Lynch's trial date (1 Viewer)

Shutout

Footballguy
Just saw this. Surprised we hadn't talked about this connecting the dots to the drafting of Christine Michael.

Maybe there is something related?

Marshawn Lynch's DUI case is scheduled to go to jury trial on June 21.
Lynch was arrested way back on July 14 of 2012. An officer allegedly observed him weaving in and out of lanes, nearly hitting other vehicles. Lynch submitted to a breathalyzer test, which yielded a BAC over California's 0.08 legal limit. He has pleaded not guilty and the court will hear a motion to dismiss the case on June 21. It's impossible to project any league discipline when we don't know how the case will shake out, but this could be another reason the Seahawks used a second-round pick on Texas A&M RB Christine Michael.
Related: Christine Michael, Robert Turbin

I don't recall where he is in the program. I remember hearing 1-2 games but more because on non drug/alcohol incident(s).

I tried to say something was up in the winners and losers thread. The Hawks just seem like the were planning for life without him.

You dont just "plan for life without lynch"

Hes an elite RB with superhuman power.... He's pled not guilty, and bet your balls he's got the defense team to make this all disappear.

Hawks will be more than fine and beash mo' will kill the league again

note: I dont own lynch in anything and am not a hawks fan

He was busted for having a gun in an airport and also ran over some old lady in his SUV (hit and run).

Yeah, he has sat out before. I would have to look at it but from what I remeber, when we were talking about this last year before they pushed the court date to this year, there was a lot of back and forth about WHERE it would fall as an offense and if it were in one category as a repeat offense, he could be suspended for 4 games and if it were the other he is likely looking at maybe 2 games.

And wasn't there something about if it was related to drugs then it voids the guarantees in his contract? Seems like there were some people saying the team might be able to just walk from him if he gets hit with a 4 game suspension and it is related (if they wanted to).

Here is Seattle the talk is a 1-2 game suspension. Have not heard anything (yet) about voiding guarantees in his contract.

Yeah, he got caught with guns in his trunk or something like that and another incident almost running someone over in the bar disctrict downtown. They couldn't prove it was him driving though. I'm pretty certain the suspension was for the guns.

I think he admitted he was driving but they couldn't prove he knew that he hit the woman and fled the scene. It was a rainy night and he had a big SUV so he may not have even heard the "thump".

His suspension may have been due to poor conduct or something like that back a few years ago when players were getting suspensions for conduct when the league was trying to clean up their image.

Dug this up on Yahoo. Was supposedly directly from Adam Sheffler but I did not see that direct quote.

Lynch was suspended three games in 2009 after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge. The DUI qualifies as a violation of the substance abuse policy and it is Lynch’s first violation on that front. The penalty in those cases is usually a fine of two game checks.

The article also went on to say that the NFL has said they will wait until the legal process plays out before deciding on any punishment, if any.

from Rotoworld:

Marshawn Lynch's motion to suppress evidence hearing stemming from his 2012 DUI has been delayed until July 5.
The motion was originally expected to be heard yesterday and a jury trial was scheduled for June 21. Now the entire case has been pushed back and there's no trial date set, making it possible that this bleeds into training camp. It creates a hairy situation for fantasy owners, as Lynch could be facing a suspension from the league if he's found guilty. Robert Turbin and Christine Michael are taking the reps at OTAs this week as Lynch trains on his own.
