock (QB of the Rams)?
Looks like you just did ;) Nice call, though. I was living in LA at the time, and they plucked him from the CFL. The team and beat writers alike thought he was going to be a godsend, but no dice.

Maybe we should put this to a poll - determine the best no-name name from names past.

I think we should choose 15 people to choose 1 name only to be placed in the poll, that will ultimately decide the best no-name from names past.

No-Name, Name from Names Past - Here's the rules

The next 15 people who reply with "I'm in" will be the ones who will choose one name and designate that as "their name" to be put in the poll. Again, for right now, I just want the 15 people. DO NOT NAME ANY NAMES YET. If you want to be one of the 15 people who chooses one name, simply reply with "I'm In". I will then list the people who will be part of the poll process and we'll list our one name one after the other (like draft format).

I will be the 1st to choose... "I'm in" Now I need 14 more.
