Breaking News – Andrew LuckPosted by coltsindianapolis on November 10, 2015 – 2:59 pm

The Indianapolis Colts today announced that Quarterback Andrew Luck incurred abdominal injuries during Sunday’s victory over the Denver Broncos.

“The injuries happened at the end of an early fourth quarter scramble when Andrew was doing everything he could to get us the win,” said Head Coach Chuck Pagano. “Andrew was sore after the game and was feeling a little worse Monday afternoon so we sent him to get tests.”

The tests revealed a laceration in one of Luck’s kidneys and a partial tear of an abdominal muscle. The injuries should not require surgery and full recovery from both is expected within two to six weeks.

“It’s way too early to guess how long Andrew will be out,” said Pagano. “We’re going to keep listening to the doctors and evaluating his progress on a week by week basis. We’ve got all the confidence in the world in Matt Hasselbeck and we’re not going to put Andrew back out there until he’s healed and ready to go.”

Can't wait to get Luck in the 7th next year when everyone sours on him going into 2016. This has been rough sledding in 2015, but I don't think it's as if his talent suddenly evaporated. Would like to see some help on the OL in the off-season.

Can't they just flip a coin and the loser donates his good kidney to the winner?

You could make one super human player.

Romo to the rescue. Who cares if he won't play on Sunday? Pick him up now. Then plug Hasselbeck or whoever for this week.
Hasslebeck is on a bye.

Though in the league I have Luck, I also have Tyrod, but have a waiver claim in for Luck. I wouldn't be surprised if he's out for awhile.

Oh right. Well like I said, pick up whoever. For me Ryan Tannehill is always an option. I've picked him up and dropped him more times than I can count this season. (I kinda hate him.) But... he's always there.

I'll be shocked if they don't keep him sidelined until the playoffs.

Indy has a somewhat easy schedule for the second half of the season.

Hasselbeck should be able to handle it.

Stay tuned for the NFLs new kidney protocol - Complete with independent kidney spotters with the power to pull players from the game for observation if, in the spotter's soul opinion, the player took a hit that may have resulted in kidney trauma?

So much for my ~48 hours of smug satisfaction (due to a solid performance vs Broncos + nice post-BYE schedule) after acquiring him via trade last week. If it's a lacerated kidney, no way in hell he's back before real NFL post-season, IMO.

Great, just great. And just traded for TY...Luck owners won't want to hear those grapes, but was getting excited for the stretch run

Hassleback is going to do fine. Probably better than fine.

This schedule is beyond sweet:

Bye

@ATL

TB

@PIT

@JAX

HOU

@MIA

Something clicked this week with this team. Luck or not, I think Indy continues to turn it around after the bye.

Hassleback could be a sneaky bet to lead many to the playoffs.

Colts suffering Bad Karma from Deflategate.
I hope they lose every game so Grigson can draft another WR, only this time earlier in rd 1. :bag: Hopefully they can draft an impact OL or defensive player. I don't want them to win their division because they have no chance to advance, so might as well play for a great draft position.

Hasselback is the future for this team. It's about time management realized who the best QB on the squad is. It's best for the Colts to move on from the Luck experiment.

Thank god I grabbed Carr a couple weeks back.

This season has become laughable in terms of injuries.

Anyone think he has a legitimate chance of returning? What does history say about a lacerated kidney return timeframe?

Luck's one tough dude. He pretty much willed Indy to a win last week and I think he threw a TD on the play after taking this hit.
Would he of been less tough if it was another pick?

Not denying he isn't tough, he and I'd argue pretty much every player in the NFL is tough. I keep seeing the blurb about him throwing a touchdown pass after the injury as a big time tough guy feat.

The toughness involved was getting up and bringing team to huddle and running play, the outcome of the play really doesn't matter but no one would be saying that if he tossed a pick or an incomplete pass.

Well, it's not like he's been having such a great season anyway.
No, but he looked like he turned the corner against Denver and with his remaining schedule it was easy to get excited for him during the stretch run.

he was tough because he finished the game. the fact that he played at a high level is impressive, though.

ESPN's Ed Werder reports the Colts expect Andrew Luck (lacerated kidney) to miss "at least a month."
Werder said the team is prepared for an even longer absence. Hopes of Luck returning shortly after the bye week can now be thrown out the window, and he is not a must hold in shallower leagues. Matt Hasselbeck will get the nod with Luck sidelined, but he was just a mid-range QB2 in two starts earlier this season. The entire passing game takes a hit without Luck in the lineup, but T.Y. Hilton was targeted 22 times across Hasselbeck's two starts. Hilton will remain on the WR2 map and could have some buy-low value considering the Colts' cake schedule down the stretch.

Not really news, first game back will probably be week 15 at the earliest. Who would have the balls to start him in the playoffs, fantasy season over.

Is Curtis Painter available?

Are the Colts going to sign another QB? Right now the only other QB on the roster is a practice squad guy (Alex Tanney), who is better known for his
