LT & Turner vs. San Fran (1 Viewer)

San Fran is terrible overall on D, and in the bottom 3rd against the run. You'd expect SD to whack them pretty good, and Turner to get a pretty decent amount of carries as they, at minimum, go Martyball to protect the lead. So 2 questions:

1) Are both guys worth a start? Even if you have both? You'd expect them to combine for 150 and a couple TD's, right?

2) If you're going against LT, do you like the idea of starting Turner if the LT owner didn't handcuff him?

This isn't meant to sound too Assistant Coach-y, and I apologize if it does. I just think this is a pretty interesting situation this week with the way the carries are being divided in SD, the matchup, and the fact that some people are going to be pretty desperate because of the byes.

The last time someone suggested this here, the original poster was destroyed in the thread. A couple days later, both Turner and LT2 were lights out.

I think it's a decent suggestion in the right matchups.

i probably will, rather than making a trade or picking up an alstott type and praying he falls over the goal-line.

If you believe that the Chargers will manhandle the Niners, as most people probably do, both could indeed be good plays next week.

Turner could get some serious 2nd half stats if the Chargers bolt out to an early lead.

I just realized that I actually AM going against the LT owner and guess what, he didn't handcuff him. I have Turner. :DAlexander is likely out for the game.Tatum Bell has Oakland, so that's a no-brainer. STARTERThomas Jones @ Arizona is the only other real consideration. While it would be fun to start Turner against him, not sure I can sit Bell or TJones this week to do so.

i saw this a couple weeks ago as i was pondering what to do with c. taylor off, i think it's a good matchup. so i will probably go with both.

Due to bye week issues, I'm definitely going this route in the one league I own both. Even if the byes didn't hit me that hard, I still see the merit to it, especially if you are using Turner at a flex position over a WR3 or WR4, instead of at RB2 or RB3.

Unless you have another RB on your roster who can get you 100 and a TD, it is not a BAD call. But, if you have a Deuce McAllister, Tatum Bell, Laurence Maroney, etc. type of guy - someone who has been producing and can, on their own, get you RB

I have Dunn as my second RB. I'm starting Tomlinson and Turner. Dunn's production has dropped off the face of the earth.

Super! Another Turner/Tomlinson thread!
I know...sorry. I almost put it in the rbbc thread, but a) didn't want to hijack since it's more of a specific question, and b) that one had already degenerated into people just taking shots at each other.

With them facing SF, starting both was my original plan for dealing with the Mega-byes this week. Now I have Maurice Morris vs. STL at my disposal as well, so I'm

You think Turner getting 16 carries and 50 yards is more likely than Dunn averaging his "off the face oif the earth" production the last two games?Oh yeah, he had 130+ the first two games.I, personally, think replacing Dunn with Turner is :loco:

I've got Fred Taylor and Chester Taylor off and am considering starting LT and Turner.

It's either that or go with LT and 4 WRs, which is a possibility since I've got a pretty healthy group of WRs.

Smith

Housh

Evans

Jennings

Bryant

Bruce

Not sure what I'll do at this point, but it's definitely something I'm strongly considering.

If you've got a top rb going against a tough D (Gore vs. SD) it might not be a terrible idea to sit him.
This is exactly my situation. I am thinking about starting Turner and LTSitting Gore :o :o
Same exact situation here actually. I like Gore, but the SD D is something like the Niners haven't seen this year. While I don't know that the Niners will get buried 40-0 this week, I do expect the chargers to run all over the niners D all game

This is a classic hedge / risk management scenario. Pretty earlier in the year, but if your team is superior to his, you should bench Turner...if you team is inferior, you should start Turner.

since half my team is on a bye this week, I literally have no choice but to start Turner at my flex spot with LT and Deuce. (Droughs, Jones-Drew, and Rhodes all on byes!) I'm actually feeling okay about it. Everyone will be hurting this week with byes, so it ought to be interesting.

Dunn has 99 yards in his last two games. Vick snipes all the TDs. Odds are Turner will get 75 yards and a TD against SF in a backup role.

Hey, I like the hedge angle, but I thought that only worked QB vs. his receiver or my receiver / his QB. Anyway...I've got T. Bell vs. OAK and T. Jones @ ARI ... he's likely trotting out LT and ... Leon Washington? (he has Chester on bye)I'm choosing between Bulger & Grossman (leaning Bulger) .... he's got Harrington or A. Smith (Peyton on bye)I should be able to take him out this week. :boxing:

I'm considering dropping Marion Barber, picking up Turner, and starting him against the LT owner.

Barber, though, could put up some nice numbers this week, as well.

And, before I get the, "Turner is available in your league? Can I play in your league?," I'd like to add that this is a 10 team league with small roster sizes.

So you're saying that there are no spots available in your league? :kicksrock:

I am in a similar position. C. Taylor is off and I will need to start 3WR's (TO and either Chambers, Cotchery, or Muhammad) along with Tatum Bell since my other RB's are not startable (Norwood, DeAngelo, and Mike Bell). It is a big risk to start Turner since if SF does not get blown out then Turner may only end up with around 30 yards. While I am afraid of a "let down" by SD, I also remember Turner's performance during the Tenn game from earlier in the season. Right now, I am hesitant to put him in, but that may change. I just know that whatever option I pick will be the wrong one :wall:

Would you consider starting Turner against the 49ers instead of Edge against the Bears?(Starting Portis and need to start another RB with byes everywhere)

considering starting both LT2/turner here as well. cotchery or chambers would have to be benched to start turner.

This week I have Maroney and Fred Taylor on byes. That leaves me with LaMont Jordan (@DEN), Marion Barber (HOU), and Michael Turner (@SF) . I am going to start Turner and Barber. . . :bag:

:wall: I have to pay more attention to schedules. Really could have used Turner last week as my #2 while McGahee played the Bears. Now he plays Detroit and is an automatic start.

I like this pairing depending on who your RB2 is. I also like pairing J.Jones & Barber against the mighty Texans.
