Lucas Oil Stadium looks incredible (1 Viewer)

Personally the outside design of the stadium doesn't do a whole lot for me, but the inside looks fantastic.
Personally the outside design of the stadium is severely butt-ugly (don't say that on the Colt sites though or they will cry like the cowardly lion). Is it an accident that it sorta even looks like a big oil drum or something. Gee why not paint it yellow?Cool name too. So......football-ish. :tumbleweed:Oh well, least we still gots Peyton.

Check out the best seats in the house!!! :lmao:

Some idiot actually designed this. Then some idiot say 'good idea'.
Those seats do not count towards "selling out" a game. They will only be sold as partially obstructed or fully obstructed seats about a week before each game, and they will be clearly marked as such on the ticket.
Then why even make them seats?
This was in an Indy Star article today: LINK
So, in that light, why even build them?

Well, to make room for more good seats.

"Originally, there was a wall that existed at those columns, and we determined with the architects to move that wall back," said Pete Ward, senior executive vice president for the Colts. "That move created a critical number of seats for the Super Bowl count. But it also created some of the obstructed-view seats as well."

I went to the season ticket open house yesterday. The place is incredible, especially inside. But, don't just take my word for it:

After the game -- which the Reds won, 7-3 -- we started our long drive toward Milwaukee. It brought us straight through Indianapolis, and Matt suggested we swing by Lucas Oil Stadium, the Colts' brand new stadium. Turns out Sunday was an open house for season ticket holders, but we snuck in as the fans were emptying out. The place is mammoth, with a retractable roof and humongous concourse areas. We agreed that this is the best football stadium we've ever seen.
Is this guy a local Hoosier homer? No - he writes a blog for the Hartford Courant. LINKAs the blogger said - the place is mammoth, and the window that faces the Indy skyline (which can open or close) is quite a sight. There are lots of pics in the colts.com forums of the stadium.

As a bonus for me - I got one of the best (non-club, non-suite) places in the whole stadium as a seat. I have "mid-level" seat at around the 20 yard line (club seats are between the 20s, on the street and mid-level - so my seat is a really good non-club seat, anyway). But, I sit next to a camera stand (it doesn't block me at all) - and there is a "lane" in front of it that leads to the aisle. Since the camera stand is to my left, I can spread my left leg completely out (you can't do that for an aisle seat, or else the security guard will tell you to put your legs back inside so it doesn't trip people) - and comfortably swivel to my left without disturbing anyone - making my 20 yard-line seats actually comparable to much better seats. It is one of those quirky breaks based on the layout of the stadium that makes my seat much better than I even expected - and no way I'm going to ask to move from this seat at any point.

Dallas Stadium > Lucas Oil Stadium And I HATE the cowboys.
Isn't Dallas Stadium suppose to open next season?
Yeah? And?
When it is open, THEN it will (I'm assuming) the best stadium in the NFL. It isn't open yet.
:banned:I guess I'm in the camp who think it may be big but it's ugly as hell. The open window view of the skyline is a nice touch but anyone who's studied much architecture will likely be firmly in the "ugly" camp. If you're someone who's simply impressed by size then yeah... it's big. :banned:Not trying to be a jerk... just don't really like the look of it. Just MHO... YMMV. :banned:

IMHO this new stadium looks like some of the old run down factories i have seen in slum neighborhoods :goodposting:
I guess you've been to Indianapolis.
 Never had the joy actually :goodposting: i have seen many a slum in my day however, and a slum is a slum no matter what city it is in... same holds true for rundown factories and wherehouses... seen one seen'em all; this looks like one (or will soon at least... imho)BAM
Yeah, I know what you mean. I just got back from San Fran last week.
yes there are some very ugly areas in SF.i cannot deny it. actually the area the stadium is in is among the worst areas in the entire bay area. this is one resaon why we may lose the niners to Santa Clara.BUT there are very beautiful areas in the city (SF) as well, much like any city, you take the good with the bad.BAM
Now you should understand the point I was making. Indy is a very beautiful city for the most part. I doubt this stadium's look from the outside takes anything away from that. The warehouse or old look to outside of stadiums are popular now. Have you ever been to Camden Yards? A very beautifuly ball park within that warehouse. I love the look.
I've also been to Camden Yards, and yes, that is one beautiful ball park.
