Looting in Missouri after cops shoot 18 year old (3 Viewers)

I'm at a loss here. We are talking about CRIMINALS choosing to engage cops in phsyical altercations, whether it be with fists (Brown) or the drug dealers from the 2001 story that was posted.

There are plenty of valid race issues in this country. Why people choose to go to battle over whether criminals who put public servants' lives in danger with their bad choices and end up getting shot is beyond me. If you don't want to get shot, stop putting yourself in a position where getting shot is a fairly likely outcome.
Well, some people dont always believe the police when they claim they were threatened after they kill someone.
Which totally you know, justifies burning down your own community.
shoo...

The grownups are talking.
I'm also closer in age to the victim and the people who are actually causing the looting. There's nothing to debate. A race wants to commit crime in high numbers and then play some race card to justify their actions.
A whole race? Is there some kind of race meeting where they hash out offical policy? How does that work precisely? A race. Where does the whitey meeting get held at cuz I haven't been getting newsletters or emails or anything.

Bucky, I'm quite certain nobody here likes you. I never see anybody even respond back to anything you say.I am probably much more well spoken and likable than you in real life.
I like Bucky.
Tell your homie to keep his mouth shut and to treat me with respect.
Respect is something you earn.

I keep hearing that any time a prosecutor wants an indictment he gets one. Is it possible that the prosecutor didn't actually feel one was warranted and didn't actually want one?. Sure sounds like there was zero evidence that Wilson did anything wrong. I would like to think that prosecutors have a shred of decency and don't just go after anybody involved in a shooting. Maybe there was a grand jury simply to be able to say that there was an objective look at this thing.
If a prosecutor who brings a charge in front of a grand jury makes it sound like there's zero evidence that a potential defendant did anything wrong, there's a massive problem.
And McCulloch has a history of improperly helping accused cops in front of grand juries after they kill unarmed black men....
You can't make this #### up.
:lmao: I love the part where they strong armed the witnesses into stating that Wilson's story was the one they recall. It was the clincher.

You lynch mobbers lost and got your asses handed to you and all you can do is grasp at straws.

I'm probably not done changing my opinion. It seems to be that last night we learned about 5 times as many facts about this incident as all the ones we had collected all together thus far. That really should make ALL opinions in this thread prior to last night invalid. And for all that, we still don't know what happened. The witnesses conflict with each other. Apparently none of them witnessed the entire incident from beginning to end, and none of them were close enough to witness all (or any) of the dialogue between Wilson and Brown. The only person who knows what really happened was Officer Wilson.

I mentioned this last night but it may have gotten lost in this very long thread: back during the Rodney King riots, I heard rumors of landlords I knew who paid cash to some guys already looting to burn down their shopping centers in north Long Beach- if you know the city at all, this happened on Atlantic Avenue, near Artesia, which was in the thick of the riots. Never been able to confirm this story but at least one of those landlords made out like a bandit. His crumbling, crappy old building burned to the ground, and he replaced it with a brand new shopping center, all paid for by insurance. That new center, 22 years later, still looks good and is filled with tenants.
This allegedly went on during Katrina.

Hey Eminence stop whining like a little #####. If you can't handle criticism, then you shouldn't post in this forum. This is an open discussion, and if you say foolish things, you will be subject to ridicule.

As an adult, I refuse to call my friends "homies" in real life. If that makes me not well spoken then you're absolutely correct.

Open discussion, there's never an excuse for personal attacks the same way there's never an excuse to burn down your community.Bucky has no right to come in and talk crap to me. Especially if he's allegedly got me on block.

We don't do that here.

That link is a great read. If that is what you guys are hanging your hats on now, you got nothing. ZERO. Zilch.

In the car were Earl Murray, a small-time drug dealer, and his friend Ronald Beasley. Waiting for them were a dozen detectives. By the time Murray realized it was a sting, he was surrounded. Panicked, he put his car into reverse but slammed into a police SUV behind him. Two officers approaching the car from the front opened fire. Twenty-one shots rained down on Murray and Beasley.

Not seeing a problem. Should have given up. They gave these criminals an out. They elected bullets.

In all seriousness, you guys need to wake the #### up.

As an adult, you will take personal attacks towards and provoke other people on the Internet.

Got it. ;)

He was presenting the evidence bc the people wanted it. He was doing all he could to calm the crowd, kinda the point of his 30 minute monologue. Obviously there was nothing he could say that would've been effective.... If he didn't you amongst others would be in here bashing him for that and saying this whole process has been cloaked.
Stop pretending you know what I think or what I would say in response to this or that. TIA.
What would you have said if he just came up and said "no indictment, have a nice day"???

We have already established that a 300 pounder doesn't have a physical advantage over a 200 pounder in this post here, enlighten me...
I would have probably criticized that too. His mistake was "pursuing" an indictment he had zero interest in obtaining in the first place. He should not have charged Wilson IMO. If I was in his place I would not have charged him, and I would have tried to negotiate various other initiatives to avoid similar situations in the future- dashboard cameras, advising the state legislature to revisit the lax standards for use of deadly force by police officers, etc.- and then announced that at the same time as my announcement of the decision.

Instead he used the grand jury process as political cover, turning what's usually a rubber stamp process (stats explanation on reddit I liked) into what was basically a trial, so people would be mad at "the system" instead of at him for not trying Wilson. It was an understandable move I guess, but kind of chicken####.
Can you imagine the uproar which would have followed the Prosecutor saying we will not charge Wilson? He was being lambasted as a friend of the cops. If he made a unilateral decision the anger would have been 10 fold. He had to go Grand Jury.

Personal attacks suck. But if I whined about every personal attack made against me, it would add another 20,000 to my post count.

I think Eminence is just pissed because he was in line to become the assistant night manager at the Walgreens that was burned down last night.

Any federal action is unlikely. But a civil suit makes sense for the Brown family. There would be a trial. Wilson would have to testify and be cross examined. If he wrongfully killed Michael Brown they can ruin him financially, and the Ferguson police department could be exposed as well.
He was acting as a police officer. I don't see how they could ruin him financially. Any reward would come from the city.
He was not acting as a police officer when he pulled out his weapon, took aim, and unloaded his clip into the decedent. He was a cold-blooded killer, who was tired of taking crap from black youths. It was time to lay down the law.
Key in dark, dramatic music..

if an armed mob is encroaching upon me, I'm guessing I have a right to defend myself.
This conversation is ridiculous. No business is worth a person's life, regardless of whether that life belongs to the owner or to the rioter.
He's talking about defending himself.
No, he wasn't. I deleted a number of nested quotes. This was in the context of putting himself in harms way to defend his business.
Yes. With the person inside the business. Are you of the opinion that a business owner should be banned from defending his business in a time of civil unrest and that should he choose to occupy his business that he should be banned from defending himself from being attacked?
Some people appear to be very cavalier regarding taking another human beings life when it is an avoidable situation. Whether it is bloviating due to internet anonymity or true callousness is the question. I hope it is the former.

Well the evidence suggests you are failing. Like a fat chick hitting the Dunkin Donuts after leaving a Weight Watchers meeting. But you keep being the best you that you can be and I'm sure you will tackle this challenge.

Anybody ever hear what the racial makeup of the grand jury is?
One black man, two black women, six white men, and three white women.
Does it have to be unanimous?
Need 9 to indict.
Thanks,,,Wow broken down this could come off a little suspicious if you already feel wronged.
You would think they would've selected at least a 50/50 grand jury.
I believe the Prosecutor indicated that the grand jury was chosen before the altercation b/w Brown and Wilson. Its not like a regular trial where the jury is picked and the lawyer have exclusions.

I think it would have been about the same, and there were measures that could be taken to alleviate it. Of course there were also measures he could have taken to alleviate it last night, too. Instead he chose to go on a lengthy rant where he alternated between sounding like an 80 year old man complaining about the internet and an angry message board conservative defending Darren Wilson at every turn. Neither is a good look for someone who is supposed to represent the public in a legal matter against someone charged with a crime.

Report: Body Found Shot to Death, Set Fire Near Apartment Complex Where Michael Brown Died

FERGUSON, Mo. (CBS St. Louis/AP) The body of a black male was reportedly found near Canfield Green Apartments in Ferguson, the same complex where Michael Brown was fatally shot by officer Darren Wilson during an altercation Aug. 9.

KTVI-TV reports that the man, in his 20s, was shot to death and set on fire. KMOX has sent a reporter to the scene.

The St. Louis County Police Department released the following statement:

The St. Louis County Police Department is on the 9400 block of Glenn Owen in Ferguson, MO, near the intersection of Windwood and Glenn Owen.

At approximately 9 a.m. today, a citizen reported that an unresponsive man was inside a parked vehicle at that location. Responding officers discovered a deceased male inside the vehicle.

No information on the identity of the man or additional information about the man, ownership of the car or circumstances leading up to the discovery.

Detectives from the St. Louis County Crimes Against Persons are enroute to conduct the investigation.

This incident is currently being classified as a suspicious death and will remain so until evidence allows a different classification. No further information at this time.

The discovery of the body comes after a night of violent protests where gunshots rang out and dozens of buildings were set on fire and looted in the Ferguson area. More than 80 people were arrested in Ferguson and St. Louis after a grand jury decided not to indict Wilson in Browns death.

Hospitals report having treated at least 14 people who were injured during the unrest.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis says it admitted two injured people and treated and released five others. It didnt disclose the nature of the injuries.

Christian Hospital, near Ferguson, says it treated six people for minor injuries, and Saint Louis University Hospital says it treated one person.

Many Ferguson-area districts cancelled classes out of concern about the safety of getting children to and from school.
New Law and Order series?

I was really pissed off at the looters last night (still am) and used words like scum and animals to describe them. What really bothered me was not just the fact that they were ruining things for the vast majority of peaceful protestors, but that this was not spontaneous: these ####ers knew what was going to happen and were eager to take advantage of it. That's why so many wore masks.

But some of the rhetoric here is way over the top. We need to keep a little perspective. It would be more accurate to say that the looters were normal people who chose to act like thugs, scum, animals, etc. If caught they should be prosecuted for their crimes. But they don't deserve to die.
Normal people don't behave that way.

This grand jury was seated in May. Long before the incident occured.
