Manning: Patriots "stole" Colts RB in the draft (1 Viewer)

A guy that works for me showed me some pictures in an email he received from his uncle. His uncle was golfing in Florida and got put in a foursome with Peyton Manning. He said Manning was one of the nicest guys he has met but a 1st class dork. The dance that Manning did when the uncle made a 40 foot putt was priceless. :lmao:

The idea of guys staring at a homemade video of a friend who knows a guy who has an uncle who played golf with Manning and videotaped it and then calling anyone a dork is beyond :lmao: GB this board.J

I heard that Maroney was actually Manning's second choice, he really wanted some guy named Bush but the Saints grabbed him first......

How did he toss Addai under the bus? Everybody had Maroney ahead of the guy on their lists.

You people really look far too much into things.

I agree that it is much ado about nothing. Just something to write about. But, let's face it, most front offices tell the press - "I'm glad he was on the board when it came to us. He was the player we were targeting." Manning says, we really wanted Maroney, had to settle for Addai. Maybe better left unsaid.

Of course, if he called Drew Brees and said that they got their RB, noone would care.

The Colts liked both Moroney and Addai. If Polian tried to trade up to get Moroney, I suspect he was asked to give up too much. Polian is NOT gonna do that.

Remember, most folks couldn't figure out why Polian picked Edge ahead of Ricky Williams, but no one is saying that was a bad move. And Edge had about as much starting experience in college as Addai has.

And if a joking comment in a phone call is equal to throwing someone under the bus, we've all got some apologies to make. We don't even know for sure Manning said it. We only know Brady says he said it, but Brady might have been joking with the Boston media...

Yeah, because the video I viewed would be the only reason that Manning is referred to as a dork. Or the first time. Ok Joe. "Yeah, yeah (patting Harrison on the back as they run off the field), we'll share it. We'll share it." (Harrison could NOT have cared less).

His mannerisms. All of the junk that he does at the line of scrimmage. Have you watched "Battle of the Gridiron Stars"?

His AWESOME commercials that make his character seem WAY too natural to him. But you are right. Its your board, Manning is not a dork.

:lmao: That so-called dork is one of the best QBs in the game and making millions of dollars. The dorks are the ones that feel the need to hate anyone that does well in the NFL.

I wonder how Joseph Addai feels about these comments.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My thought exactly, perry.J

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Addai should have assumed he was ranked behind Maroney, so if he gets bent by the comment, he shouldn't be. Still, I'll bet Manning didn't think about the fact that a little remark made to Brady would end up in the press. Oops. I'm sure he would take it back now if he could.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Maybe Mannings mouth is filling in for VanderJact...with Vandy gone, someone has to make these kind of comments. :P

You need to get a grip and enjoy this guy for what he is. He's one of the great players in the league that make it so damned interesting.

:lmao: :lmao: Get a grip on what? The guy is a great yet flawed QB. He will be a Hall of Famer whether he ever wins a title or not. He makes Millions. He has an absolute GREAT life. None of those things changes the fact that IMO he is a dork. Whatever, I dont know what your or Joe's problem is with that comment.

And I do enjoy Manning. I enjoy it every year when he chokes in the playoffs. :D

:lmao:   @ Brady in Israel with owner Kraft :lmao:

Golden boy/ owners pet

:X   For some reason I have a feeling that when Brady's skills take a turn for the worse he is going to go political on us  :yucky:

:excited: Maybe I should draft Brady this year so that he will get hurt and begin to suck :ptts:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
:penalty: Illegal use of smilies. Fifteen minutes in the dunce chair. Still fourth down.

There were two many AFC teams picking in front of the Colts needing a RB for Maroney or Williams to fall to them. They needed to move up but for whatever reason didnt want to spend to get their guy. Its easy to play armchair GM but I'm sure they could have pulled off a trade if they wanted to. If Maroney wasnt worth Addai plus an extra pick then he cant be as special as some people are making him out to be.

But, let's face it, most front offices tell the press  - "I'm glad he was on the board when it came to us.  He was the player we were targeting."  Manning says, we really wanted Maroney, had to settle for Addai.  Maybe better left unsaid.
But by the same token it's not like Manning walked up to a podium at a national press conference and said he preferred Maroney. From the sounds of it in a private phone conversation he jokingly mentioned in passing that they "stole our running back". So what? You people are acting like adolescent girls in high school with your gossip and drama. Sounds like you guys need Desperate Housewives more than once a week or something..

Addai concerns me, whenever I watch him he doesn't seem to have good short area explosion, it's like he's moving in slow motion. He also doesn't seem overly agile. I hope he surprises me :/

I know you didn't mean any harm by that comment, but sometimes it really seems like people in the Shark Pool just sit on the edge of their seats, just waiting to correct someone.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Run-on sentences are really bad form.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
How would you have broken that sentence down?
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It was meant as a joke. After you said "waiting to correct" I had to nitpipick to find something to correct.
