Louie - new FX comedy (1 Viewer)

CK is hilarious...hopefully it lasts longer than Lucky Louie but I think vulgarity really helps his comedy. Not sure how much hell get away with on FX, promos look kind of meh too.

They curse a ton on Its Always Sunny
Do they really curse that much?! Im sure they say ### quite often, but clearly there are no F's and Im not sure about S's. If they had an episode called "Who pooped the bed", Im leaning towards no on that one. I think Its Always Sunny is hilarious, but I dont think the actual language is all that bad.

They use that one all the time.

According to Louis, there are three words that he can't say on FX:

1) four letters, begins with f.

2) four letters, begins with c.

3) six letters, begins with r, also banned here.

Also, this looks amazingly funny. Really looking forward to this and the second season of Eastbound.

Palin's really building up some clout over thereLooking forward to this as well. Hopefully a little more focused than Lucky Louis was. Growing my mullet back out for Eastbound.

Im a fan. I always like when he is on O&A show. I hope the series works out for him. His religious humor usually pisses me off but I am still a fan.

this looks *really* funny to me. when i see the clip that has gervais as his doctor, i totally crack up.

"you don't need a doctor, louie; you need a time machine..."

rapist?

Catch it quick. Sure to be canceled.
Why?
Only cause he seems to have terrible luck with most anything he touches. For some reason the public likes him a lot but he can't keep a steady gig.
I think some people are simply refusing to admit his first show just wasn't very good. I love his standup. But it just didn't translate in his previous attempt with HBO. Maybe it works this time. I hope so because there aren't enough good television shows.

based on the interview, i don't think f/x is putting any real pressure on him. he can find his audience. they want him to succeed but it's very much on his terms.
I think FX knows quality when they see it. If the show is good, they will give it every opportunity to succeed. The only show they gave up on quickly was Lucky, which was a damn shame, but I think they learned a lesson.

great, insightful interview at the avclub with louie today. highly recommend it.
I really love the AV Club, most likely because their collective tastes seem to align pretty closely to my own.
The A.V. Club: The last two times I talked to you, we did post-mortems for Pootie Tang and then Lucky Louie. But now it seems like everything is going well for you.Louis C.K.: This is pre-mortem.
:excited:

Louis is the best.

I hate people without kids. Because when you ask a parent how they're doing, they never tell you the truth. They just say, "Great!" They never say, "Well, my wife has stolen my sexual identity and my kids are eating my dreams." You ask someone without kids how they're doing and they say something like, "Well, my bedroom doesn't get enough afternoon light."
I was watching a Girls Gone Wild commercial the other day. They'd never produce a Women Gone Wild DVD. When girls go wild they get drunk and pull up their tops. When women go wild they cut off their husband's #### and set his bed on fire.
So I'm watching a boxing match the other day with two featherweight boxers. Each guy weighs like 130 pounds. That means I weigh as much as these guys put together. And my doctor who's worried about my weight said, "Dude, you gotta be less people." My doc asked me how often I go #2, and I said, "I don't know, man. I eat, I ####, I eat, I ####. I don't know how often I do it. Every time I take a #### it's an emergency. Does that help?"

Testees got the hook pretty quick, and deservedly so.
Sorry, I meant the only good show they gave up on quickly...They also whacked that show about the dooshbag with the eating disorder.

Starved and actually not a bad show. Great colonic scene that I'll never forget

every project that the creator of that show - eric shaeffer - does is pretty much guaranteed to be a vanity project of some sort. he may be talented but he's pretty insufferable.

I thought it was awful. And saintfool is dead on about Shaeffer.

 Yeah, those shows were bad. I'm totally confident that Louie will be a lot better.

Wasn't there some other show on FX called Factory or something about a bunch of guys who oddly enought worked in a factory together. It had a couple of moments but otherwise was a waste of time and ad space.Edit to Add: I think Louis CK is genius comedy - Chewed Up is one of my favorite standup shows of all time. Regular guy comedy. Love when he talks about his kids. Man are they going to be damaged when they hear his routines someday. GB "I don't give a F##K what your favorite color is!!!!"

Doesn't ring a bell.

100% on board with that

I am a big Louis fan, but I agree. The show had its funny moments. But overall, I was disappointed.

Ahhh...that is because it was Spike's first foray into sitcom land and was not on FX. My fault.

Safe bet that I'll never see these words strung together in this order again.

at least not about something you'd find on basic cable. unless of course it's singer-songwriter kenny loggins talking about how he met his wife...

Looking forward to this. Louis was on O&A last week promoting. Sounded interesting how it was being put together. Sounds like they just gave him cash and said make a show. He said no one knew he had Ricky Gervais doing it until they saw the screening. I hope it does well.

I didn't think Lucky Louie was too bad, but it was definitely disappointing to fans of his standup. I think he's much better when he can go on stage and say whatever he wants. Unfortunately there's not as much money in that, so he has to try to do TV shows. Hopefully this one will be better.
