Looking at 2006 FF Drafts (2/07) (1 Viewer)

Just to take the conversation away from the Super Bowl a bit, here are my projections as of today for the first three rounds of a redraft in terms of player value. ALL projections are based on current players staying where they are currently and does not include rookies, so it's a work in progress at best.

Basic performance rules. 6 pts per TD, 4 pts. per TD pass, 1 point per 10/20 yards, yardage bonuses for big yardage games. Again, this is redraft.

Round One:

1. Shaun Alexander, RB, Sea.

2. Larry Johnson, RB, KC

3. LaDainian Tomlinson, RB, SD

4. Edgerrin James, RB, Indy

5. Tiki Barber, RB, NYG

6. Clinton Portis, RB, Wash.

7. Lamont Jordan, RB, Oak.

8. Rudi Johnson, RB, Cincy

9. Steve Smith, WR, Car.

10. Domanick Davis, RB, Hou.

11. Steven Jackson, RB, Stl.

12. Torry Holt, WR, Stl.

Round Two:

13. Willis McGahee, RB, Buf.

14. Peyton Manning, QB, Indy

15. Chad Johnson, WR, Cincy

16. Carnell Williams, RB, TB

17. Julius Jones, RB, Dal.

18. Terrell Owens, WR, FA

19. Deuce McAllister, RB, NO

20. Antonio Gates, TE, SD

21. Brian Westbrook, RB, Phil.

22. Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Ari.

23. Randy Moss, WR, Oak.

24. Warrick Dunn, RB, Atl.

Round Three:

25. Carson Palmer, QB, Cincy

26. Jamal Lewis, RB, Bal.

27. Reuben Droughns, RB, Cle.

28. Donovan McNabb, QB, Phil.

29. Corey Dillon, RB, NE

30. Marvin Harrison, WR, Indy

31. Thomas Jones, RB, Chi.

32. Tom Brady, QB, NE

33. Tatum Bell, RB, Den.

34. Ronnie Brown, RB. Mia.

35. DeShaun Foster, RB, Car.

36. Hines Ward, WR, Pit.

Again, this is extremely preliminary, and if all goes as expected in the next couple of months, Domanick Davis would be an example of a player who would fall tremendously.

I just thought it might make for some good FF discussion......

Tiki is definitely worth top 5 consideration but I bet he still falls to the end of the first or maybe even early second in most drafts. The offseason will be just enough time for owners to out-think themselves and undervalue Tiki (again). Deuce seems a bit high coming off such a big injury and I always think he is overhyped every year.

31. Thomas Jones, RB, Chi.33. Tatum Bell, RB, Den.34. Ronnie Brown, RB. Mia.35. DeShaun Foster, RB, Car.
These are very interesting selections. I know your rankings are based on current situations but could see these players jumping to the 2nd or possibly falling past the 5th depending upon what their teams do in the offseason.

Agreed. This is extremely preliminary, like I said. Ronnie Brown becomes a second rounder instantly if Ricky goes elsewhere...as does Bell if a path clears for him to be the primary starter. Foster, even if given the starter's job, would remain a third rounder, IMO, due to his injury history. As for Thomas Jones, I am assuming he and Benson form some kind of committee for now, but if he leaves Chicago for some reason, he would obviously move out of this spot up or down depending on where he lands and then Benson would be a fairly high FF selection as a by-product of that.

Deuce has finished 6, 7, 17 in the prior years and was 17th in PPG this past year. Those stats warrant a top 2 tound pick for sure.

Those were stats with a clean bill of health though. He will likely struggle a bit coming off the injury. Most other RBs have in the 1st year back.

I would be tempted to take rudi over portis and lamont ... He finished so amazingly strong, and that's a very solid team he's starting for. They will score a lot of points.

Should we really be worried that Chris Perry will steal too much of his production?

Am I understanding correctly that Marvin Harrison is not listed in the first three rounds?
That and Domanick Davis really stood out to me. Even if they don't draft Bush, Davis had a hard time staying healthy this year...

Why D. Davis 11th overall? I take it that is wo Bush around.
Yes, this one is a bit confusing. I think as of now we all have to assume that Bush will be a Texan. If he is, there is no way you can take DD that high.

I notice you have Fitz a full round+ ahead of Boldin. They were pretty much even this season, if I'm not mistaken. You think Fitz will outperform Boldin by that much? Injury concerns for Boldin perhaps?

Sorry, guys....leaving Harrison off was an oversight. I will make the adjustment.

With no Reggie Bush, yes....I think Domanick Davis remains an offensive centerpiece. If the Texans draft Bush and keep Davis, then Davis drops of the radar screen. It is likely they will draft Bush, and thus, it is also likely that Davis's days ranked this high are numbered. But, these projections are only based on what is present as of today.

As for Fitzgerald/Boldin, I think Fitz will be the primary red zone guy....with yardage slightly in Boldin's favor. I have their projections fairly close, but again, I see Fitz as a double-digit TD guy with Boldin only projected initially as scoring 6-7 TDs.

I keep seeing Carson Palmer up in the top of these drafts. No way does that guy come in and contribute for 16 games after the injury he suffered. He is an 8-10 game type of guy on my board.

That's a good point....both he and Culpepper are real question marks right now, but if he can come back by the start of the season, he's got a lot of weapons to work with. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt...for now.

Jordan w/o Turner is a bit high I think.
But if Whisenhunt is hired, it all evens out. I think Whisenhunt will also focus on the run even though he has a nice stable of WRs there.

Not only that, but for a guy that has always loved to run the ball, Turner didn't stick with the run game very much last year.

Holt is way too high for my liking.
What's not to like? The guy is top five year after year. A very safe pick at that spot, IMO. Much safer than guys like Moss or Owens despite their talent.....

Despite the emergence of Steve Smith, I'd take Holt as the first WR off the board any day and twice on Sunday. The guy is consistency defined year after year.
