- Mora was rumored to be meeting with someone regarding Texas last night...not true.

- Mora apparently did tell a HS coach last week that UT was the best job in football

- neither Malzahn or Fisher have signed their extension

Also the Vegas odds for Strong jumped up considerably overnight.

This may be naive, but I don't buy it. In fact, it would be shocking if Jim Mora actually said that to a high school recruit. He's already gone round and round on all media outlets with the fact that what he said on a Seattle radio show about UW being his dream job cost him his job with the Falcons and that he will never do anything like that again. This would be similar and I don't see him doing it.

The UCLA staff has a philosophy that they do not discuss other schools, good or bad (so no negative recruiting), with recruits. They will only discuss UCLA.

I find it ironic that Charlie Strong was at UF, and the guy many of the fans wanted as HC. Muschamp was the HC in waiting at Texas, and is now the HC of UF. Now UF doesn't want Muschamp, and the guy many wanted could be the HC of Texas.

Gator Nation is at a pathetic all time low right now. FSU had some bad years, and it sucked getting stomped by Tebow, but FSU was never that bad. It's a shame. I don't like seeing any of the Florida schools do bad.

Kelly has a "Show Cause" penalty through 2014, which basically means that the NCAA would have the right to impose sanctions on Texas. It's not a dealbreaker, though.edit: here's what the NCAA said about Kelly:

Therefore, pursuant to NCAA Bylaw 19.5, the committee imposes an 18-month show-cause order upon the former head coach. During this period, which begins on June 26, 2013, and runs through December 25, 2014, if any member institution seeks to hire the former head coach in an athletically related capacity, it and the former head coach shall appear before the Committee on Infractions to consider which, if any, of the show-cause procedures of Bylaw 19.5.2.2 (l) should be imposed upon him.

In theory, Texas could tell the Committee that they promise Chip will be on his very best behavior, and the Committee could decide to reduce Chip's penalty to probation.

Briles and Fisher have always been my personal favorites. Just never felt Fisher was realistic.

People are also making too big of a deal about this committee. The advisory committee is the same group that hired Patterson. And the regents are no Mack Brown syncophants like some other regents which is good for Texas. There was a similar committee when Mack was hired.
