Doesn't Champ sometimes struggle against bigger WRs?reason to not play him this week:
1 - Champ Bailey
2 - No Gates (maybe) or Vjax (for sure) to draw coverage away from him
He does, Jerry Porter and Vjax has lit him up before. But I dont htink floyd is at their level. temper expectations of Floyd this week.Doesn't Champ sometimes struggle against bigger WRs?reason to not play him this week:

Malcolm Floyd isn't at Jerry Porter's level? That is just mean and uncalled for!He does, Jerry Porter and Vjax has lit him up before. I remember that game as well -- IIRC it was 3 TDs. Huge. And while I don't think Floyd's a worldbeater by any stretch, I absolutely think he's better than Jerry Porter, who on the whole turned out to be a horrible WR aside from a few nice moments (many of which were when he was drawing single coverage as Rice/Brown were the #1/#2).LOL I just remember that one game where Porter did torch him.Malcolm Floyd isn't at Jerry Porter's level? Im getting the feeling that you guys dont think Champ is any good any more.
Agreed. Or, Matt Cassell apparently (see DBowe stat line form last week.)Champ Bailey isn't that much of a deterrent when Philip Rivers is throwing the ball.
Floyd should be solid until VJax & Gates return. After that it's anybody's guess which weeks Floyd will have big games and which weeks he will be a dud.
I remember that game, it was in the snow. Champ is the man; I would look for options other than Floyd for a multitude of reasons.LOL I just remember that one game where Porter did torch him.Malcolm Floyd isn't at Jerry Porter's level? I've owned him all season and have followed his injury status closely on google and twitter. I have read nothing about this supposed detached hamstring and am skeptical that you have, either. Got a link for that?I read an article that his hamstring was nearly detached from the bone. I'm a bit concerned that he is still not 100% or at the very least may be a bit hesitant. Not to mention I think they work some Seyi Arjitutu in.
Haha whoa that time of the month for you or something?I am probably starting Floyd this week BTW, and pretty much with confidence. Rivers is playing out of his mind and Floyd will be his deep guy. I say 90 yards and a score.I've owned him all season and have followed his injury status closely on google and twitter. If by earlier meeting you mean last season, yes. But Den vs SD has not happened yet this year.Didn't Champ cover Gates in the earlier meeting?I may have to start Floyd, I don't like my other options. If Gates plays, I think I will.
Sorry, man, I couldn't resist!Between Floyd and Bowe, I've guessed wrong most of the season. Might as well continue that trend and start Bowe over Floyd this weekend.I am probably starting Floyd this week BTW, and pretty much with confidence. Not closely enough. Warm up your apology: http://www.nctimes.com/sports/football/pro...a00506db7d.htmlMalcom Floyd thought his season was over four Sundays ago in St. Louis. Thanks for the article. I own Floyd and didn't notice this either. Is there reason to worry the Chargers have brought him back too soon? Not closely enough. Long snapper David Binn suffered a similar injury in the season opener and linebacker Antwan Applewhite tore his hamstring early in 2009. The Chargers put both players on injured reserve.
"When I first popped it, I knew I was in big trouble," Floyd said after Wednesday's practice. "I thought for sure they were going to put me on IR. They told me how bad it was, and while they said it wasn't as bad as Dave Binn's tear; the percentage of the muscle that got torn was pretty close. It was almost completely off the bone."That was a terrible turn for Floyd. He had 213 receiving yards the week before, helping establish his status as a true go-to receiver. Floyd had proved himself a reliable No. 1 threat, able to produce despite a steady dose double teams.
The injury was a setback, but it wasn't a death blow. The Chargers were patient with the injury, and Floyd is on the cusp of returning to action. Floyd has tested the hamstring with speed work, quick cuts and change-of-direction drills. So far, Floyd hasn't had any setbacks.
He didn't rush the rehab process, waiting for the muscle to heal before pushing himself. Now he's on schedule to return Nov. 22 against Denver and continue a season so close to ending early.
"They gave me a four-to-six week rehab, and this game was a target date," Floyd said. "I wanted to come back earlier, but this is something you just can't rush. Another setback and I could've been done for the year. I didn't want to be in that boat."
FLoyd did a full practice on Wednesday, awaiting Thursday resultsAny updated news coming out of San Diego? I'm concerned they will be splitting time between Floyd and Arijitutu. #1 to ease Floyd back in and #2 to get Arjitutu in on the action. Crayton in the slot and Naanee back outside.
Obviously confidence=wishful thinking given the current situation and facts."I wanted to come back earlier, but this is something you just can't rush."Doesn't sound like an issue, I would play him with confidence.
I'm going to need something a little more definitive than "hopefully he'll be alright" before I plug Floyd in again. Barring some good news later today, it's a little too scary to start him.Anyone rolling with Floyd?
From a San Diego Tribune article;
"Also Friday, wide receiver Malcom Floyd had something of a setback, but there remains optimism he will play Monday. A day after practicing full, Floyd was limited on Friday after experiencing soreness in his hamstring.
Said Turner: “We do have a little bit of time to get him some rest and hopefully he’ll be all right.”"
I'm in the exact same boat. Debating between those two and Fred Jackson at the flex spot.Debating whether to play Floyd or Gaffney??
This is my thinking as of right now. I had him in until I saw the above article. I can't take a goose egg. If he makes it through this game then I'll start him next week. He'll be in my lineup next week if he makes it through one game with no setbacks.
I wouldn't start him next week either. Vincent Jackson will be back and that means alot less balls for Floyd. This is my thinking as of right now. I had him in until I saw the above article. The coaches don't care about that crap. they will play whoever gives them the best chance to win. Jackson has been practicing with the team since Nov. 3, it's not like he has been sitting on his butt.Is it guaranteed that VJ is going to play the whole game and truly be the #1WR right away? I know he sat out and chapped the SD brass by doing so. If he's going to be gone next year anyway I would play guys that are going to be with the team for next year.
word is he was looking dominant in practice...he will be a beast ...fresh and wanting to show people what he can do so he gets the BIG money next yearIs it guaranteed that VJ is going to play the whole game and truly be the #1WR right away? Flpyd doesn't get that many targets to begin with.I wouldn't start him next week either. Vincent Jackson will be back and that means alot less balls for Floyd. This is my thinking as of right now. The best thing Vincent Jackson can do for Vincent Jackson is to go out the rest of the year and bust his ###, showing why he deserves a big paycheck. The best thing the coaching staff can do for the coaching staff is to turn the season around and play their best players. From what is being said in practice, that is clearly Vincent Jackson. The best thing for ownership is to make the playoffs. They won't interfere with the coaches trying to do just that.Translation: VJax is a #1 wr the minute he steps on the field.
All I have seen show he will play, but nothing concrete. It is tough since it is a night game. Any information would be helpful.Looking at FBG rankings its apparent they think he isnt going to play. I think he will be out there. Anything new on his status for week 12?
