This is the only place online I've seen such distaste for Ingram, particularly with "inconsistent" as a theme.  Last year he had 70+ yards in 10 of 16 games, and split 10 TDs over 7 games, with several 20+ point boom games mixed in.  

Maybe you're bagging on him for that 5-yards-and-a-fumble choke against the Seahawks.  I've had him for a few years and been pretty pleased with him more often than not.

Do you think the Snead suspension will help Ingram in the passing game?

 
An obvious first guess of how this will break down is that we'll see a replay of 2008-13, with Ingram in the Pierre Thomas role, Kamara in the Bush/Sproles role, and Peterson in the McAllister/Bell/Ivory/Ingram role. Pro-rating the 2008-13 stats to 16 games (up from the 13ish that each of these guys average), that comes out to:

Pierre Thomas role (Ingram?): 139/660/5.6 rushing, 46/380/1.7 receiving, 193 fpts in ppr
Bush/Sproles role (Kamara?): 84/423/2.5 rushing, 77/624/5 receiving, 227 fpts in ppr
McAllister/etc. role (Peterson?): 165/693/5.5 rushing, 10/64/0.2 receiving, 120 fpts in ppr

Which makes Ingram's price as a high-end RB3 seem reasonable.

Kamara looks like the obvious value play to me, given where he's going. These numbers may be too high (perhaps he'll be closer to Cadet), but he definitely has plenty of upside.

 
Is peterson going to come in a demand <50% of the touches? Is Ingram going to stop getting the 60ish targets out of the backfield he's had the past two years? I think the answer is no to both options. I think Ingram is great value in a productive offense, and thats before peterson gets hurt

I traded JJ Nelson, 2017 2.09 (A. Stewart), and 3.06 (G. Everett)

This was before Rookie Draft so I included players in draft in parenthesis.

12 Team PPR. Start 1QB, 1-3 RB, 1-3WR, 1 TE.

I just traded developmental draft pick 2.02 for this yr & 2018 4th round rookie pick FOR Ingram in PPR dynasty.

is development draft like a devy? how valuable are those picks (name some top second round development picks of this year or last year if you don't mind)?

It's calling dibs on college players for when they hit the NFL. This was the 1st year we did the devy thing.

 
It's a dynasty league draft where you can pick rookies, but also college underclassmen (and usually league free agents).

 
Mark Ingram rushed six times for 17 yards and caught all five of his targets for 54 yards in the Saints' Week 1 loss to the Vikings.

Ingram was held in check most of the night before piling up four catches for 36 yards on the Saints' final drive in garbage time. He and rookie Alvin Kamara were coach Sean Payton's preferred backfield option with the Saints playing from behind most of the night. Kamara played 31 snaps to Ingram's 26, while newcomer Adrian Peterson was buried with just nine snaps. When all is said and done, Ingram is the most trustworthy Saints back, but a lot is going to be decided by game flow and script in this backfield. Keep firing Ingram up as an RB2 next week against New England.

Looked like the best and most complete back on the team. He would be dynamic if Payton would just trust him. Nope, let's let the rookie who can't run between the tackles and the 45 year old RB with no burst get on the field. What a wasted career.

 
It's absolutely baffling to me why the Saints even signed Peterson. And already it looked like he was chirping in Peyton's ear. Peyton already has what seems a strange relationship with Ingram. Why add this to it?

It would be disappointing to think that ADP was signed just to sell a few tickets. But that would seem to be the reality as I can't see him adding much to the team's production.

 
They're trying to win football games, guys. 

They don't give 2 craps about your fantasy team. 

Pretty good shtick though. (At least I hope that is what it is)

Agreed, but what I am trying to understand is how Adrian Peterson helps them accomplish that goal. When he was in the lineup last night they ran all but one time. Seems that, like many of us suggested, Peterson might limit the Saints playbook. 

Sure, to salt away games in the 4th he would probably still be decent enough but he may hamstring the offense in almost every other situation.

I didn't see Adrian Peterson at practice during media viewing period. Didn't see him walking to buses after practice. Appears he wasn't here

 
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Adrian Peterson "tweaked his knee" on Wednesday.

It explains why he was absent from Thursday's practice, although it does not sound like he is in any danger of sitting out Sunday. Yet to top 10 carries in a game this season, Peterson is nothing more than a bench stash at this point.

If this backfield turns into a Ingram/Kamara timeshare they both see pretty big bumps. AP has been eating into a quarter of the snaps and a third of the utilization.

 
I thought I was smart picking Ingram and AD back to back this year, but AD looks like he picked the wrong team and Ingram is barely getting enough touches for me to flex him in PPR  :wall:

They'd likely just give AP's share to someone else (or mostly Kamara)- Payton doesn't seem to want Ingram to get too many touches.

Who? Edmunds? Ingram was utilized 18 times last week anyway. Probably the most interesting thing about Ingram is that he's on pace for 75 targets and that very likely won't change. I honestly don't think he's a bad PPR flex regardless but if AP is indeed injured I don't see how you can construe that as anything other than a positive for Ingram and Kamara.

Woah, tiger. It was mostly just a joke that Payton seemingly hates Ingram, but I don't think Ingram would get a huge bump if AP was out (1 week might be different, I mean more if he was out of the equation completely). I've owned Ingram for years, and it's the same thing every year- no matter how obvious it is that Ingram should be getting more touches, he doesn't give him enough. He'd get a bump, but I'd expect Kamara to get a bigger one if AP is out myself.

 
Say what you want, even with AP there Ingram is still on pace for ~1,250 yards from scrimmage this year.  The TDs will come.

Agreed. Beyond the obvious increase in touches hopefully it will result in better play calling from Payton...interchange Ingram/Kamara as situations warrant vs. trying to keep AP's ego intact....impossible to say exactly how much of this has been going on but gotta believe it's been a distraction.

 
Payton is still a terrible coach. That first half was awful. He makes no sense with how he uses his RB. I would go Ingram and Kamara exclusively and try to trade AP to like Dallas or something.

I like Ingram, but it's pretty obvious Payton doesn't. Last year he was giving the ball to Hightower. This year it's AP. Now they traded AP, which was smart. But I think it's got more to do with the emergence of Kamara than it does for Ingram. I would be cautiously optimistic at this point. They knew what they had in Ingram when they signed AP. The same cannot be said for Kamara.

 
57 touches in 4 games (14.25) with Peterson in the lineup.  Peterson had 29 himself.  Safe to assume ~20 touches a game for Ingram going forward?

Considering Ingram has never averaged 20 touches per game in his career, I'd say no, it isn't safe to assume he does so now. I'd guess he gets an extra ~2 per game and Kamara is the main beneficiary.

Ingram had 16 two weeks ago when AD had 9, and 18 in week 4 when AD had 4.  I think 16-18/week is likely, which is basically what Ingram has operated with his past two very successful seasons. 

Kamara gets a nice boost too.  I think he's now looking at 12+ touches a la week 4.  He's fully ready for the Sproles/Bush role.

 
For years the NO backfield wasn't just a 2 way split, it was 3 way.  That's what this season was also looking like.  But now it's back to a 2 man.  Somewhere either in this thread or a similar one I posted the total number of rushing yards, receptions, receiving yards and TDs that occur in total from the NO RBs, and they were very impressive totals each of the past few years.  If we're really back down to 2 man, even split right down the middle makes for two very good fantasy options.
