Leaving the theatre and driving home in my mini-van was anti-climatic.
I told everyone at work how great the movie was and offered to drive for lunch. Nobody took me up on my offer. :(

jdoggydogg said:Sheer lunacy. Brilliant. I loved it. How many truly ####ed up movies do you get to see in a year? Amazing stunts, really weird, and campy in a way that few modern movies can achieve. I wish there were more movies like this.the guy with the guitar attached to bungee cords is going to be my go-to Halloween costume from now on.
Awesome insane imaginative automotive/mechanical/war boy mayhem?I find it difficult to articulate exactly what about this movie made it so utterly fantastic.
The incredible cinematography? The use of color and different color tones? The lack of background narration/story telling and just let the action speak for itself? The fact that all the stunts were stunts, and virtually no CGI? That it felt raw and as "real" as it gets? I do not know, but hope someone more articulate than I will do it for me so I can regurgitate it to others.

Bold part is why I enjoyed it as much as I did.. So tired of directors thinking they have to force feed us the plot.. Just let the movie do the work..I find it difficult to articulate exactly what about this movie made it so utterly fantastic.

It took you actually saying it here, but looking back... yeah, these are two huge pluses.I find it difficult to articulate exactly what about this movie made it so utterly fantastic.

Took my 11 year old daughter. Pretty kid friendly. There's a scene in the beginning where some fat ladies are hooked up to breast feeding pumps. And then a naked lady (very far away, where you can't see anything.) Other than that, just violence.Kid friendly?
Took my 11/8/5 year old boys to see Avengers last week. They have seen all the Marvel movies.
Did your daughter like it? I want to see it again and have been contemplating whether to take my 12 yr old daughter to it.Took my 11 year old daughter. Pretty kid friendly. What in Road Warrior was believable?I'll rain on this parade.
Fury Road was too much action, not enough plot/story to be considered in the upper echelon of action movies IMHO.
Hell, I still don't know much about the main antagonist or second protagonist(Max.) There wasn't enough story here to really draw me in. Also, the guitarist/flamethrower guy and some other attributes made the movie a bit over the top for my taste, not as believable. When I watched the Road Warrior, I always thought "this could happen." You are either believable or totally out there(star wars) for me to be intrigued...movies in the middle tend to lose me.
Good, but not as great as Road Warrior, T2, Aliens and some of the other all time greats that have been mentioned in the same sentence.
And as I implied earlier, I'll take Ex Machina over Fury Road.

ETA - a female biker clan surviving in the wasteland = not believable

I don't think that was that big of a deal mainly because:Sorry to disagree. But I don't think a movie with the following scene is kid friendly:Took my 11 year old daughter. Pretty kid friendly. Watch a dead baby get cut out of his dead mother's womb. Not as graphic as it could have been, but pretty awful.

I think I explained it in the other thread, but having a guy with a guitar is no different than what the people did before radios when they went into battle. They used drums and flags to signal to the troops on how to proceed. It was their only form of communication. The movie showed in the beginning that they signaled to the oil town using the sun and mirrors, so we know they didn't have radios. So using drums and a guitar with amplifiers can easily be explained as a way to control troop movement.I'll rain on this parade.

maybe you are confusing the Road Warrior with the first Mad Max? I mean a bus is really going to stop a group of mad men from ramming through the compound and taking over?what part isn't believable?Really? WowAll of it IMHO.What in Road Warrior was believable?I'll rain on this parade.

Again, it depends on your kid. If they can handle it, this is nothing crazy. There were two scenes that really violent. And they really weren't anything worse than watching The Walking Dead. In fact, I didn't think they were even as bad. The violence I'm talking about is people fighting or falling off of moving cars into the sand. If you tone down those two scenes slightly and remove the breast pump scene, I think this movie gets a PG-13 rating. There was barely any dialogue, so I don't even remember that much cursing.Took my 11 year old daughter. Pretty kid friendly. No, no, I'm just laughing at the general American thing we all do, there. It struck me as funny.Again, it depends on your kid. If they can handle it, this is nothing crazy. "Well, you should probably know it might not be kid friendly because of a shot of breasts. But other than that, there's just a lot of maniacal violence, so no worries."

Stupid Americans!I think it's funny that people always think our way of thinking is wrong.
We're talking about pumping breast milk. And whether that's okay for little kids. You don't see anything funny about that?I think it's funny that people always think our way of thinking is wrong.
I don't have kids, but my initial reaction would be this movie is nowhere near appropriate for children.Henry Ford said:We're talking about pumping breast milk. Oh my goodness.Total mess of a movie. Not sure I could recommend it to anyone. It's goofy fun but mostly I found it laughably bad.
Everyone has a different way of looking at things and as such you are certainly entitled to your own opinion but in this case I feel bad for all the people you will not be recommending this movie too as they may miss out on a kickass, action packed, brilliantly directed, beautifully filmed, well acted, tightly paced, post apocalyptic smorgasbord of fun and fury as has ever been put to film.Total mess of a movie. It's because the heavy metal guitarist is way too awesome for kids to comprehend.
heavy metal shredding at it's finest!!
