Draft in 3 hours....Feels like Christmes.

D.D. loaded and ready, first time using it for a draft. All things ready, just my Vodka to pack,,,,I can see bedtime may come early.

Mike. i have follower your articles on Kickers for a while now. Who do you see as the best Long range kicker with opportunities and ability.

Our league gets Big points for 50+ field goals.

Tks in Advance

Little late to be asking the K guru for a hand, innit? I like Mare and Scobee this season, FWIW.

Never TOO late. What better time than last minute in case of Injuries to OFF. Line or Replacement.I have the same two as you targeted........also Kasey....Thanks for Your input.

Herman just recently updated his K thread, so maybe he will make an appearance here; Kasay is solid for distance kicks.

Who's got big legs?

Rackers

Kasay (always seems to get lots of long opportunities)

Crosby

Scobee

Mare (although more so on kickoffs)

Nugent (possibly improved range)

Janikowski (although accuracy is an issue)

Akers (also seems to get lots of long opportunities)

J. Brown (improved range)

Kaeding (improved range)

Wilkins (not too shabby for an old guy)

Bironas

Hanson has nailed some 50+ during preseason and regularly hits them in practice. He has not lost anything at his advanced age, and he is very accurate from 50+. Plus, he kicks in a dome. Don't sleep on him.

Avoid Akers, grasshopper.

Right now he's got a new holder, an ex-Aussie footballer with essentially zero NFL experience doing the job. That's a bad thing.

:thumbup:Akers hit 2 frm 50+ with Rocca holding in the preseason. All that said, Elam is the best bet. Then Stover. Then Akers.I still think Longwell is a good bet (MIN will struggle in the RZ and he's a domer).Nugent is good but 8 games in Giants stadium concerns me.

Watch for the final roster cuts for the Ravens. If they keep Rhys Lloyd as a kickoff specialist, he'll probably also handle 50+ yard field goals. He made a 55 yarder in this week's game.

No Elam? His leg isn't quite what it once was, but he still kicks a mile above sea level, right? He's second in NFL history in 50+ yarders, first in accuracy from 50+ yards (a remarkable 61% conversion rate), holds the record for the longest kick ever, and has a coach with a ton of faith in his leg. Most consistant kicker possibly in NFL history regardless of scoring format. He's #1 on my board every year simply because he's the only guy you know for sure what you're getting from.

That Elam kid sounds pretty good. Consider him added to the list.

Lindell actually has a strong leg for the Bills too. 45-50 yarders may be his only chance this season the way the Bills have moved the ball...

Thanks for the input guys.., I went to the draft this A.M.

Ending up picking, J. Scobee & N. Folk................I'm happy.

After seeing the first half of Jets/Eagles, I take this back - I'm concerned about Rocca. He isn't looking like a good holder at all. Even when he places it, he doesn't spin the laces out. This could be a problem....

Yup. He'll get that corrected at some point, but I expect there to be a couple issues this season, and the situation will probably make ried slightly more gun-shy to attempt long kicks, and yield good field position if they fail.We ex-kickers notice these little things.... ;)
