Lucas Oil Stadium looks incredible (1 Viewer)

Looks like this is going to be the jewel of the NFL for at least this 1 year. That entire wall of glass looks great. I wish the Cards had incorporated something like that in their dome.

Someone posted some inside pics earlier this year, but I couldn't find them in a search. If anyone could post more recent inside pics, it would be appreciated.

I was over by the new Cowboys stadium last night and it looks incredible as well. Insane thing is that they were designed by the same person. In addition to those two projects the same guy is working on an Olympic stadium in China and a soccer stadium in the U.K. that are also huge. I can't imagine being involved in 4 projects like that at one time and being a creative force in each of them.

The first games at Lucas Oil Stadium is scheduled to be a High School football triple-header on August 23rd. A cheaper way to go see the stadium than trying to get Colts tickets. The Colts first game at that stadium is the next night on the 24th (will be live on NFL network). There is supposed to be an open house for season ticket holders before the first exhibition game on the 24th, but I'm not expecting that to happen.

L.O.S = Lucas Oil Stadium.....meh.

Haven't heard much talk about a nickname for the place as yet. Anyone feeling creative?

Since it is in the desert this is not very practical and in the end the only thing that matters is how good are the worst seats.

Since Lucas Oil Stadium is in the desert? I never sit in the worst seats any more so I don't care how good they are.

Back up slick and explain your first post.To clarify mine.

1. Lucas Oil Stadium is not in the desert. It's in Indy. I did bring up the Cards stadium. If that's what you were referring to also, cool. but I'm curious how windows aren't practical in the desert.

2. My second sentence is merely stating I don't give a crap about the bad seats.

HTH

Personally the outside design of the stadium doesn't do a whole lot for me, but the inside looks fantastic.
I think it has a "mega-church" look on the outside. The inside is sweeeet!
personally I don’t like it... Arizona's stadium is much more aesthetically pleasing  . IMHO this new stadium looks like some of the old run down factories i have seen in slum neighborhoods  (at least from the outside, inside is pretty schweet). Now if only my Niners could decide from one of their three locals when and in what city to build their stadium, i will be excited... :P BAM

1. I can tell you don't live in the desert. Glass = Heat. 2. Enjoy your seats.

dome = no fun to watch football

:goodposting:

yawn

since indy already had a dome maybe now that will actually play a few games with an open roof. i do agree though that any bad weather and they'll close the roof. pansies.

I guess you've been to Indianapolis.
 Never had the joy actually :pics: i have seen many a slum in my day however, and a slum is a slum no matter what city it is in... same holds true for rundown factories and wherehouses... seen one seen'em all; this looks like one (or will soon at least... imho)BAM

Might want to get out more often. :lmao: Indy is a terrific city. Deal with it.

I hate to say it, but I have to agree with the negative takes on the exterior design. It's pathetic, imo. The half dome window treatment at the base doesn't work with the rest of the squared off building. It's homely. At a glance it gives the impression of a barn, factory or train station. There's so much that can be done with high tech facades. This is not up to current standards. It's pretty forgettable compared to many other newer projects.

The Cowboys got it right with their New Stadium. Hell, it even looks like a damn football. I mean, that's what a football stadium should look like..Not sure what Indy was going after with the facade design on LucO because it seems like it stick out like a sore thumb, but I do agree that INDY is a very nice town.

Sorry for the misunderstanding...I am by no means saying that Indy is not a cool city. i am also not saying that Indy has slums, not am i saying the stadium looks like the slums in Indy.I am just saying that it looks like a generic warehouseIndy could be a super city and I would have no idea, because I have never been there...Perhaps when they open the combine to the public I will have a reason to head that direction ;)I just don’t like the stadium... nothing to do with what city it is in.BAM

yes there are some very ugly areas in SF.i cannot deny it. actually the area the stadium is in is among the worst areas in the entire bay area. this is one resaon why we may lose the niners to Santa Clara.BUT there are very beautiful areas in the city (SF) as well, much like any city, you take the good with the bad.BAM

I don't really care for the look, I feel the same way about the Cardinal's stadium. I guess it's a matter of taste and how it fits into the surrounding area. In the end the only thing that matters is "how good are all of the seats".

My guess is that the designer tried to stay close to the exterior design of Conseco Fieldhouse. The Fieldhouse is rated as one of the top NBA venues.

Conseco Fieldhouse

Honestly, I could care less what the exterior looks like. I want it to rock on the interior. And, it appears to do just that!

Now you should understand the point I was making. Indy is a very beautiful city for the most part. I doubt this stadium's look from the outside takes anything away from that. The warehouse or old look to outside of stadiums are popular now. Have you ever been to Camden Yards? A very beautifuly ball park within that warehouse. I love the look.

Guys, I just talked to my son. He will be playing in one of the HS football games that opens the new stadium. He and I are very excited! He'll have a memory to last a lifetime. He also got to play in the RCA dome as a Frosh and I got to coach his pee wee team in the dome when he was 5. Great memories, all!
