Marion Barber for week 15? (1 Viewer)

baronson

Footballguy
are you a little reticent to start marion barber after his goose egg last week? i would have thought since they were playing from behind that he would have gotten some garbage time receiving yards, or at least a few carries in the first half.

i'm not ready to panic, but i'm thinking now, since they're playing ATL this week, that there's at least a chance they're playing from behind again. will the same thing happen?

He got 2 carries because the offense was unable to sustain drives. Barber (right now) makes his living inside the offensive and defensive red zones. Dallas spent zero time in either on Sunday night... that's an anomaly. Don't be scared.

Obviously all we can hope for is Dallas to get back on track. Falcon backfield is banged up and they are suspect in the air. Barber will be back

Barber stays in my starting lineup until the season ends. He's earned that right in my opinion.
tend to agree. just gauging people's confidence. sounds high for the moment... though someone in another thread said they were starting sammy morris over him, which sounds a little drastic to me.more are welcome to weigh in.

we may not be even having this conversation if dallas didn't false start on 4th and 3 inches on the 5 yard line vs. NO last week...barber looked poised to the get ball (and likely first down) with 4 new downs to try to punch it in. JJ had a big game but mainly because of his 77 yard TD run on the second play of the game. after that it was all NO.

Since the Cowboys are on a short week, there is a good chance Barber sees more work since he had a light load in 14. That said, he is always a risk. TD output is variable for most players.

Up to the N O game, Barber has been amazingly consistant. One bad game isn't enough to make me consider benching him. I'm starting him in my flex position as my RB 3 without any hesitation, hoping Dallas has a couple posessions inside the 5 yd line. He's a solid RB 2.

that's actually a really good point. hadn't thought of that.although it's not like JJones was overworked on sunday...

Since this week is the 1st week of our playoffs, I think I'm going with the safer play of Tatum Bell vs. ARI (Rudi is my #1 and will likely go off vs. IND) this week- then I will start him w/ confidence vs. PHI and DET.

For most, but not for Barber. Not this season. The only RB who has been safer to predict TDs for is LT. That's pretty heady praise for a backup RB. I don't see the Falcons taking the Cowboys out of their game the way the Saints did. Atlanta's offense isn't anywhere near as potent as New Orleans' when they're at full strength. And they may be at considerably less than full strength this week with Dunn and Norwood hurt. I think this is a game the Cowboys are able to control. And so far, whenever they have controlled a game Barber has been money.

its a risk you take when you play a situational back

if he doesnt get in the right situations hes not earning points... that said the falcons will lose this week, romo will come back firing on all cylinders and all will be right with the world.

Dallas should move the ball very well against Atlanta. MBIII should get some good chances. nope, not afraid.

:goodposting: Consider myself swayed...

It's made me nervous, but I'm still going with him this week. Of course, my other choices are Foster, Rhodes & A-Train. I may change my mind, but I'm thinking Barber will be much more involved this week. If I'm wrong, I'm hoping Rudi carries me again.

I was just wondering if this is the thread for bad decision making now?

Lets see, yup I was afraid after last week and benched Barber tonight.

I also benched Vick.

I also started Seattle's team D.

Lets see thats 0 points for who I started, and 60 for my bench.

Oh wait, this is the wrong thread. where is the thread for

Deion was begging for the Cowboys to start Barber ahead of Jones. I'm a Barber owner who has always believed that Jones is the superior RB. But I'm starting to think that's no longer the case. Barber has run much harder in recent weeks and he's clearly been more productive. I don't expect anything to change at this point in the season but I wonder if we might see a changing of the guard in 2007.

I benched Barber in favor of S. Morris, W. McGahee, or C. Benson (if there is more negative info. about T. Jones). I am regretting it slightly, but I am in a tight playoff matchup and I prefer an option that is not such a situational player. I chose against Barber because of last week. RB2 is my weakest position on this team. All I really need to win is 10-12 points from that position. I felt that my other options were safer bets to get at or above 10 points while Barber was the biggest risk to lay a goose egg.

Like I said, slightly regretful but only because hindsight is 20/20. I think that my logic was sound and had I the opportunity to do it over without knowing what Barber would do I would probably make the same decision. Now, if I win and make it to the title then Barber has made my decision for next week near impossible.

I solicited plenty of advice for this week. It came down to Barber or Bush. Everyone was saying go with Bush. I went with Barber!! I'm pretty damn pleased with myself right now. Bush could still go off, but I'm happy with 2 TDs and 96 yards from Barber.

Got scared took him out of my line-up right before I left for the game. He didn't have much of anything until late in the third quarter. I benched the Cowboys D as well theorizing that if Vick had a big game the Cowboys D wouldn't score much. Well I was wrong, so I now have 36 points sitting on my bench when I had them in my starting line-up all week, then chickened out at the last minute. Still got 35 out of Vick though.

I was stuck with the decision of whether to take MJD out for MBIII (we get points for return yards too) and stayed with MJD....He could still make it an okay decision...but it was frustrating seeing him score twice knowing that I almost put him in. so it goes....

I still like JJ quite a bit but he isn't running with the same sense of urgency I've seen from him in the past. He looks very tentative on a lot of runs. Barber is a different deal completely. And yes I'm biased as a Barber owner but I do think a strong case can be made that he should be getting more carries - especially early in games - than he's been getting if he continues to run this well.

Games lost by starting MBIII over one of my other RB2s: 2

Games that could have been won by starting MBIII over one of my other RB2s: 3

Playoff chances pretty much shot to hell by going with the "safe" Tatum Bell vs. MBIII: 1

Lesson here: MBIII is normally a better option to start than your other RB2 options.

I benched MBIII for Tatum crap Bell today.....

aint that a #####....luckily still pulled it off...but now next week you play Barber and he can lay an egg...

tough tough call with him...

Are you kidding me? PHI gives up running yards like crazy. J.Jones and MBIII could both have 100+ yd and a TD days. Barber is a :moneybag: play next week, and also the next vs. DET.

How is it such a tough call?? MB3 is more consistent than most starting RBs...He's never gonna give you a big yardage day - but if you are in a TD heavy league, he is GOLD.
